Can a model block LOS to another model?
Lysis replied to Mike3838's question in Malifaux Rules Discussion
I have thought about this from time to time as well, and have sided that, for ease of play and good comradery, that a single 30mm base won't block LoS between 2 other models on 30mm bases without the help of terrain or a 4th model. It just isn't worth the debate at the price of fun. However... as a TO, I have a cheap-o laser level from a hardware store to settle any disputes. If a player can place a model with such high accuracy on the fly in a game setting (yes, i would demand it be physically placed perfectly if they are going to make this claim of blocking LoS), then I'd let the laser speak for itself - blocked would be blocked. -
With my friends/group, we just look at it based on how far from the "missed" flip we are. for instance... Player A attacks an Illuminated Player A flips his attack card Player B remembers the horror duel Both players agree that single attack card will retroactively count as horror duel (or if it was a multi card flip, then whichever card would have been first is the card that counts). If Player A fails the dual, all cards are discarded and play continues... If the defender has flipped cards, we just move along and follow what Dracomax says. If someone has cheated, then we definitely don't go back to correct it.

Lysis replied to The Godlyness's topic in News, Reviews, & Discussion
I will be bringing a few gents from St. Louis to their first Malifaux tournament experience. We're all really looking forward to it as a change of pace from the 40k scene we have played in in the past (at adepticon) -
Adepticon is less than a month away. Rules updated

This would also mean that being near your partner's models would prevent shooting actions, of course. -

Thanks for the update Nathan! Just as an "in the field" report of what Nathan said, my LGS got their big rulebooks re-stocked today.

Found a mistake: Neverborn Mr. Tannen is offered 2 upgrades he shouldn't: "Wanna See a Trick" and "Useless Duplications"

Thursday the 27th, the local M2E crowd will be available for Malifaux play at Game Nite ~ 5pm (earlier time is possible if need be). I will be available for Demos all evening for interested parties! Last time we had 3 games going, and the demo netted us a new Lilith player - huzzah for neverborn! I have confirmed that at least 6 of us will be on site, with strong maybes from 2 more. Hope to see more new faces!

SC's new Malifaux painting thread (post-switch to white)
Lysis replied to SpiralngCadavr's topic in Miniature Showcase
I love the Negative image your "nothingness" brings with it here. The inversion of colors on your void wretches is a fun twist! But most of all, I think pictures of them on the tabletop/terrain you play on would help the most in showing your detail. The black and white backgrounds are kind of hard to look at lol Personally I'd leave the base off of the NB, I think, as it might take away from his imposing mass (or make him take up even more space). It all depends on how they look on the tabletop itself. -
Along these lines, what if you you use Jakob's (0) Pay Up to go sifting for masks? Depending on how much brilliance is on the board, you might be able to cherry pick a good number of cards without losing high cards from other suits (because they get shuffled back in). Then you finish Lynch's turn with Final Debt.... and call it a game.... That spurs another question: If you flip the Red Joker while doing the Pay Up ability, do you get to choose Masks as its suit and keep it?....

I cannot second this enough - I'm already looking forward to my town's worth of buildings... These mats would be great for my LGS too! -
Sounds great - but i won't be available again till Friday or Saturday night. Send me a PM when we get closer if you're still available. Thanks

Good evening - So I've finally broken down and downloaded this Vassal thing, and I've tooled around with it a bit... but it really looks like the best way to learn it will be to just play with it. On that note, is anyone interested in a small game where they could show me the ropes on this new fangled thing? I know the rules to M2E, so thats not a hurdle, and will be available around 8:15 (the baby should be asleep by then). If anyone is game, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Adepticon 2014 April 3-6, 2014 Registration opens tomorrow!
Lysis replied to Shadowopal's topic in North America
As this year will be my first team event with Malifaux, this may be a silly question but could someone tell me how two teammates regard one another's models? Will your partner's crew be regarded as "Friendly?" or just as a non-enemy? I ask due to abilities like Tara or Lynch that want you to be the first or last friendly model to activate. If a whole team is considered Friendly, then this complicates matters if your partner has fewer models, but needs to go last (and can't) due to the activation rotation. -

Not to keep beating the horse, but the summary card could use the following additions: Soulstone: +2 cards (during draw) re-flip initiative Thanks for getting these together and curating them!

I'm glad this game is easy on the wallet!
Lysis replied to The Strange Dude's topic in Malifaux Discussion
I know that i got sucked in after a 40k tourney with a simple.. "oh hey look... playing cards?" If only I had known how far the rabbit hole went. I've infected 2 others in a week with Malifaux, and it's catching faster... should someone call the CDC? -
I haven't played Horus Heresy or any FFG games besides arkham horror, but you better clear your calendar for a day to play one ( specially on the first time through). I generally have liked the depth of them though, so I know i'll be watching reviews too.
