I'm planning to get a Freikorps team in the future ('coz I love those models), and I'd like to do something like that: 35 SS list Von Schill 2x Freikorpmann Freikorps Librarian Freikorps Specialist Freikorps Trapper Hamelin (the minion version) Would Hamelin be an useful addition to the basic Freikorps group? Some of his abilities sound great, and the mini is kinda awesome for him. Also, I can recruit a Ht 1 model if I take him. Scurry Posted May 12, 2011 Report Share Posted May 12, 2011 unfortunately, von schills hiring rule means that the only height 1 models you can take are the student of conflict or the malifaux child. also it is worth keeping those four stones for his slow to die healing flips. Necromorph Posted May 13, 2011 Report Share Posted May 13, 2011 If you're gonna try to get a Melee merc in there you would want to KEEP the librarian and drop the basic 'korpsmen. The librarian has proven time and time again to be the biggest thorn in my opponents side. The only way you can get rid or her is to knock either her or Schill outside of his slow to die aura, which only a select few models can do and the Schill player will likely target them first (or ofc you could draw a hand with no rams when you really need it, but that's just bad luck). That pair has been the single longest lasting thing in my crews, and even games where I'm getting stomped they are ALWAYS the last 2 models on the table. As for Hamelin, I haven't tried him with my 'Korps yet, but I've been considering it. He gives them some much needed "tricks"/support to a crew that relies primarily on defensively-offensive straightforwardness. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

GTFriday13 Posted May 13, 2011 Report Share Posted May 13, 2011 I have found that when playing the korps, it is often a good idea to keep them close together. There are a few models that can still hurt them, but since they are immune to damage from blast, pulse and aura effects, you can run them in a tight group and focus down enemy models quickly. Because of this, the librarian's bonus Df spell is awesome. In addition, I like taking Misaki along, and putting the librarian nearby on turn 1-2 to help Misaki's casting flips means that I am cheating fewer cards when casting wind or fire. I like Misaki in the list b/c I use her as a flanker/objective model while my korps run around killing stuff. I haven't added Hamelin to my korps list yet, but I can definitely see the benefit of doing it. As others said he adds some tricks/magic to an otherwise mundane crew. Another option would be Jack Daw, since he brings his own shennanigans to the table. In short, I think there could be some solid viability in using Hamelin. CannonFodder Posted May 13, 2011 Report Share Posted May 13, 2011 The librarian is either a waste of point or an invaluable piece depending on how you play her and against what. if you keep her near Vonschills her healing flips get mean, and I once her her slow to die/healing flip about 12 times in a game as killjoy charged her. I've tried using her as a healer to get out other hard to kill 1 wd, but I find it is not that reliable, too easy for an additional attack to get kill the target she wants to heal. Against Ramos, blocked connection makes him useless. even with red jokers he can't cast half his spells. Against casters that need 2x suits to cast spells she can cripple key pieces of armies. or against models that have an auto-trigger it will hamstring them. Sorry to nit-pick, but I don't think Von Schill + Hamelin can take Nix due to Von Schills hiring restrictions.... Nix doesn't have the Mercenary characteristic. Hamelin IS pretty cool with them, he really adds some tricks. Of course, after those tricks, he'll be the main target for my opponent, but still... Oooooh how I loved the look on my opponent's face when LadyJ just walked off the table after failing to resist Piper's Lure...on the first turn And a question: Can I use Von Schill's Leader action twice to activate two models after him?
