edonil
Shadowrun is one of those games where I've always been intrigued by the concept but not sure if I want to actually play it, lol. I love scifi like that, and reading about Shadowrun inspired some story writing, but the mix of fantasy elements into it seemed weird.
Absolution Black
Morning (again) Just checked my gencon tracking and it is in the UK somewhere! The last notification was 16th August saying it had departed London en route to the destination. I await it soon. And without customs duty please. I love scifi like that, and reading about Shadowrun inspired some story writing, but the mix of fantasy elements into it seemed weird. It's actually pretty cool. I always wonder why that genre mix isn't more prevalent. Playing a cybered up troll who is more hardy than his bullet proof van is kinda fun. The rule set is a lot less cool in my opinion. Very restrictive, very detailed, way too much going on. But alas, as long as I get to play, I'm happy.
Phototoxin
I loved shadowrun but I think it's held back by a highly intense chargen system.

Be prepared for the 100 pound custom hit I think because it's hard to do well.. Sometimes you don't ask what to play. You just play

PraetorDragoon
Apparently, they hide a pickle in the christmas tree. And claim that it's a German tradition. Right. The german tradition would either to hide Beer or a Bradwurst in it
Dirial
Right. The german tradition would either to hide Beer or a Bradwurst in it Bratwurst. And why would we hide our beer? I could understand if the Americans did that. Out of shame.

edonil
Depends on the Americans. I guarantee you some Bible thumping redneck replaced his Christmas tree with a tree shaped pile of beer cans at some point. And speaking as an American, my reaction to that "tradition" is "What the fething hell?" o.O

Absolution Black
why hide a pickle? I mean, sweets, presents, even fruit to an extent...but a pickle? Its not as if its everyones favourite food. And it seems much too random for something the Germans would do!
PraetorDragoon
Maybe the point of hiding the pickle is to not eat it during Christmas dinner?

Dirial
Hmm, this Christmas Pickle thing seems to be one of American's Original Traditions Like the fortune cookie, that definitely doesn't originate in China. While researching the pickle, I discovered this lengthy list about Germans: http://www.livhambrett.com/everything-i-know-about-germany-germans/what-i-know-about-germans/ It is quite accurate.

Dirial
I feel like I should emigrate to Germany. Hm? Why? I just posted the list because I find it really funny to laugh at myself. Not all of those points describe me, but a lot do.
