  1. Yeah Collette's crew are a fantastic group of models. As already mentioned she is viewed as one of the harder masters to....master...sorry had to. But if you don't mind the learning curve and you want models that are interesting to paint they are up there. I also think Kirai's models can be really interesting to paint as well given all the different types of spirits there are. Hmmm what else would I consider good painting challenge...all the new plastics are amazing but I understand if you don't want to wait for their release. My girlfriend is having a lot of fun painting her Kaeris box and those are fun models to play with as well. Honestly I would just go with your gut on your first crew. I got Marcus to start with and have never really looked back....even if most of my models are from neverborn dont judge me they have cool beasts! The game is inexpensive enough that if your first crew doesn't float your boat you can pick up another after you have finished painting it. Anyway Welcome to the game! hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
  2. I really like your work. I like that I'm seeing paint schemes you usually don't see on these models. I like them a lot.
  3. yeah when I first sat down to play it after about half an hour I realized I was playing a sci-fi malifaux video game...I mean thats pretty much what it is. Squad sight is pretty much my favorite ability ever although you cant really go wrong with run and gun either.
  4. Just picked this up last night and having a blast so far. Anyone else on here playing this? There seems like SO much customization in this game that people can all end up playing completely different games based on HQ builds and research and squad members...Anyone got any favorite tactics or weapons?
  5. yeah I beat the game twice now! Second playthrough I got the "mostly flesh and steel" achievement. It was fun...I basically just upgraded my pistol completely and murdered everything that moved....mostly because my first time around I was sneaky the whole time.
  6. Hey guys! just a heads up I will have a table running demo games up at Mothership Books and Games this wednesday the 17 from 8pm to midnight ish. Hope to see some new players! The store info is here. 2121 West Parmer Lane #119 Austin, TX 78727 (512) 516-5067
  7. I have only made it through the first real mission after the prologue this morning but I really really like the game. I've cleared both the prologue and the first mission with low chaos...but I have to admit I am not the sneakiest assassin there ever was... I try really really hard to not alarm people or at the very least sleep dart them or choke them out...and then every once in a while I will be seen and have no where to run and am forced to kill some people....brutally...but it is a lot of fun...i like possessing rats and crawling into all the little secret areas.
  8. Does your local store have no interest in carrying Malifaux? or is it just hard to get people to play things other than 40k. I know here in Austin it is almost impossible to get a new game past the warhammer/ warmahordes wall. If your store is open to carrying a new game ask if they will be willing to let you do demos in their store. Also if there isn't a henchman in your area maybe you could register to be one. Thats how I got the game started here Some friends and I thought it looked like a cool game, I signed up to be a henchmen and offered to run demos and events for their store. They like the idea of someone promoting a game for them. With what you own, Criid vs the vicks would allow people demoing the game to see how everything works. (Melee from the vicks spells from Criid, lots of interesting triggers.) Plus if you get everyone that is interested in the game to meet up at the same time to play, that sells the game itself. My first league only had about 4 to 6 people most of them were my friends. Just by playing as a group and showing a presence our next league had more than double that. and that was only a few months later. Anyway hope that helps, and good luck!
  9. Hes the Carver, hes the big bad guy in one of the Halloween story missions. He isn't really a playable model hes sort of the final Boss type guy.
  10. While playing borderlands 2 I had the idea of a group of psychics who were addicted to soulstone energy. (Like the Sirens that use Iridium to enhance their powers.) So you could have a telepath master who could copy other models abilities like the doppelganger, or was powerful with lure/ mind control type powers, or giving her crew extra activations etc. You could also have telekenetics who could lift and throw objects on the board at people as their range attacks, or have their range attacks be like "Thrown object" that in addition to doing damage place a 30mm height 3 object in front of the target. You can have technomancer type models that are a pair of models for 1 soulstone cost like a normal person and a machine they control with their minds. Even Siren type characters who have lots of manipulation spells. (Paralyze, poison, slow, pushes) Anyway...just a crazy Idea I had while sitting at work...

Hope to see you guys there, send me a message if you have any questions. For those who don't know where we are here is Dragon's lair's info. 6111 Burnet Road Austin, TX 78757-3226 (512) 454-2399
  21. They may be randomly inserted? Im not certain but a friend of mine opened one of the boosters and got one soooo thats my best guess
  22. Awesome! and its one of my favorite video games as well
  23. Malifaux does share a few things in common with confrontation and Warmachine. There is alternate activation and you do sort of build your crew around a central character. One big difference with Malifaux that I love is that you dont automatically lose the game when your master (warcaster) dies. Also there is some cool resource management put into the game in the form of soul stones and a control hand. I really like the small model count and individual activations. Coming from a Warmachine and Warhammer background this was a really nice change of pace and if you enjoy playing undead then this game is great for you. The ressers have some of the goofiest but awesome models / tactics I've seen in a game but come on...zombie hookers? Anyway I hope you decide to investigate further and I hope you enjoy this game as much as the rest of us! Welcome to Malifaux! enjoy your stay.
