  1. Generally the totems I take our either that or a proxy (govenor variety). But I am more apt to take the proxy more because of in my local metagame there are quite a few wp based crews ( I actually don't take enslaved much anymore but generally I run abuela with dita so I don't really find myself needing a 3rd obey).
  2. I generally play 2-4 games a week. I play at two different lgs on every monday and tuesday time permitting.
  3. Posts made here from people on the development side of Wyrd as well as interviews on podcasts have explicitly said that the game was not designed around master on master. It was in fact based around faction on faction basis.
  4. Darn Burns got a 5yr extension with San Divesy so for the next 6 yrs we will be seeing him come playoff time. Starts vodoo cursing him to blow his knee around next march/april.
  5. I wouldn't say counter her hard as much as I would say the have a lot of the tools needed to give her pause (damage really isn't the issue as much as that they as a faction have the most resource disruption compared to any other faction). Granted that could just be the way I play my particular colette crew ( I prefer to play her as a combat style list compared to the non interactive way). But also on a sidenote the 5 times or so I've played colette against various guild crews I haven't lost either. My personal believe on colette though is the only match up she is 50/50 on is hamelin (have yet to play a well played dreamer match yet so can't comment on how that matchup would play out) and that isn't saying much. However when you look at arcanists as a whole though they needed a crew to come out that wasn't a joke like the "rest of their book one masters" minus maybe ramos when a certain threshold of book 2 minions finally see release. I would say that the above statements I said though our purely just my perspective and our in no way fact.
  6. I'm assuming you played a brawl with 6 correct? Cause at least by the book they are only rare 3?
  7. Oh I don't disagree with you in the slightest betteman has no understanding of the traditions of the storied original (kinda) franchises. But the main problem is two other organizations also share our predicament, those being nashville and columbus. Know I know we were "promised" I believe 10-15 yrs ago that we would get the first nod to go back. However from a realistic approach even as much as I hate to say it that Nashville will get the nod over us due to them easily no questions asked fit geographicaly into whatever they will call the south east division. The only thing that "could" still get us are move at least in my humble opinion would be that when they realign before 12-13 that they announce 2 more franchises coming online soon (say within 2 years) that are both based in locations west of the mississippi river (KC and ? seattle or portland maybe) but if Quebec/Hamilton does get a team again I'd all but guarentee we get the shaft to moving back where we belong. And if they do get a 6 division again sorry to say as much as we want to go back east we won't.
  8. Winnipeg isn't a west team. Everyone thinks they are but for some reason people can't look on a map and see that they are basically a "mid west team" granted I understand there probably isn't a canadian mid west but if you look at a map Winnipeg is essentially in line with state of Misery (lol see what I did there) just way north of it. Also when (not if) phoenix moves next year (the real jets ironically) there is a big question of where they go (I've heard rumors of either Quebec, Hamilton, or Kansas city). Also as much as I would like to see the wings move east (to reignite our real rivalries Toronto, Boston, Shclitzburgh, sadly probably not Montreal I would assume they would be in same conference but probably different division. Unless they do go with a 4 division league we will probably not get to move back east. So unfortunatley we will have to deal with our little kid brother trying to kick us in the shins again (Chicago) while we do not care and win our division again for the umptenth time (big brother ignores the child and still whips them verbatim like we have the past 50 years though we were probably equals in the dead wing era we still dominated them in our supposed "rivalry"). Also even though Illitch has some pull with the governors do you actually trust that betteman will keep his word with us when it is pretty clear he dislikes our franchise. Also I would not be surprised if every western conference team minus San Jose and Vancover cause they would gain the most by us leaving the conference actually allow us to move back east when we are damn near guarented sell outs for their teams when we come to town.
  9. It is a very good book. There is a reason it is still read in modern day militaries. However I would advice having a dictionary around unless you are very good with archaic words around (it was written 2000+ years ago roughly) so it won't be something you are used to reading (where in modern day literature most things are spelled out verbatim for the reader to digest). But it really is a very good book. Hell from what i've heard buisnesses sometimes even require their employess to read it. I would however recomend that if you can do not buy a abridged version. Try your best to get a complete version it might be a little tough to read (pov perspective and examples due to ancient times=modern times not so much) but it gives a good way of looking at things compared to the usual way most western based societies view things.
  10. Given that like me your a detroit fan I see absolutley no problem for one year having 1 team that actually has to travel farther than we do. However the sale wasn't finalized till after the 11-12 schedule was made so that is why I see why it was too late too switch things around considering that arena's get booked quick for events it would be a logistical nightmare to switch things around.
  11. They had to schedual (spelling) was already made up when they were cleared to move. Now don't get me wrong I have nno love for betteman but having to make 29 other teams reschedual seasons just so one can go out west isn't the smartest move. Plus there will be a realignment before 12-13. And I'd like to add summer sucks with no hockey.
  12. I might be a little biased due to playing a colette crew with the duet. But I firmly believe any model that costs 9 or more points must be taken but used accordingly. Examples being jack daw, duet, lelu liluto (neverborne duet), copellius, ashes and dust, lucious, snowstorm and such. Not meaning if you take any of the above you are forced to playing a certain way but you must capitalize on there strengths in relationship to what they bring to their crews or you generally will feel underwhelmed at their cost/effect. I personally see bishop most like lucious in that he is a support model. His role is complimentry to support the things you are taking (assuming that he is in a student, viks, von schill, libby, ronin style list) he is the model that you send at the 3rd or forth model you intend to kill to tie down while viks, von schill take out the first and second kill priority target. Or in objective style mission (treasure hunt and the like) if you don't want to "waste" a ss user carrying the object or go take a zone and such he is without question the best in the terms of a defensible minion. The one thing that I sometimes get caught up in that I believe punk mentioned is the 40k mentality of you must make your points back certain models bishop being one of them with have a nightmare of a time "making it back" due to not being a damage base offensive model but generally with the exception of a few ss using masters with obscene damage range (u know viks, lady j, lilith, lcb, dita) it will take a absolute metric ton of activations from a high number of minions (like atleast 3-4) to bring him down.
  13. I think the problem with most people is they expect him to do damage. I believe if you use him to def 8 and paralyze something he makes a great tank to shut down a model or two you don't want to deal with at that moment while your viks/vonschill blast some other targets down. Also he is a great model to use for grabbing objectives and such due to his wound profile and defenses. I believe he just doesn't get used in the right sense by the majority of people who then comment on him being worthless.
  14. Lol mate, oh well to each his/her own when it comes to their opinions but I would easily rate guild in the top two in my own humble opinion (neverlose being #1 outcasts a close #3 ressers #4 and arcanist #5 discounting colette from being included with them). As to the title poster I feel your main problem is this you are guild also so their are two main weaknesses you have with the faction outside of three models we aren't quick (dita, guild hounds, watcher), and the second is more a non issue just about every model (minus hoffman assets) being living. The best advice I could give you is consider investing in lucious and two austringers. Austringers outrange ortega's minus nino. And assuming your a lady j player lucious is the "best way" at the moment of delievering lady j "quickly via (0) reinforcements to a area for her to clean up and get in the heart of a "ortega nest". The nest I'm referring to is the general 12-18" area she will have just about every model of hers in minus dita herself that advances uniformly up to the 10" dead zone she wants to work in. Or 2-3 groups of 2-3 models are generally the two prefered options of deploying a ortega crew.
  15. Ok I'm just coming into the thread here but do people not understand that the game designers have stated that the game is not balanced master to master? One of the complaints I always here is master x destroys master y so z is unbalanced. Now I do know that if one player only has one crew and the other only has that as well it can throw a monkey wrench in the equation. But people who designed this game have explicitly said in posts here or on podcasts that the " balance" of the game is based on faction to faction. Looking threw entire factions I think alot of detractors to specific situations would actually be able to see that hey crew x when I take a, b, c is fairly contained to be able to take on a specific crew in stratedgy/schemes. Now I understand some matchups are kind of harsh for opposing players but if you do focus on completing your stuff and just shortchanging your opponent one one of his/her 3 missons for lack of a better term it is not really hard to be able to pull out a succsessful match up. I do understand their are variables to what I just mentioned above. But is it that too hard to expect someone to not research crews and such if it is a high likelyhood of playing (example say you are in a league and play 1 game a week is it really to time intensive over the 164 hours of the week leading up to your play night if you know player X plays faction y so I should take a little time to familiarise myself with the ins and outs of what they can do).
  16. One thing I'm not really sure of but since see the unseen ignores duels/abilities to target anything that is not irresistable theoritcally if you were insig with dita you probably "could" (not a rules guru would need a marshal/wyrd employee's input) still target hamelin as well. If in a particular turn you didn't want to use shrug off for your zero.
  17. Executioner doesn't hurt either for levy due to (1) Last Rites to cut down on scrap/body counters though for his cost you could bring two dogs for (1) bury with the only disadvantage being half the range on the pulse/aura bury has.
  18. When I played my first matchup against hamelin I used colette. I just took kill protege and sabotage and I luckily drew slaughter as my strat. I focused on completing the schemes quickly and he had destroy evidence one so I sat the duet, jack daw, and colette on them. I took daw instead of cassandra due to her being wp 5 so I didn't have to worry about pipe trigger, and I used daw to just walk around to within 6'' of hame and put up no cheat/ss aura. And when I didn't have to move daw twice to keep up I would use him to target kill stolen. Me personally my take on Hamelin is that you must target stolen first and foremost due to basically negating his fast by always having to making 1 stolen due to them all dieing via target priority It greatly helps to have jack daw due to 12'' ranged surpressed attack ignoring harmless via terrifing and wp 7 for the paralyze check makes it easier than most and not having to cheat a bunch to target the stolen. Also if nix dies the hamelin player will have to be conservitive with hamelin cause if you kill all stolen then kill hamelin they just lose unless they have completed all their vp before you do. Also with guild preferably ortegas you have a range advantage that only hamelin himself can match no stolen should ever get to within 6" of any of your models unless you are purposley sacrificing said model to draw out hamelin into a kill zone, also with stubborn and say a gov proxy every ortega when defending in a duel (barring abuela and perdita who would be 9 but immune to influence) have a wp of 10 when defending so just about 5/6 times when your taking resist to any wp resist ability from their crew (barring hamelin spending ss) they do not have a chance at getting anything threw.
  19. Not forgetting that every ortega has shrug off so that it makes that particular matchup about pointless for hamelin to try and make the crew insignificant. And the stolen action thingy should never happen unless he makes one close to you and if he is close to the ortega crew he is getting alpha'd off the effing board real fast if you focus target priority on nix, stolen, and hamelin. While I agree with the posters in that both sonnia and perdita both have decent matchup's against hamelin, the main reason is mainly due to each master/crew having access to shrug off/dispel insignificant off which is something that no other faction/master/crew has currently in the game.
  20. Assuming that three models (perdita, abuela, and nephilim have los and our in range while the "string" being within 6" companions chosing to have neph go first, then dita , then grammy then papa then nino) including a 10 or higher card and a 7 and a 8 of masks in hand with a 13 for papa's spell: Neph activates obeys papa charges 7-8" (unsure of charge range one of the two don't really use him ever) dita activates obeys him 7-8" again, gramma obeys 7-8" papa goes moves 5" then takes ya with me boom works out to be in a perfect situation assuming a 7" charge on papa a 26" threat range if 8" a 29" range plus the aura/pulse is I believe 4" so his overall threat range assuming a perfect scenario is between 30 and 33" depending on what papa's charge stat is (I believe it is 7" but it might be 8" I'm unsure I have only used him once). However the "perfect scenario" requires a 10 to be flipped/cheated then a 8 mask or better for grammy and a 7 mask or better for dita then a 13 to be played on papa's spell so it is fairly card intensive and will require you to be positioned to set up pretty much a full alpha (activating everything you take) to set up including say nino to kill papa after papa has activated. and then the opposing crew will then essentially full alpha you right back. In reality though you would probably only need two obeys (say its 14") plus 5" walk then take ya with me for a 19" "walk" range plus a 4 or 5" pulse so a 23 or 24" threat range not to mention that a two obey alpha delievering papa is generally a little easier to pull off and much less card intensive.
  21. The biggest reason why pere has reckless is more than likely due to not having any model to obey him to make up for the distance that papa has. Granted I would probably prefer pere over papa but honestly unless you are playing newbs, pere should never hit more than tops two figures ever. And he is just as likely to be made a mockery of anyone who owns any model that can take a model with any type of obey/lure effect. I've had papa for like a year now and I have only once ever used him (90 point brawl) and in all honesty papa or pere (pretty much one and the same) are really not that game changing to warrent a adjustment to either of them.
  22. Sunshine lol. If that was a south park referance that is.
  23. Justice on a stripper pole, uncorking her head off so she doesn't get dizzy lol. Got my wad of bills over here young lady :canabis: :-)
