Archie's Upgrades

If I play Leveticus (Outcast) and hire Archie with him, then I can't purchase any of the 3 Archie upgrades, can I? Since they are only resser upgrades. Just like his ability to purchase upgrades becomes useless, since it states it must adhere to start of game restrictions?

The restriction

A model may only have Upgrades of the Crew's declared Faction, regardless of the model's Faction.

That's the first of the five upgrade restrictions on page 72 of the big rulebook for purchasing and attaching upgrades.

So, yeah, Archie isn't going to have any qualifying Upgrade cards when played out of Faction.

That's correct. He is already a really hard to justify cost to utility model even with his upgrades for Ressers. Even with his upgrades, he doesn't even come close to Ashes and Dust though, so it isn't as if Leveticus is hurting for options. Pretty worthless for Outcasts.

I believe you can attach his upgrades during the game w/ stapled on, as they say "ignoring all restrictions" when you take the action.  

But starting the game w/o hulking leap and/or armor is going to stink.  (He's fun in-Ressers.)

Leve probably has better options though, as they say above.

No it doesn't. It says "following the usual restrictions for attaching Upgrades at the start of the game."

Yeah I noticed the restrictions there as well.

Ashes and Dust doesn't carry an ice cream with him, so that's in Archie's favour...

It could. Cut the ice cream from Archie and put it in Ashes and Dust's hand. Or just make your own from green stuff.

A&D looks way too angry to hold an ice cream, look at Archie's gentle face! 

 

If only I could decide between Resser and Outcast in the little Malmö tournament in a week... so many fun options in both.
