Freikorps in Nythera

SPOILERS from the Penny Dreadful Nythera book. Go away NOW before bad things happen to you!!!!

So we know that Titania emerges from the aftermath of Nythera. However, as I was reading the book, there is a possibility that Von Schill dies and Hannah replaces him as the leader of the Freikorps. I wonder how such event will affect the storyline of Malifaux. Does it mean Von Schill may be "rotating out" as there are more masters incoming?

It's a possible ending to the campaign, but i doubt it's the "Canon" ending. As far as i can tell the canon ending involves Titania being freed and Von Schill surviving.

In any case i don't believe Wyrd would make any Master obsolete from a gaming perspective. Having a few die in the fluff yet remain game-legal would be an interesting (and brave!) move, but there'd be riots in the streets if they outright erased masters from the game. :)

I know that Malifaux is not gonna be like a certain fantasy wargame where they killed off the entire cast, blew up the whole world and started anew. However, this does concern me. Earlier there was a discussion about masters rotating out as new ones moving in, in order to keep the balance. If they reveal the Book 4 master for Outcast to be Hannah, then I'll go punch a puppy.

Well you can see what the Wave 4 master silhouettes are and none of them are Hannah. In all likelihood the Outcast master is the gunslinger/cowboy hat model, and you'll see them maybe next week or the week after. I don't think I've seen anywhere discussion by Wyrd about rotating Masters. It likely wouldn't be a good idea because they want to keep selling the kits considering the cost of the plastic moulds.

I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Also the previous 2 times non master got promoted to master status, it didn't invalidate the non master model (Talking Hamlin and Misaki in first edition, as opposed to the edition change) as a valid pick. You just couldn't field multiple copies, so no Minion Misaki in crews lead by master Misaki.

Werent Lucius and Molly henchmen in 1st edition?

There were 6 henchmen in first edition (lucius, Molly, Kaeris, Collodi, Von Schill and Ophelia), who all became masters in second edition, along with 2 other models (Wong and Jack Daw). But I wasn't counting them, as the rules changed and so you couldn't use 1st ed rules and 2nd ed rules at the same time.
