Hoffman and The Mechanical Rider

So I've been getting some table time with the Hoff recently! I'm at the point, where I'm trying to think of awesome combo's with M & SU models.

What's your thoughts of taking the Mechanical Rider with Hoffman?

Nevermind, there's plenty of other toys to look at. Whats your thought's on the Large Arachnid?

My Arcanist Asset priority would be something like:

1) Toolkit and Joss,

2) Metal Gamin and Howard,

 

 

5) Steam Arachnids

 

 

 

10) Rest.

I've heard others positively cream themselves over how the Rail Golem performs under Charles Xavier Hoffman.

Everyone seems to consider the Large Arachnid last when talking about M&SU Constructs though, maybe it's just the least exciting option, theoretically speaking.

Large Arachnid does have an interesting action in Temporary Limb and Hoffman can copy it. He can hit pretty hard if he does. That's pretty much the only really interesting thing Large Arachnid can do for Hoffman, though.

Looking at your guys comments! At gonna hold of on the large arachnid, but I have picked up the Swarm. So looking forward to play testing them out.

The Large Arachnid is on my very short list of things I want because I want to paint one, but I will be enjoying the 'cheaper than a peacekeeper' marker removal and occasional positive flip buff. Not sure what I'll do with the second one after painting Model 101, though.

I`m not ignoring it. I just think Guild doesn`t have reliable ways of putting burning and there`s peacekeeper and ryle in the beater departmen.

I have found the running out of burning was never an issue as in melee the problems are the tomes. 

   If you save up a few tomes he wrecks faces!  I want to try him with debt to the guild

I'd rather use just one mid-tome to apply targeting systems (and another modification) and not care about the suits after that, or use the swarm which brings its own tomes. There's always something else begging for a handful of tomes. Or any suit but crows, honestly. There's something intriguing about a crow trigger and wave 4 but I can't remember what; point is, I don't have it, and it won't be a construct.

Not forgetting the Effigy as a beat stick!! Think it's my new favourite model.

I find the Emissary a better beatstick than the Effigy, but to each his own, I guess.

Absolutely! Who can resist a little puppet that politely tips its hat?

If only Hoffman got access to Mech Rider and Lazarus.
 

That said, I don't think it would do much to compensate for his crippling weakness to forced movement.
