So,

with Easter Sale closing, I have a Witchling Handler (Alt) and Miss Terious coming up. How to go with Criid in a budget and theme?

Personally I wanted to go with Kaeris, but a new player is really itching to start with her (though he voiced interest in Criid) I forgo Kaeris (first, I can always return) and want to go with Criid (also somehow giving him an excuse to rent out Criid and get more involved).

Currently our Group is playing in theme (mostly new players) and we don't do the dirty things... yet

So, please gimme advice on how to do Criid on a budget and what does what, and where would the budget version not be worth taking. With also playing 10 Thunders side, there will be eventually a Lucas McCabe box down the hatch... but yeah, that is saved for a later day

(Now here is to hope that Sonnia doesn't get the nightmare crew treatment >.>)

I've only played Sonnia Criid about 5 times with a combination of box sets(Lucius and Hoffman stuff). But if you just want to have a budgeted list that can fair slightly better here is my compiled list for you with minimum number of purchases:

Guild - 50ss Crew

Sonnia -- 6SS Cache
+Counterspell Aura - 1ss
+Reincarnation - 1ss
+Cherufe's Imprint - 1ss

• Purfying Flame - 3ss
• Brutal Emissary - 10ss
  +Conflux Of Incineration - 0ss
• Samael Hopkins - 9ss
  +Witch Hunt - 2ss
• Witchling Handler - 8ss
  +Disrupt Magic - 2ss
• Witchling Stalker - 5ss
• Witchling Stalker - 5ss

 

Sonnia, Purifying Flame, Hopkins, and the Stalkers are all in the Box Set. You own the Witchling Handler.

The only purchase you would need to do is make a Brutal Emissary Proxy, unless you own/purchase Sonnia's Avatar.

The list itself has two summoning models; Sonnia and Handler. And the list also gives out a lot of burning while still being within theme. Its definitely not the best list as Samael Hopkins is very fragile for a 9ss model and a few of the upgrades are probably not useful, but it could be a good start.

Here are a list of alternatives for similar SS cost 12 to 8. Executioner is a good replacement for Brutal Emissary and is probably the cheapest high SS model as the rest are close to $35 or are in box sets.

Thanks for the exhaustive list. Currently I thought to even add the Lady J set + Exorcists. But I also can see a peacekeeper in the future (with having a Rail Golem) and go Hoffmann. I guess I have to spend an evening in PMF and see where it takes me

On the other Hand with having 10 Thunders already in the mix, I can go Lucas ... damn you Wyrd for making my options hard >.>

The most cost efficient (money) additions would be Hoffman box or Perdita box. With Perdita box you could do downright nasty lists.

I am aware that I have a chronic and terminal priaprism for Freikorps specialist, but he is gold with Sonnia. The only way to get him at the moment, however, is to buy the whole von schill box or hunt down the metal, so perhaps he isn't money efficient. I've explained on his PMF article how he rocks so hard with sonnia. I've even painted mine in my guild colors.

I would agree with picking up the dita box. Francisco is made out of awesome. Papa is Sonnia's best friend in the world. Santiago a nice piece by himself who becomes ludicrous with a slight nudge from any support piece, and Nino... is also there.

With Perdita's box you could do something like this.

Francisco provides Sonnia mobility and protection. He can give her +2Df +2Wp and use Hermanos De Armas to push her into base contact with himself. He can also easily get Sonnia out of melee or kill something that wanders nearby.

Papa Loco gives Sonnia hold this for to damage and is buried by the Death Marshal. The Marshal can then proceed to complete some schemes or run in the middle of opponent's crew and let Papa out.

With Hoffman's box you could go with a list like this. It has relatively many models, none of which are free kills, which makes it pretty good for interference or reconnoitter. Hunters can slow down enemy models and drag them closer for Witchling Stalkers to charge them. Watcher can provide Sonnia LoS, remove cover or just run around completing schemes.

Both these lists could also greatly benefit from Brutal Effigy and/or Austringers, but they aren't strictly necessary or anything.

Peacekeeper can be played with Sonnia, but adding just him to her crewbox will leave you with a list with only Wk 4 models and no mobility tricks. That will be a problem with many strategies and schemes. Even Witchling Handler won't be enough to save the day in my opinion.

Don't know where I deserve hostility for thinking about playing a minion that Wyrd sanctioned. Thanks... I guess. Good that you considered that me buying this stuff leaves less money for other stuff. Also all my Gremlins are Yellowskinned. [Official] pictures of them are mostly green, because of the... moist they are oozing. Call it sweating.

I knew I should've put a smiley face on that. Just because the Malifaux Child has a permanent face for greenskins (or yellowskins) doesn't mean I don't like you. Or Sparks. I will be absolutely delighted to see a Sparks on the opposite side of the table...

Range of Hoffman's On Sight Assimilation upgrade action: 8.

Range of Sparks' Hostile Work Environment passive aura: 8.

Range of Sparks' Hostile Work Environment passive aura AFTER Guild's general upgrade Dampening Field is applied: -.

(Alternately I could just hide Hoffman from LoS of the aura while still within 8 inches, and then use a watcher or mechanical attendant to gain LoS for O.S.A.)

Suddenly anything that Sparks puts metal plating on becomes a target for Hoffman to steal abilities from. Because why should I limit myself to just playing with the toys on my own side?
