Iandward
I had my first game of v2 last night I didn't like the new soul stone rule where you don't add the two card together does anyone else not liking this rule ?
0 mythicFOX
It's been brought up before. I'd recommend you give it a few games to let it sink in. I found it odd at first but it really grew on me.
0 Squirrelfreak
I like it. It doesn't give your master or henchmen an air of invincibility. Everyone should have a chance to hit everyone in game.
0 Iandward
Ok will do It's only my 3rd game and 1st with v2 but I wish I found it a long time ago
0 mythicFOX
Great! Keep letting us know how you're getting along, it's always good to hear how new players are getting along with the game.
0 Iandward
What's the best size game to play I'm playing 25 so I don't have to much going on at one time
0 Cornelious1424
In M2E 50ss seems to be the standard size. It may seem like a big step from 25ss, but with upgrade cards it tends to keep the model count down to between 7-8 (on the average).
0 Stinkmunk
The book says 50ss for organized play. Personally, I enjoy 40 as my sweet spot right now as I've only played about a dozen games of M2E to this point. Cornelious is right though, a 50ss game in M2E isn't necessarily bigger than a 30-35ss game from the old game. I wrote a blog post about this just last week under Wait, I Have To Pay For Them? 0 Squirrelfreak
you can choose. I find 30 ss a bit too small. 40 SS would be better for introgames and the 50 ss is excellent for an all out bash.
0 DireTrollJake
I like it. It doesn't give your master or henchmen an air of invincibility. Everyone should have a chance to hit everyone in game. Exactly. For the most parts, more expensive models have higher base stats and survivability. They shouldn't require to be out of stones or killed by another SS user to die.
0 Fetid Strumpet
For me I agree with Guy In Suit from the last gamers lounge. The highest thing I didn't like about the additive nature was first the randomness, and second, it wasn't , per say the invincible numbers, as those can still be done, it was more the invincible numbers coupled with the positive twist that would come out of it. From my experience it turned just about every game into a game of hope to burn your opponent out of stones before he can burn you out of yours, which some people liked, but I very much disliked. 0 Csonti
Yeah. Old SS system turned SS users invincible vs the rest (while stones lasted at least) and made any duel between SS users a game of who draws better. The new system brings much more predictability, a thing that I welcome warmly in a wargame. But I guess there are many others who prefer the wild nature of unpredictible luck. 0 Iandward
I've had a couple more games with the new rules and card I seem to use the soul stones so quick
0 daemonkin
Yeah they don't last long. I tend to use mine more now for drawing extra cards and damage prevention. If I have to I'll throw 1 into DF just to help get a twist on damage. D.
0 Tuttleboy
Figuring out how to get the best use of your Soulstones will be part of the fun. I like playing games around 45 stones because it really makes you think hard about taking an upgrade or 2 or that other minion. 50 is great fun though. Edit: maybe this thread should be moved to general discussion. There really isn't a rules query here.
0 daemonkin
Really liking the smaller games at the minute - 30SS, henchman led. You can bring a big guy but you are giving up the points for achieving schemes. It's a balance between beating on the enemy and going for the objective. D. 0 Iandward
When do you think it's best to use them
0 daemonkin
As I mentioned above it's crafting a control hand so getting extra cards drawn before discarding down to your hand size and on DF to prevent damage. D.
0 CrouchingMoose
Personally, if I'm giving a v2 demo, I would say either 30 or 35 stones. Its small enough to get the gist of how everything works while not overwhelming a player with things to do.
