scottb Posted August 26, 2012 Report Share Posted August 26, 2012 So I'm up against Pandora next as part of my club league. Still have to take the full Som'er box. It's 30SS and shared Claim Jump. I'm thinking of taking this list: Som'er Mosquito - 2SS Warpig - 8SS 6 bayou gremlins - 12SS Taxidermist - 6SS Total: 28SS (2SS cache) The Taxidermist will give me stuffed pigs via Som'er creating piglets (turn 1 will be Git Yer Bro, which will give me injured gremlins to use for piglets and mosquitoes in turn 2 - thought that would be easier than relying on corpse counters) which will bypass Pandora's defence and hopefully create some problems if his crew bunch near the middle. So I've gone for more gremlins to enable that whilst having some more for the factory or claiming the centre. I'll create more mosquitoes so as to get more Sooey's cast. I think for this strategy I want to be more counter attack, let him go for middle then hit him with stuffed pigs, warpig, pull my finger before running in some gremlins to claim the middle. Can Pandora summon any models so as to increase the number of models she starts with? Thoughts on the list or tactic? I thought about taking Rami but that would give lower number of gremlins and no SS cache. I think the stuffed pigs are more useful than Rami since Rami would have to be taking Wp tests to hit. walruspride Posted August 26, 2012 Report Share Posted August 26, 2012 If you take the taxidermist id see if you can get ahold of a pigapult for range and blasts. Use mosquitoes for pull my finger. Pigapult comes in handy for that last minute launch of a gremlin on claim jump. But there are others that are better with gremlins than me. Lots of low wp models is a perfect set up for pandora to just clean house. Easily. Gremlins have a lot of things that do damage without targeting individual models like pulses. Omenbringer Posted August 26, 2012 Report Share Posted August 26, 2012 The Taxidermist and Stuffed Pigs have a very good method of getting at Pandora without having to really worry about targetting her. Though it might be a bit difficult to set up Dud? is the key. The list you have up there will strugle a bit though since you are depending on the Taxidermist summoning the Stuffed Piglets in game (which he isn't the best at). I would recommend dropping the War Pig and a few Bayou Gremlins to hire a full compliment of Stuffed Piglets instead. Lead with Somer and the Bayou Grmelins, then the Taxidermist and finally the Skeeter to position the Stuffed Piglets. This should freeze most of your opponents crew in place (due to out activation) so you can position the Stuffed Piglets for the Dud? assasination run in the End Closing phase. 96p Posted August 27, 2012 Report Share Posted August 27, 2012 The most important thing: keep away from pandora with your gremlins and Som'er, kill her with your warpig, mosquitos and stuffed. Pandora is harsh, but is very rescource dependent, a Pandora without cards/few stones is a dead Pandora. Favor the Alpha Stank then and hire more skeeters. Also use the warpig as a early harassment piece but be sure he dies within range of the Taxidermist to fuel Stuffed Piglet summoning (three corpse counters will drop when he dies). You will need to pad your hand for this so dont be afraid to let a few Bayou gremlins die for more cards (just try and keep at least one alive so you'll have fodder for Get your Bro later on). scottb Posted August 31, 2012 Author Report Share Posted August 31, 2012 Som'er with mosquitoes, taxidermist and stuffed pigs did a lot of damage last night to Pandora. Wiped out her and her whole crew, winning 8-0. He was handicapped by not being able to take Teddy due to the league restrictions but so was I since I had to take warpig. Think he's only had a few games with her too so that helped. We both chose bodyguard and hold out as schemes so I ran a gremlin the full length of board which survived since he needed his models in the middle for the Claim Jump. scottb Posted August 31, 2012 Author Report Share Posted August 31, 2012 I did kill Pandora with the stuffed piglets after the bulk of the other models were removed via mosquito and stuffed piglet attacks. I think the turn she died, Som'er summoned a piglet by killing a gremlin, the taxidermist then summoned a stuffed piglet off that piglet after he moved 4 inch from that piglet towards Pandora, thus placing the stuffed piglet within a reckless move of Pandora and leaving it to explode that turn and take out Pandora. We have a club tournament on going as well, but with fixed 25SS lists throw the whole tournament. And we have one Pandora play that knows his team as his own back pocket. We have had some friendly games before about when half way throw the second turn Som’er finds him self running of the table. Sense it’s a tournament their we don’t make any changes on the lists between the games it’s not much I can do their at this point. But ill keep the pigapult and the stuffed piglets in mind, as where mention earlier. I’m looking for tips and tricks, cause I have no clue on how to beat this guy other then be aggressive and don’t give Pandora to much space to maneuver. The Alpha Stank is definately the most reliable way to deal with Pandora and the Sorrow Train. I would argue a well set up Bacon Bombing Assassination Run could do it as well (with much more flair).
