Yep to avoid a huge amount of probability turning off a bunch of people viewing this a straight flip for damage on a fresh deck (1-2 activations into a turn) there is only around a 20-25% (math would give a exact but don't wanna turn people away) chance of hitting severe naturally on a straight flip. Also the average "hand" must will draw from say turn three on (due to building your hand up over first two turns then expending it on two or three) is 1 severe, two moderate, and two weak cards plus an additional "wild card". So most of the time when I construct a list for a non casual game (competitive environment) I make the list up with this in mind. Often times what this does in a game is that the one severe damage they due that turn turns their (opponents hand) to a few moderates and weaks left for the rest of the turn to cheat their totals with.
  2. I like how you put a value to cards in your hand. I often (don't put a value but I don't often play a faction with a bunch of inbuilt +'s to damage) value any card in my hand of a 8 or higher. 6-7's I normally value to cheat to a - flip for damage on an opponent attack or best case scenario I cheat for a - flip then they have to cheat a severe in for a straight flip, don't hit a severe on said flip and then have to spend a second severe out of their hand for 1 severe damage.

  5. She isn't effected if she kicks farther than 1" away. However if she kicks then no continous strike triggers from claws. Also if she ends up in combat with lilith she isn't long for the world unless you have ss's and she doesn't. If you played her you might consider taking a friekorps librarian to heal threw the damage inflicted by black blood. However the libby will have one heck of a time keeping up with mei when she heads out in a attack run on non master nephilim.
  6. Mature and young nephilim have "broken charge" ie diving attack. Unless you play on a open board their is no way you are ever shooting them before they kill you.

  8. I would buy one gunslinger and kaeris and save yourself $15 bucks. Fire gamin are worthless. Buy the mei box + rail golem. With the 15 bucks you saved buy metal gamin. And if you like a all elite approach buy a steamborg executioner at a later date when you have the cash. Mei really makes him usuable via iron skin helping to keep him alive.

Yay they make the squishy arcanist masters playable (marcus essentially object two, ramos armor2 + object 2, Raspy object 2 plus bear skin cloak), they make slow book 1 models able to get into the fight (joss and steamborg executioner). Good first jump points for mei. Collette is really the only masster/henchmen that doesn't gain a lot by them but she doesn't really need anything from them either.
  10. Its a special rule the pathfinders have forget what it is off the top of my head but it lets you deploy traps within x" of him. They also can start "orimed" as well but that is on their card.
  11. Don't get me wrong the rail golem is a good model. But it is not op'd. It can be taken down but it isn't gonna be taken down by one model (barring leve he can get it in one activation). I personally believe it is costed appropriatley. I think izamu might be underpointed slightly but its not op'd either.
  12. The only gw product I will still buy is blood bowl. OF course currently that is all second hand market stuff currently. And the whole reason is because of their pricing. Ironically it is the same reason I play malifaux. For around 100 dollars us I can get what I want and play it. Granted threw time you spend on other things but compared to other game systems (gw or pp mainly off the top of my head) I don't want to shell out 300-500 dollars just to get a new addition to add to my collection. I believe malifaux has found a great price point for their game as far as miniture game systems go. For around 65$ you by the rules manual, a box set, and a additional blister and bam you can get into the game and play a 30ss game size. For another 10-15$ you get one more blister and you are at the 35ss size game so for 80$ dollars (american) you have a full fledged crew to play.
  13. I'd disagree on aRamos. He is quite similiar to how guild crews role. He is solid at what he does however if you kill his crew he faulters. He has serious problems hitting high def masters (7+ def). He loses toolkit when he manifests so much harder to get consistent electrical creations off. If he gets tied up by def 7 or 8 masters he won't do anything to them and their crew kills your crew. Mei Feng is good but is not a master killer she is a minion killer. Granted she can kill low defense masters but the heavy hitter ones (def 7+) she will struggle against. However her crews can be buffed to be made more survivable. Also the obscuring aoe's she and a couple others can do our great at protecting pieces as well. Colette in my opinion is probably our best master. However she is also the most complicated one to get going. You really have to understand threat ranges + placement to get the most out of the crew. And someone just learning the game this might be a bit too much to digest in addition to all the rules you have to start learning as well. Don't get me wrong she can do great things but a misplaced activation and you can be hurting with her. My advice would be to pick someone you just like to learn the game with. As you grow into the game figure if you want to stay with master/stuff or branch out. If you like to be competitive after you learn the system you would want to branch out into one of three type arcanist crews (mei, colette, or ramos(a) ) also ramos original has actually gained a bit now with the new gaining grounds up. He still has a couple things going against him but he is not bad at all with the new years tournament missions up. But that is ahead of the curve atm. Just pick something up first you enjoy thematically and learn the system, then worry about tournaments and stuff after you learn the game. My humble 2 cents worth.
  14. If you can't find one try to pick up a genestealer arm. Has the same type look. It is thicker than the coryphee arms. So you might want to pick up a pair of them to use on that coryphee. I did up one of mine due to missing a arm as well and they don't look bad. The shoulder is a bit big for hole so you might need to trim it down a bit. Bonus they do not fall of anywhere near the frequency of cory arms if you don't pin them.
  15. Who is nekima ? Oh you mean that piece that costs too much for countercharge duty when their is plenty of figures in the faction that can do the same for less points and they just lose the + towards damage totals. Jack Daw the undying with aZ. Unless your playing against leve.
  16. I already own daw but the ortega in me craps all over the traitor never will I buy that filth that a convict gunslinger outdamages and costs less than. Put it this way I'm a Red Wings fan that is like me dropping my team and rooting for the Leafs just won't ever stoop that low.

  18. I miscalculated first list I'd drop madness and roll with a 7ss cache to afford avatar or I would drop avatar entirely in first list unsure atm.
  19. Just crossed over into borne about a month ago. Picked up: Z, aZ, insidious madness, voodoo doll, box of wicked dolls for summoning, twins, coppelious, doppleganger, brutal effigy, and soon to be a arcane effigy. Was thinking of breaking my stuff in today at a tournament. Long time dita player so am very familiar with how obey works (at least non mask in ca obey). Was planning on running this list if I can pick up arcane doll before tournament (the event is 35ss declared faction, new gaining grounds): Z avatar 2ss doppleganger 8ss Coppelious 9ss twins 14ss 7ss cache Or if a buddy has some beckoners I can use in addition: madness 4ss arcane or brutal if cannot pick arcane up 4ss 2x beckoners 10ss twins 14ss avatar 2ss 6ss cache Look alright to those viewing? Any problems I'm missing with these two? The strats for tournament our line in the sand, beatdown, and new claim jump. Figure I use first list for beatdown and line in sand and second list for claim jump. Thank you to any and all who reply .

Two mei arcanist builds I have been running under new gaining grounds: Mei, emberling, oiran (lure is honestly in my opinion one of the top 3 spells in the game), metal gamin, kaeris, student, rail golem 7ss. Mei, ember, rail golem, mech rider (rail golem+mech rider much better than kang johan combo except for hitting high def models), metal gamin, desperate merc , oiran, small spider 6ss. 2nd list is more rail walker heavy but is more the mei is a obj grabber type one. 1st list is she+kaeris alternate fast every turn (only 2 railwalk points), mei uses iron skin from trigger on herself but base (0) iron skin on usually mech rider. Mech rider + rail golem do the lifting of the list. I like this for kill strats (new claim jump, beatdown). First list for treasure hunt. I run colette for line in the sand (who wouldn't if you own them). I will probably run the showgirls for treasure as well but at the moment I am trying to get reps in with mei atm so she gets treasure duties.
  21. Keep duet away from pandora until it is time to kill her if you have too. When you move in on her cresendo is your friend (doesn't target no wp/wp duel) but duet doesn't want to fall back so avoid it if you can (18" towards closest edge mental anguish should not be a trigger for all her spells). Doves are great due to df 15 duel or take damage cause of her defense 2.

  23. Largest I have played was a 100ss brawl. We extended the board to 5"x3" so templates weren't way too good. For me it was sonnia+dita vs seamus plus 50ss ressars + ramos or raspy + 50ss arcanists. It was fun because me plus the two other players got to use like 80+% of the stuff we owned at the time all at once. Game took about 3.5 hours (called it early due to at around 4 it was clear guild would take the day). Kinda like a apocolypse game for malifaux. Guild suprised me at the level due to the force multiplier of so many guns on the field (primarly 3-4 death marshals, every ortega, samuel, two austringers plus two masters) I also enjoyed that I had enough points to have like 65/35 shooty melee split. Because of this their was basically a 10" dead zone my crew projected that because of the # of models we had nothing that didn't have use ss could live threw two activations of shooters. If I where to play another huge style game again I wouldn't take as many range models to make it more sporting. But it was fun to be able to use damn near my whole collection at the time.

You get fast also on reactivation as well. ---------- Post added at 03:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:33 PM ---------- Messed up the order in what I said you have to kill the performer before the 2nd cory swaps in and replaces so you form up and keep reactivate given to the cory by performer that dies.
