  1. If you know an artist who'd be interested I don't mind in the least, but unless you like stick figures I can't offer much myself... :1244:
  2. When you realize you've just glued the base on upside-down.
  3. Working on part two now. I've got a five to six part story planned out so far, but it could go further. Part two should be up in two or three days.
  4. “Malifaux is a scary place, even to the best of us. There’s a lot of things that like to eat you, a lot of people who want what you have, and death comes in every color of the rainbow (which is thirty-seven here. I’ve counted.) It’s not easy being green.” Doctor Thomas “The Bad Doctor” Paine Gremlins never frown. More accurately they have two expressions, maddened glee and boredom. Both are equally dangerous. However Doctor Thomas Paine was the exception to this rule. He frowned for most of his waking hours, and when he was asleep he grimaced like someone in great discomfort. Paine was born with a trait unheard of in Gremlins, something which he dubbed Common Sense. It was this odd and frightening ability he was currently employing with his long time friend, Jones. “I’m telling you Jones, now isn’t the time to do anything serious. The Guild and the Union are having a cold war right now, but pretty soon it’ll turn hot. When it does, we can strike without fear of serious repercussions.” Jones, known to most of Malifaux as “Somer Teeth”, started at Paine for several minutes silently chewing on a long swamp reed. Jones was intelligent for a Gremlin, but sometimes the Doctor spoke in words he couldn’t understand or pronounce. “Co’ War?” He said the phrase with uncertainty. Paine thought for a moment, translating the concept into terms his friend could understand. “They fight like sissies. Shoot at each others backs. Call names. But when one goes to far…Boom.” He ended his statement with a hand gesture mimicking an explosion. Jones understood immediately, and nodded. He spat the reed, chewed to a green paste, into a nearby bucket and stood up. “Show ya somethin’. C’mon.” He walked out of the crude hut and gestured for Paine to follow him, which he did. Outside of Jones’ hut, the Gremlin base was a maze of crude architecture and uneven fences. Paine himself engineered the most elaborate of them, a tall metal fence electrified by means of a crude soulstone generator. It kept some of the largest hogs from rampaging around the camp…as long as they were fed regularly. They stopped in front of the largest building, the Doctor’s own hospital/workshop. And Jones turned to his friend and advisor. “Present. For when Co’ War gets hot. ” Saying this, Jones heaved open the heavy double doors of the building. Inside, separated into three piles on the open floor of the workshop were the remains of three peacekeepers. The Doctor’s frown quickly turned into a deep smile, and he slapped Jones heartily on the back. “We’re gonna have some fun with these babies.” He said, grabbing the nearest wrench. ----- I noticed a shocking deficiency of stories about Gremlins, so I wrote one about a Gremlin who has more brains than normal. I hope this is as much fun to read as it was to write, and I apologize that it's a little rough, I have a tendency to not post things if I don't do it quick. As the title implies, I'm planning to write at least one more of these. It's just too good an idea to let go to waste.
  5. As someone who enjoys the fluff very much I'd appreciate avoiding any spoilers. So please make it obvious in thread titles!
  6. The new book sounds pretty awesome, I'm looking forward to seeing it in person.
  7. Pictures over in this thread.

I tip my hat to you sir! That is the single funniest thing I've seen all week!
  9. I've been working on and off on a fan-based RPG for Malifaux. So far, I've got some very basic notes. I've posted them up here for you to see, and give criticism to. The game would use the same combat system and fate decks as the miniature game. Without further ado: Suit Scores 2 Soulstones per Point. Max Score = 5. (0-Deficient, 1-Poor, 2-Sup-par, 3-Average, 4-Good, 5-Excellent) Ram :rams [buffs, Healing, Physical Damage, Willpower.] Crow :crows [Armor, Death, Decay, De-buffs, Undead, Wounds.] Mask :masks [Control, Deception, Defense, Speed.] Tome :tomes [Constructs, Elements, Magical Damage, Magical Ability.] Combat Modifiers 1 Soulstone per Point (Total Modifier = Relevant Suit + Bought Mod.) Cb [How accurate you are with physical weapons. Based off :crows ] Df [How well you can avoid being hit. Based off :masks ] Wp [Your ability to resist magic. Based off :rams ] Ca [Your ability to use magic. Based off :tomes ] Passive Modifiers Total based on Suit Scores. DMG Modifier (Phys) [Adds to damage from physical weapons. Based off :rams ] (See Chart) DMG Modifier (Magic) [Adds to damage from magical attacks. Based off :tomes ] (See Chart) Wounds [The No. of wounds you can suffer before going unconscious. Based off :crows ] (Total = :crows times two.) Speed [How fast your character moves in combat. Based off :masks ] (Wk = :masks , Cg = 1.5Wk rounded down) DMG Mod Table Score | Modifier 0 :-fate 1 2 No Mod. 3 No Mod. 4 5 :+fate "Skills" A. Make up a skill. B. Show it to your GM. C. GM decides if it's a broad or limited skill, and which suit it would go under. D. Buy ranks in the skill. For each rank, you get to any flips to do with that skill. A broad skill covers several different things, Ex: Thievery. A limited skill covers fewer things, Ex: Lock-picking. It costs 3 soulstones per rank for a broad skill, and 2 soulstones per rank for a limited. Both of these examples would be :masks skills, because they relate to Deception and stealth. If you get the right suit for a skill ( :masks in the example.) the total gets a +2 bonus, even if you don't have any ranks in the skill. Skill Difficulty Weak (1-5) Ex. Hopping over a low fence while jogging. Moderate (6-10) Ex. Climbing over a five foot wall. Severe (11+) Ex. Climbing to the top of a two story building. Situational Penalties Distracted It's hard to pick a lock in the middle of a gunfight Injured Or when there's a knife stuck in you. Terrain Or when it's raining. Incredible Difficulty Or while you're standing on one foot. These stack, and each is worth Flipping a Joker in a skill test is equivalent to either an amazing success (Red) or a spectacular failure (Black.) That's all I have so far. Spells and triggers have proved an incredible challenge to theorize, and I haven't play tested this system at all yet. I look forward to hearing everybody's thoughts.
  10. Do we really need a new faction this early on in the game though? Also, to ProdigalPunk, the Outcasts have the double-suit thing already. Vikky is :rams and :masks, and Levi is :crows and :tomes.
  11. Leveticus can't hire any models which are not soulless, constructs, or undead. It's under his "Pariah" Ability. A bummer, I know, but he can hire any models that fit in at least one of those categories.
  12. Eagerly waiting for part two.
  13. I've found painting the base is one more place that chips and has to be re-done. Base more so than anything else really since that's how I usually move my dudes.
  14. Looks great! Could you let us in on a few of your secrets? How'd ya do it?
  15. Personally I relish the idea of hurling plushies at unsuspecting Malifools mid-game.
  16. I really like the idea you had, and the idea of having it told through a "campfire horror story" (if you will) is cool. I can't wait to see some more from you!
  17. +1. Leveticus is only Wk 3, he needs it.
  18. Cool models, but I may go with my initial idea to use the Twisted Apparitions instead. Time will tell.
  19. That's amazing. I'll be watching this thread...
