  1. Looking good! I think I actually like this more than my original basing (which was just bland stage planks). Nice work.
  2. Here are a few more pics- The separated crew- Kirai- Mural crew- better angle- Trimming the hedges-
  3. No, the rest have a distinct vibe in various basing-themes that are relevant to the individual model. I figured that if I kept going a.) I would take forever b.) It might start to be "too much." My initial plan was just for this small crew, and I am happy with it. I'll post more pics as the others are finished.
  4. Agreed. No, it is all done with an 18/0 liner brush. Thanks, everybody, for the praise!
  5. Behold- The crew magnetizes together. It doesn't really make them easier to move, but it helps line up the bases so they are flush when they are in the display case. The scroll on the mural reads "vengeance" (I hope). Overall, I am happy with the results. There are a few things I would change, if I had it to do over again (making the bricks wrap around the sides of the wall, adding some source lighting around the Seishin, which I didn'tdo due to the construction of the bases not allowing it, a few other little issues). Anyway, thanks for following my progress on this crew. I'll post the other models as I get them finished. I think Datsue-Ba and the Onryo will be next. Also, thanks to Ratty for the idea for switching the claws on Ikryo with GW Ghouls.
  6. I have considered it... I guess I could work something in to replace the Ikryo and Kirai models- not sure with the base sizes, though. I might just do a similar basing. Not sure if I could do the screens- I'll have to see the model.
  7. I'll do you one better- I will post an UPDATE!!! I have the crew attached to their bases- now to finish the woodwork and the bases, then attach the mural and clear coat. Here is a close up on the corpses on the base- note the Kanji on the foreheads.
  8. Thanks! I was tempted to go the whole "Geisha" route with makeup, but I decided to go the "I've given up on life and I've been crying a whole bunch" look instead.
  9. I'm really glad you feel that way- that was my original artistic intent... My wife's comment of "It's cool. It looks Christmas-y." made my blood run cold, as I realized she was correct. I think that the addition of the backgrounds will temper the holiday spirit a little. The bases are almost done... I should have final pics within a few days.
  10. I love the rich reds on both the Lawyer and Lucius- really sets the models apart as distinct, important leaders. Also, love the mansion. I can't wait to see what Ryle's cage looks like.
  11. ***UPDATE*** Kirai and Ikryo are more or less done- Bases obviously still need a lot of work, and they still need a little touch up, but the figures are pretty much done. Yes, I am aware that Kirai has kind of a Christmas color scheme going on- it was not intentional. I copied the color and pattern scheme from an old Japanese print, and realized only after I was done that it was all Christmasy. Whatever. She will be ready for the holiday gaming season. Now to finish the lower section of the bases and join everything together.
  12. Man, I was gonna post the same thing... Put the two models together, and they would be NSFW. Otherwise, very nice, clean work. I too like the Silent One a lot, as the fur and color scheme are particularly nice.
  13. Looking good. Nice use of cheap materials to build an impressive terrain piece.
  14. ***UPDATE*** I am near completion on the mural for the group- I have a friend at UW Madison working on the Kanji for the scroll, but otherwise it is done. I cherry-picked images from a number of old Japanese prints depicting spirits to piece together the mural. Here it is with the minis, so you can get an idea of the final composition (and the basic base colors for the minis) The screens look wonky here because they are just kind of pinned on, not flush like they will be in the end. Here is the back with the minis- my "retouch" tool did something crazy to the image as I was censoring it, so ignore the weird crotch-wave. In all, it is slowly coming together, and has proven a much more massive project than I ever anticipated.
  15. Oh, do go on! But seriously, thanks. I really appreciate the compliments. Also, sorry about the dark pics- black primer on black background is pretty stupid.
  16. I accepted your challenge, and did the Fisherman's Wife as my Kirai crew back mural. Check it out- http://wyrd-games.net/forum/showthread.php?t=23239&page=3

  17. UPDATE!!! I've taken on the challenges set by thatnicguy and Saint Norton, and have reached show-offable levels of progress- "The Fisherman's Wife," the back mural (the one that will face backwards, not the one right behind the models). Dr. Zoidberg, Amy, NOOOOOO!!!!! Before you all accuse me of being a total pervert, this is taken directly from a famous piece of early modern Japanese erotica, "The fisherman's Wife" (Google it- NSFW). I figured it would be appropriate for some place like the Qi and Gong. This will face backwards in my display case, as to not alarm guests. The front-facing mural will be much tamer, and more spirit based. Speaking of spirits, here is one of my Seishin with his friend, the Bonsai tree- Here are the rest of the Seishin- basing is not done, but they are. Also, here is some of the more notable other basing I've been working on- Datsue-ba's cutaway boat- The stone lantern- THe rest of the bases are going to have a Japanese graveyard theme, which will be hard, since I don't read or write Japanese. Anyway, let me know what you think, call me a perv, whatever.
  18. I take commissions, if you are really interested in seeing more... up close... Also, SOLD, to a lovely gentleman from England! Thanks all for looking!
  19. I will do this conversion for anyone who is interested, free of charge, as long as you pay shipping costs. I am dead serious.
  20. Thanks for all the accolades! The real reason I am selling them (besides being broke) is that I am abandoning the Arcanists to focus on factions that I can play more competitively (ie Guild and Ressers), since Collette is the only Arcanist crew I own (or plan on owning).
  21. I agree with the OP- this was a great opportunity to sculpt a bad-ass model, and that opportunity was abandoned for some reason. I think Ratty might be on to the reason (maybe a rush job), but I can't imagine that there was a terribly well-thought-out concept sketch involved here.
