CannonFodder
anyone play Mercs, there are some people who are startig it in our LGS. Considering each faction only has like 8 models, its a low investment game. As for inifinity, I got a starter and played I think 2 games with it and because of distribution problems (not sure if store or distributor) no one else got in. But I'm not a fan of being able to give 1 models 10 actions for you turn. Car wars... I played that for a long time, I sill have all my stuff. I just can't get rid of it. I think I still have print outs from my old commodore 64 in that box. FYI: Why is it in every Sci-fi miniature game everyone has sword? I can understand a knife as a back up weapon, but who takes a sword (vibro, lazer, or whatever) to a gun fight.

I'd say, because: -for the most part, game designers haven't figured out a good system for making ranged combat balanced with melee (to provide tactical options), that doesn't involve some people liking melee -swords are identifiable -Star Wars -many pulp Sci-fi settings are, in essence fantasy, except "magic-->tech" + "swords-->'tech' swords + lasers" -few things read "martial tradition" like a sword. It's not like an axe or knife or hammer (potentially improvised from something productive).
dgraz
A lot of the 2-hour games seem pretty fun. there is also Blasters and Bulkheads I've been looking at recently - its a goal system type game.

Dustcrusher
Sounds like you should dig up an ancient copy of 1st edition Warzone. I know this was typed ages ago, but it made me smile all the same. anyone play Mercs, there are some people who are startig it in our LGS. Considering each faction only has like 8 models, its a low investment game. Last I checked it was 6. I like that you can currently purchase an entire freaking faction and everything you need to play it for $65 US- much like Malifaux, it only costs a bit more than a brand-new video game to get started. I will likely wait until the Texico faction comes out. Mixing Aztec and cowboy inspired designs in the same faction? That has to be worth a look Necromunda is still one of my all time favorite games- look up and download the v2 Skill Charts to bring the Van Saar and Delaque in line with the other gangs, but otherwise it works as-is. Right now, every army in MERCS has 6, FCC has 7. with 8 promised... it's a solid game, no need for pre-measuring (range is "X cards" or "LOS") but since it's basically 1AP for each model (move, or shoot. doing both requires weapons with special rules) the game rolls a little on the slow side at first. there's a lot of jockeying for position, then usually a pretty quick snap and one side is crippled... which lets the game play in a short time frame... locals here have referred to it as "Infinity Light" ... Right now, it's in my top 5 because of the size of the games (5 models max) and the ultra-simplified rules... (The others being, in no particular order: Savage Skirmish, Malifaux, Flames of War, and Infinity) Suddenly I get the feeling we've had this discussion before... I was told the FCC uses the same model for 2 different specialists, and that the Saboteur made 6 distinct minis. Makes sense that there are rules that don't have figs yet. (you end up buying 3 housemembers and an expansion pack to build all 3 models... the models do end up kinda distinct (different heads/guns/backpacks/legs for the most part) Sadly, this was my biggest complaint about FCC... as for Deja Vu... it's because every minis forums has people who post and ask about other games (there was a similar discussion on the Infinity forums at the beginning of the year...) LonelyPath
Try In The Emperor's Name. it is written by a friend of mine and is a great skirmish level 40k game and you do not have to use 40k models for it (unless you use Marines, obviously). Just make sure the rules you download feature all of the individual points costs or it is a nightmare to add up the cost of your band though. Another I recommend is Collateral Damage, but that has been taken down whilst undergoing some more playtesting after myself and my Friday night group broke a few units, lol. Vlad the Mad
I play Infinity and can only echo the sentiments here that it is a great game that is fairly different from mostvother games out there. I've noticed that whether you like the miniatures or not depends a lot on your taste, but the quality of the sculpts is superb, especially the more recent ones. Another game I've been wanting to try is Eden from Taban Miniatures. The rules (downloadable for free) sound fairly good, and I love some of those crazy models - it has something of a Malifaux touch in a sci-fi post-apocalyptic setting.
