  1. I have not had much time to update this, and frankly had kind of forgotten about. Will see if I can do something with it in a few weeks when I have more time. However, in my previous post there is a link to the document on google docs, which should allow anybody to add to it and make changes, so please feel free to do so.

  3. We have a Saturday evening slot scheduled this week from 5 until store closing. I am using a Story Tournament (developed by nix, nilus, Keltheos, maybe a few others - Thanks guys! - from GenCon2012) and it will be fixed faction, 25ss, rounds last 1 hour and 10 minutes. I have attached the tournament document here (somebody let me know please if that is a problem), which has my contact information (or send me a PM) and lots more details.. By the way - this event is FREE! Details: Location: Dragon's Lair, located in Austin, TX (6111 Burnet Rd) Day/Time: Saturday, March 16th, 5pm-10pm No Entry Fee, Beginner's Welcome First into the Breach.pdf
  4. We have a Saturday evening slot scheduled this week from 5 until store closing where I am going to preview some new strategy formats that I will assign to you each round. Rounds will last for 1.5 hours or less. I am calling it a mini-tournament as it will have a more open format designed to encourage new (and old) players to get in as many games as possible. I have it listed as 30ss, but we can accommodate a smaller crew size for those who are new and need to play a smaller game until they build up their model pool. I am able to give a short demo during this time slot so you can jump right in and participate also. I will make pairs based on whoever shows up first, and make arrangements after that. Details: Location: Dragon's Lair, located in Austin, TX (6111 Burnet Rd) Day/Time: Saturday, February 2nd, 5pm-Midnight No Entry Fee, Beginner's Welcome
  5. We have a Saturday evening slot scheduled this week from 5 until store closing where I am going to use the Week 3 achievements as the basis for a mini-tournament, along with some new strategy formats that I will assign to you that evening. Rounds will last for 1.5 hours. Details: Location: Dragon's Lair, located in Austin, TX (6111 Burnet Rd) Day/Time: Saturday, February 2nd, 5pm-Midnight No Entry Fee, Beginner's Welcome I will still be collecting achievement totals from other games you played this week, this was just an opening on the schedule and I wanted to try something fun.
  6. @bfrench - sorry I missed your post until now - PM is probably a better way to get in touch if you have a question in case I forget to check the thread. Due to scheduling needs at the store, I was not able to get the number of weekends needed, but I do believe we have the first Saturday (evening) in February reserved, so I will post something on that soon. Also, check out the thread (and forum) at http://www.centexwar.com/warroom/showthread.php?3248-Malifaux-Dead-of-Winter-Campaign-Jan-15-Feb-24 where more of the local players frequent. Finally, I am uploading the week 1 and week 2 documents below. For each week, players should send me the total number of achievements from that week's sheet which they accomplished, but you may continue to use the prior week's sheets so that at the end, we will also take note of the player with the highest overall total. 7. I haven't been to Houston much, but did want to say hello, since you're a fellow Texan. I am in Austin and we are slowly getting a good number of regular players. I think one player said he travels to Houston occasionally - will ask him next time I see him. Also wanted to let you know about a forum for Central Texas gaming, www.centexwar.com - it is more the Austin area, but there are a few people from Houston who pop on now and then - though not any that play Malifaux that I know of yet. Feel free to send me a PM if you happen to come to the Austin area. ---------- Post added at 11:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:30 PM ---------- Also found these links - the Dead of Winter league should be a good beginner event. http://www.wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?38313-Dead-of-Winter-Asgard-Games-%28Houston-Tx%29 http://www.meetup.com/Beyond-the-Breach/
  8. Location: Dragon's Lair, located in Austin, TX (6111 Burnet Rd) Days/Time: Tuesdays, 6pm-Midnight, during regular Malifaux Weekly Gaming This is an achievement league, each week will have new achievements for you to accomplish. Very beginner friendly. I will post more details soon.
  9. I've ordered from this site a few times. Nice service and product, though he may have a bit of a backlog due to the holiday. http://www.dragonforge.com/Painting%20service/for%20sale/store%20directory/roundlip_base_sets.htm
  10. In the first few pages of the Ten Thunders book, there is a chart that gives an exact idea of who the 10T models can play with. Ten Thunders is a faction, just because Mei Feng is 10T/Arcanist, you can play her as solely 10T. So these models together count as a true 10T faction. Aside from either the mini rulebook or 1.5, I don't believe you would need Books 2 or 3 to run 10T, but you should pick up Book 4, Storm of Shadows. edit: I just reread your post. I think you may struggle with a few 10T masters if you are not willing to hire allowed models just because they do not have the 10T designation. Misaki would be your best bet in this case, though she will at least want some 10T brothers and Oiran, who are dual faction Outcast/10T..
  11. Good to know. Hope you had fun - it was great having your group come to Austin.
  12. Interesting - were other changes made in 1.5 that have not been noted in the errata? I may have to buy the new book then.
  13. As the title says, I have a table reserved for running Malifaux demos on January 5 at Dragon's Lair, 6111 Burnet Rd., in Austin, Texas from 5-9 pm. I will have a selection of crews and extra fate decks for people to use, including: Lady justice Rasputina Lucius Collodi Ophelia maybe a few others If you are interested in a specific crew, I may very well own it, just don't have it painted yet, so send me a PM if interested in something else.
  14. Nice write up - I didn't have time to concentrate on the specifics of each game, though it does seem in Round 3 most people kind of avoided the main strategy and just played keep away from the ghoul. Also, to anyone who was interested, this scenario was taken from a GenCon event, so thanks to nix, nilus, keltheos and whomever else had a hand in writing it. I think it went well, though I think if I were to run it again I would do 30ss and 90 minute rounds, especially for round 1, but we were short on time last night due to daytime gaming restrictions at the LGS so I had to keep them shorter.
  15. I believe they had said Relic Hunters would be available in January.
  16. What Alf said. Also, any changes to the model stats from book 1 should be available on the Downloads page. The mini rulebook is still the most current version of the rules and should match what is found in 1.5, though there are some errata and faq documents on the main Malifaux site you will want.
  17. Thanks - I had a few orders from Gen Con specifically so I could have MT for prize supports, so extras are always welcome. Good to see you are still around, hadn't seen you post on the forums lately. Also, good timing - DL has put a bunch of Malifaux on sale today.
  18. Yes, the more the merrier! Only other thing going on at the store that night is kids' warhammer, but the events coordinator said we get precedence, so we can take what space we need. Also, I tweaked the schedule a little bit (see below), since the store only has limited restroom facilities, so we have a 15 minute break between rounds and setup for the first encounter begins at 6pm sharp. So this will put us on schedule to finish up at 10:30 and hopefully it will only take me a few minutes to tally the final results and paint votes (still 1 hour ten minute rounds with ten minutes to set up). I will try to pair people up for the first round so that you are facing someone you don't normally play, but we will see how that pans out. For those who have not been to this store before, they have a cash vending machine for drinks and sell a few snacks in the store (chips/candy bars). There is also a 7-11 less than a block away, but the break time may not allow much room to go there. It is generally okay to eat/drink in the store, so feel free to bring a sandwich or whatever. 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM Registration, Paint Judging 6:00 PM – 6:10 PM Round 1 Setup 6:10 PM – 7:20 PM Round 1 (The Root of the Matter) 7:20 PM – 7:35 PM Break 7:35 PM – 7:45 PM Round 2 Setup 7:45 PM – 8:55 PM Round 2 (Assemble the Monster!) 8:55 PM – 9:10 PM Break 9:10 PM – 9:20 PM Round 3 Setup 9:20 PM – 10:30 PM Round 3 (It’s Out of Control!) 10:35 PM Awards – Tournament Winner, Sportsmanship, Painting
  19. Pine Sol can work also, but as Nathan said you would want to do a test piece. When stripping plastics I always try to keep checking them often as you don't want to leave them too long in a stripper bath. Also, it can make the plastics a bit soft.
  20. Absolutely - look forward to seeing you there! Let me know if you have any questions, need directions etc. Also, I wanted to add that the Hamelin changes will be in effect for anyone who plays him. I had already written something into the rules packet to avoid a few possible abuses I had concerns about with Hamelin specifically, and as it is I will still let those stand as I don't want to edit the rules packet so close to the date. Please send me a PM if you have any questions regarding this or anything else for the event.
  21. Just wanted to add that there is some confusion - the game store had posted a flyer with a start time of 7pm, but my intention is to hold registration at 5-6 and begin games promptly at 6pm. So please plan on 6pm start - if there are new people who only saw the flyer, i will try to work around it. Also, I will be available for demos all next week prior to the tournament, except Christmas day when the store is closed obviously. send me a PM if you would like to set up a time.
  22. I really like the Army Painter warpaints - and they have two sets available currently, one for about $30 and the full range set for $125. There are other great paints out there, but as far as kits go, I think these really do a great job of getting everything you would want to begin with. I know my LGS carries this line, so you may be able to get them locally also.
  23. Really nice! I would not have thought of that color scheme, but I really like it.
  24. Since it seems like this is likely to be the year of the RPG, I can't imagine getting a v2 this year (by the way, I mean Wyrd years to be like fiscal years, with GenCon being the start of a new year), though I think 2014 it might be possible. If we do get a book 5 this year, I would guess special forces, unless they surprise us and start releasing the story packs this year as had been previously indicated. I like the idea of tyrants in the fluff - but not in gameplay necessarily, though I am sure if they chose to do this, they would find a way to do it right and not throw the whole game off balance. But I really hope that we see an update for not just the rules/starts/schemes, but many of the models previously mentioned which currently don't see much use - hopefully in the next couple of years.
  25. I agree with what Sevorin said. Maybe you can try running a suboptimal crew build instead?
