A-Zorida and Jack Daw

Zephir

Question

aZoraida has a trigger on -pins and needles- that allows he to draw cards for each wound "suffered" by defender.

Jacks -Oldest of magics- immune to wds it 'suffers'; unless they are inflicted by spells...

Can she target Jack inflicting 5 Wds, drawing 5 cards, then he discards 1 card to stay alive with Undying? Seems a bit weird since you would only need a 5 to keep casting that with her, and you could build up a Huge hand - thus making Jack a LOT harder to kill.

The relevant rules on Jack Daw are:

The Oldest of Magics: This model is immune to wounds it suffers unless they are inflicted by spells, magical weapons, or Focused Strikes.

Undying: When this model suffers one or more wounds, it is killed unless the player who hired it discards 1 Control Card or 1 Soulstone.

The damage is coming from a spell, so Jack Daw is not immune to the wounds. And in order for Undying to trigger, he needs to suffer the wounds, which is what Avatar Zoraida's trigger goes off based on.

Consume Fate [Pins and Needles]: This model draws one Card for each wound suffered by the defender.

Normally you cannot suffer more wounds than you have, but Jack Daw's got an * for wounds, so would he suffer all the wounds and then not die by discarding a card?

I'd say the model *suffers* wounds when you mark them up on your model's card. If you have a way to cancel the wounds or reduce them (like the "object" characteristic), then it probably *suffers* less wounds than was inflicted.

Actually the wording for the "Object" characteristic mentions that it reduces the "wounds suffered".

In other words, I'd assume that Jack Daw either suffers no wounds (because he discarded a card) or he dies in which case he also suffers no wounds (as he is killed by his effect, not by the wounds suffered).

I would actually read this different, specifically because of the wording used. I have highlighted the specific word below.

Consume Fate [Pins and Needles]: This model draws one Card for each wound suffered by the defender.

Normally you cannot suffer more wounds than you have, but Jack Daw's got an * for wounds, so would he suffer all the wounds and then not die by discarding a card?

specifically by the wording Jack can suffer an unlimited number of wounds but then discard a card to not die. It never says it reduces his wounds to 0 or ignores the wounds, or anything along those lines. He just discards a card to stay alive.
