emiba
I'm currently trying to build up a Malifaux scene in the area and I have 2 games booked for this Thursday. (Me and an opponent I played a 25ss game against before and two people I gave a demo game last week.) The idea is that both games should run at the same time next to each other with models from my collections. So I need to build 4 25 ss crews with the models I have and I'd love your help building crews that would work for this purpose. What I have: Resurrectionists: Seamus box (Sybelle possible leader) Nicodem box (Mortimer possible leader) Datsue Ba & Seishin (Datsue Ba possible leader) Dead Doxies Bete Noire The Hanged Mindless Zombies Yin Carrion Emissary Neverborn: Lilith box (Barbaros possible leader) Titania box (Aeslin possible leader) Jacob Lynch box (Hungering Darkness possible leader) Mr Graves Mysterious Effigy Doppleganger Primordial Magic So here's what I'm thinking so far: Resurrectionsts 1: (1) Sybelle (2) Bete Noire (3) Punk Zombie (4) Rotten Belle (5) Rotten Belle Resurrectionsits 2: (1) Datsue Ba - Spirit Whispers - Spirit Beacon (2) Punk Zombie (3) Dead Doxy (4) Rotten Belle (5) Nurse (proxied by Orderly from starter set) Neverborn 1: (1) Aeslin (2) Doppleganger (3) The Thorn (4) The Tooth (5) Terror Tot Neverborn 2: (1) Barbaros (2) Mr Graves (3) The Illuminated (4) Terror Tot (5) Mysterious Effigy Alt. Neverborn 2: (1() Hungering Darkness - potentially a 1ss upgrade? (2) Mr Graves or The Illuminated (3) The Illuminated (4) Terror Tot (5) Mysterious Effigy I'd like your input on if you see any problems with the lists or how they'd play against each other. Feel free to make other suggestions from the models I have. Any input is highly appreciated.
Ludvig
I'm sure they'll play well together but there are many different statlines in each list so be prepared for long games.
emiba
That's a very interesting aspect that I hadn't considered. I just wanted to showcase different models but maybe it's better to keep it a little simpler?
Nikodemus
What he said. One of the more time consuming things when I got started was asking myself "so what does THIS guy do?". Getting models in duplicate or even triplicate cuts down on that a lot.
Ludvig
My demo crews always have three statlines maximum but I have the luxury of a bigger model pool. Hench leader, enforcer or high-cost minion and two-three identical minions.
Palooka
3 models a side is plenty for a demo. I'd go Mr. Graves and 2 Illuminated taking on Sybelle with 2 Belles. Give Sybelle Bleeder Lash to give a bit of threat to the demo - but make it more about the mechanics than a full schemes and strat kinda demo - I feel like a good starter demo shouldn't take more than 30 minutes to give people a taste, then you can move onto Henchman Hardcore and the like. emiba
I should maybe clarify. All parties have already had a first encounter with the game. A 25 ss game in one case and starter set encounters in the rest. So it's maybe more a question of a first game of their own for players who played demo games last week than a straight up demo game itself. But it's very good input still and I'll definitely try to limit the number of statlines.
YourGitFacedCousin
The starter set makes for a wonderful demo in my experience. Just a little taste of everything, keeps it quick and simple.
Ludvig
I try to keep multiples of models in later games as well. Too many new statlines still drag the game out for me after playing for years. I could see why players might want a little different stuff to try though.
