wij zongen eens zo mooi.

Was eerst het ijs maar in de dooi,

wij zongen eens zo mooi.

That's pretty dark , I remember one about the World being Deep Fried Fish?

Dirial, I am not sure but they may have stopped bleeping out the swearwords in later series..i can't quite remember..

It would seem strange if not as I am sure the later series were broadcast after nine o clock.  And being fair, a LOT of panel shows broadcast after nine o' clock in this country are now full of uncensored swearing!!

How are you watching it?  It wouldn't have to be censored because it is streaming over the internet in easy reach of kids, would it?  just an idea...

world being deep fried fish?

I don't know that one. one I know about fish is the following.

Tien kleine visjes

Die zwommen naar de zee

Moeder zei:

Maar ik ga niet mee

Ik blijf lekker in die oude boeren sloot

Want in de zee zwemmen haaien

En die bijten je

blub, blub, blub, blub,blub

blub, blub, blub, blub, blub

blub, blub, blub, blub, blub

Then count down till there are no more little fish.

Ten small fish
Swam out to sea
Mother said:
But I'm not going
I remain closed well in those old farmers ditch
Because sharks swimming in the sea
And that bite you
blub, blub, blub, blub, blub
blub, blub, blub, blub, blub
blub, blub, blub, blub, blub

(Yes, children songs/rhymes can be ver dark often.)

world being deep fried fish?

I can't remember the rhyme but it was something along the lines of:

If all the world were deep fried fish

and all the tree's were sausages

puddles being made of shoe polish

and some teachers scratching their ears

Let me guess: You are the God of Filth, and you just award gifts on yourself.

God of Flith, What she Said jokes, and sharp dresses.

I can't remember the rhyme but it was something along the lines of:

If all the world were deep fried fish

and all the tree's were sausages

puddles being made of shoe polish

and some teachers scratching their ears

Sounds strangely familliar, but I can't really recall it.

I have been way too social lately. Everyday I've been there and here and everyday I have had somethings planned and something I've had to do. I just want an antisocial day of sitting alone all day and watch movies / paint but no such day in sight. :P

That's sounds like a very serious issue, Z.

Is this even possible?

Was probably the multiple Amstels while learning it for me that makes it difficult to recall

that sounds like a serious memory issue :P

I thought the whole point of nursery rhymes/Fairy stories etc was that they were SUPPOSED to be dark, twisted and nasty..to scare the children into behaving?

I mean, even a nice cheery little song that doesn't seem nasty on the surface like "Ring O Roses"  is all about the Black death!!

Oh and Dirial, if you aren't signing in to view them on youtube, that could be why...I may need to try and watch one from the archives later!  they repeat them all the time on our Tv (on the more obscure channels!)

Good old Dave
