  1. I did something similar with WHFB years ago, but they were prepared lists that were balanced to an extent by people who were not me and knew much more about how to do that.  I have thought something similar would work if scheme and strats were generated before, then compose lists and have players randomly draw from that.  Or expand the lists so that some amount of crew creation can be done by the players.

  2. For me Malifaux started and has always been a casual game that I enjoy because of the sculpts, the fluff, and the universe.  I started playing in 2010 and collected Seamus and Dreamer because of those exact reasons.  I tend to not commit much to memory about opponents' models, and only some of my own to be honest.  I've always liked the idea of tournaments being single master for that reason as well.  It's a characterful game and that draws me in.  As a primarily Neverborn player now, I don't want to have to play Collodi to have a better chance of winning and would rather play Lynch because I like the models.  Fixed list would be fine with me, or let people know in a tournament packet beforehand what the schemes and strats will be so they can craft their lists for their master.  Can Wyrd do anything?  I don't know that there is really anything that needs to be done.  Yes there are a lot of models, but that provides variety.  Thinking back to one of the big reasons I left GW in the dust was becasue I was tired of facing the same Dark Elves and Daemons lists every game with little variation while I played an army that I enjoyed, but wasn't super competitive.  I think there needs to be some definitive clarification on elevation, however.  Either don't use elevation (no going in buildings or on rooftops or hilltops) which is boring or make some official ruling and call it a core rules errata.

Don't look to hard on the rankings, the problem might stem from your available models or from you getting a better grip on your models faster. Changing crews is an interesting exercise if he agrees to that. It might just confirm his thoughts though especially with the crews he has available for you (depending on what extra models he has).

Who did you kill with Francois? He shouldn't oneshot any of those masters. Francois is an often lamented model that is definitely extremely powerful but there are ways to control him. While reckless gives him a good threat range it's very possible to control who he gets to charge.

If you flip your pool a week in advance your mate could list his models and the pool and get some good advice here. There are plenty of scheme heavy pools where Colette should shine and frame for murder can be leveraged against Francois.

Similarly, scheme heavy screams Titania from NB.

  4. To the OP, what are the "extras" you guys have?  I can't speak for the Arcanists, but the NB I do have some experience with.  If he's running garbage added to a crew box it doesn't set up success.  My opinion is Gremlins aren't broken and, unless something has drastically changed recently, Ophelia is not even close to broken.  I make the recommendation to anyone playing NB if you want to win at all costs have the all-stars available.  If you want to have fun, play with models you like.

The faction that is most OP is whatever faction beat me last... or at least this is how it feels. When I first got started I played vs a lot of rezzers, and they seemed like the most OP thing in the world due to just beating me by attrition.

In all honesty though I do feel like pretty much any faction can beat any other faction. Specific master match ups may be a different story. You guys have a very limited pool of data, and I could not give any less of a care about "ranking" sites. They are very skewed by what gets reported and how, and that comes from me both as a TO and as the person who is apparently 10th best at malifaux according to that site. *eye roll*

Well that's obviously a biased opinion being 10th ranked on that website.  All kidding aside, despite the issues with reporting that's awesome John

  6. I'm still in the camp of 'don't rely on Brilliance to win you games' because I haven't seen a reason to trust other play styles.   So I generally prefer undying Huggy Bear.  I have never used Beckoners in a competitive list because Lilitu.  Better melee range, better Lure, I feel (just feeling mind) more able to put wounds on a model, same cost.  Doppel is great in scheme marker pools because of don't mind me, and in general because copying actions and cheating initiative which lets you be a little more aggressive since you can cheat to go first.  My opinion on Nekima is I love her.  However, 2 Illuminated for the cost of Nekima and a stone is usually where my mind goes.

  7. For me, rule of cool in this situation means 2 Teddies, Widow Weaver (to get Teddy full effect among other things with web markers) and Kade.  This type of list is one of 2 crews that got me into the game way back in 1st edition, along with Seamus (problems? throw zombie hookers at it).  I can't say pew pew Dreamer makes a ton of sense to me for the list, but summoning Dreamer always makes sense, and melee Dreamer I think makes a lot of sense depending on the strat and schemes.

  8. Not Whodares, obviously, but I'd look at removing Lelu and Stitched.  If you're trying to fit in Weaver you're looking at abusing WP.  And you've got beaters and damage dealers in spades. Er, Crows.  I've never once had Lelu do anything useful so I'm biased.  Stitched has been hit and miss, and often is just the best option to summon or to hire for the cost, so I try to make it work.  I've also really like using Primordial Magic to start and summoning Daydreams lately after getting a VP off Primordial for whatever strategy is there, obviously situational, but rush of magic is pretty legit.  Just my experience with casual games in a limited number so take it for what it is.  But if you're looking at jumping into Neverborn I'd look at getting the PM.  And definitely doppel.  Never leave home without it.

  9. @Fetid Strumpet I have been mostly paying attention to Neverborn boards for a while now, as Seamus is my only (and most loved) Rezzur master.  Have you posted your thoughts on his new upgrades and how he plays post wave 5 somewhere that I may read?  I understand he is still lower tier but a fin casual game with him may be in my future and I'd like to read your input.

    PS sorry for thread-jacking.

  10. Also how young do you think democracy is?  Democracy was around in the 6th century BCE.  Anybody with any kind of education should have heard about it at minimum in the early 1900's, not to mention that, given that the Breach is in Santa Fe NM in the super early 20th century we had a democracy in the US.

As for bagels, if the all powerful guild wanted bagels, they'd import them from earthside if they wanted to.  Gotta agree with @Mason and @-Loki- the history is there.
