  1. I don't think many lists are actually "gunline." Both of the masters you mentioned shoot yes, but both of them are designed to be a bit more dynamic. Opehlia can do a decent gunline if you spam their basic minions, but even even they have some good maneuver bonuses. I would think that Perdita would be the biggest straight up gunline, as well as maybe lucius and a lots of guards. Anyway these are just some quick thoughts. Welcome to the hobby! Regards, TV
  2. Awesome episode as usual guys. Props to Rathnard, your segment is looks ace! Regards, TV
  3. It all depends on what you want. Looks like you caught on, but I'll just say again, get the Chihuahua if you're not using another totem. A t worst he's 1 SS for (at least) 2 body parts that you don't have to spend any actions on, so I consider him almost a freebie/auto-take. The crooked man has some ranged aoe which is a nice feature in a resser list. The guild autopsies are situational, but also get you your ranged fix; however you have the gunslinger which is a pretty good ranged choice already. I would at least entertain the idea of using desperate mercenaries. Simply due to the fact that they cost as much as dogs and drop corpse counters (unless you sacrifice them), McM has.. uses for them. Till then, unlike dogs, they can shoot and stuff, so they're pretty cool for the cost. I assume you will have the flesh construct. He is better to summon that pay for I find. Model is not out yet, but I definitely suggest checking out the rogue necromancy. I would never pay for him when you can summon him with McM, but he does a LOT of really nice things that McM's crew would not be able to do. He also scares the crap out of people when he pops up, and best of all he can pretty much be recycled the moment he dies! I just use a suitable proxy, it's worth the trouble let me tell you! Nice to see the rotten belle in there. Awesome choice, I always bring one. I have very little experience with bette but I would think that you'd need to build a crew around her or she would not be as effective. Take it as you will. Something you have no mentioned at all are the hanged and JACK (expletive)-ing DAW. So, the hanged are pretty cool. They give a WP duel aspect that McM with his terribad WP5 is usually trying to avoid, this way you can fight back. But then there was jack daw. There is one important ability here, where he can cast an aura, and anyone within it cannot uses soulstones cheat fate etc. THIS IS HUGE if setup properly, and I think it's beautiful synergy with McM. Example: Pandora with no SS haXXors to protect her thanks to Jack. McM runs in. Pandora is very dead, and it's really as easy as that. Alright, I think I gave a least a bit of food for though, I hope you cna find some use in it! Regards, TV
  4. Autopsies are a pretty good example the way factions are lists are balanced in a lot of systems, not just malifaux. They have guns, which doesn't usually happen with ressers. However for what they cost as a shooter compared to say, guild stuff, they don't match up in a straight fight. In other words you pay a premium for a type of unit you would not otherwise have. That being said, they not JUST chaff. They are particularly well suited against *living models* powers (so they shoot but their abilities make them a "psych" unit as well) especially ones with average to low willpower. I like these models too, but like a good list of other stuff, they're quite situational. This may seem like a disadvantage, but I disagree when it comes to McM. The solution, I think, is*Don't buy autopsies* unless you know they will be super well suited against a certain crew (ie lucius guard spam). Why buy them when you can summon them? The wonderful thing about McM is that he can go into a game and then adapt his crew during play to suit the situation, and for this, having specific models for specific situations is excellent. I am a big fan of the models too so I've put at least some thought into what situations they would be well suited to. Some ideas: Autopsies are *not* insignificant but are relatively cheap. Furthermore they are ranged fighters. If you put one inf cover, I bet they could survive at least a bit of shooting. Autopsies also have a key rule that dictates that they drop no corpse counter. This can generally be considered a disadvantage for a resser crew, who want to cycle counters. However, it also denies the enemy counters. I believe all these features can combine for a cool unit. McM has some problems in holding ground and generally anything that requires non-insignificant models to hold or be counted or whatever. His cheap stuff is generally insignificant so to contest a table quarter you need commit a decent investment of soul-stones in model(s). Since most of his stuff is also close ranged, it means that they will probably not be supporting you in fights if they have to hold ground. The autopsy fixes both these problems. You can get to a nice spot, summon the blighter into cover on a quarter or objective that requires a model to contest, and leave him be. He can support you in combat a bit from afar, and at the same time hold the line somewhere that is important but not as dangerous. This level of independence is not something I would say is easy to obtain otherwise in the resser list and is the key to using the model successfully. If it's far off you also will care less about the fact that it doesn't drop a counter because you'd probably have to put some effort to go get the counter if it was dropped anyway. I honestly think of it from a general military, to be specific, a Napoleonic (don't forget good ol' Frederick though!) perspective. You can use a cheap unit that would die easily in open combat to hold ground. If they are positioned defensively in cover etc, they can make up for their lack of effectiveness/quality provided they stick to cover/ a superior position. Your opponent will have to commit a larger investment to take them out in this scenario, making your cheap unit much more cost effective. This also frees up your more effective units to attack the enemy. All right, so it's super late here and this definitely turned into a theoryhammer rant of epic proportions. I hope you can read through this and get something good out of it anyways! Regards, TV PS: everyone says it but I'll say it again, get dogs! Desperate mercs are an interesting alternative to mix in as well though.
  5. To be honest I found, even though I built lists around them, that the nurses were pretty situational. You definitely do NOT need them for McM. They're not a bad unit btw, but you pretty much will never need 2, and they definitely qualify as "advanced" if you want to play them in such a way that they are worth the cost. Regards, TV
  6. Of course, I'm just saying that they *must* have consciously decided to change the model, rather than a casting error. Regards, TV
  7. Wow, that original model is waaaay cooler! There's no way that the green to mould process changed her that much in and of itself though. Regards, TV
  8. My two main masters are McM and Leveticus, and I have to say I'm very pleased that the big "Aalone" guys is for McM. It just seemed to fit better. Now that I'm also seeing the Leveticus avatar I am glad they kept the feels they did for both sets of models. Regards, TV
  9. Let's just say I'm worried until I see a better picture. Regards, TV
  10. Didn't have to "view results" to see where this was going. Regards, TV
  11. Games will be hard to come by till September around here, but I'm in. Hopefully I'll get the rest of the gaming group in on it too come fall, which could make for over a dozen. (TV) Entry 1: McMourning Entry 2: Leveticus Regards, TV
  12. I have *always* been an all-comers list guy, as I thought it encouraged innovative play style and was necessary for tourneys which constituted the vast majority of my games. However malifaux actually has an in-built list tailoring system that is arguable a part of the balancing of the game as a whole. As such I am open to the idea and looking forward to seeing how it plays out in gaming events. We will probably be starting with almost fixed lists to be fair to newer players and events but I think we will be growing in the direction of list-tailoring, it's just how the rules are. Regards, TV
  13. It seems more likely that they will be horrors as that is a summoning slot they are missing. The rules specify them but there are currently no rules for them. It's pretty safe to assume then. I guess there would be a slight possibility they are both for more molly synergy, but I don't think that would fit if they're supposed to be McM creations... Regards, TV
  14. -All GW games, including most specialty -Flames of War -Some 15mm Napoleonic -Malifaux -Warmahordes -A few ancients era games Probably more.. Regards, TV
  15. I am going to go ahead and presume the crooligans are the much needed 30mm horrors that Molly will be using. I'm am really hoping I can get the Molly set by our event in early november... pleaaase 8) Regards, TV PS: |I'm really glad wyrd gave out the release map this early.
  16. Having been in a "pit of noob" (jk I'm not being negative) getting all these new players going, being a bit clueless myself in the heat of the moment, and meeting others from other communities, we were all doing something or other wrong. For common rules feel free to just play it as you are not sure about the rules so you'd like to check. For his stuff you already did the right thing, as there's kind of a backlash from people questioning other people's armies for the alleged tactic of delaying the game. Unless you know those forces well it's best to wait till afterwards, do your research, and correct next time in a polite way. Regards, TV
