Yeah against obey masters it seems to be a no go learned a thing oday I always had fun bringing him to the table, he had some star tagteam moments with model 9 where they ate some backline pretty fast. Otherwise it's the distraction Carnifex for your opponent to worry about while you bring cooper into position (and he can nudge cooper into position). You can actually make him impossible to wound with ullrs aura and if you stack the Emissary on top it can get pretty wild. By then nobody is protecting cooper anymore so it only works against less mobile keywords. I feel like in both keywords, if pressured, i would take the emissary for both Keywords , or the hooded Rider instead of the Malisaurus, because they provide better tanking capabilities / Mobility ---> if i had to make a competitive choice. Which i don't so i just bring the dinosaur most of the time
  2. It can be durable if your opponent has no ruthless/crappy handcards/badluck ---> i just feel unless you want DINOSAUR you have better options in the 10 SS Beater/Tank Slot. Interpretation is what it is though ---> It might also be down to me being no native english speaker. or not thinking hard enough about the text of the cards most of the time, but it is always very enlightening to watch other people play malifaux (for example world Series) or talk with them about rules. i always find things that i would have never read that way while everyone else goes "yeah totally obvious"
  3. If the whole world agrees, i'll conform. I get what you are saying, and thus amend what i said to: The RAW could get some love then next time explorers cards are touched, because :A lot of people seem to think that it's not the greatest model for its points but agree to interpret that passage in the worst possible way for the model. Because against some crews , this transforms it into a piece of terrain unless you have initiative ... which doesn't strike me as intentional.

  7. Most of the time you want to stick him into the fray first thing to bog down your opponent the territorial trigger. Fine if it works. Even better if you can get some value out of the Crow Aura from wild hunt (which is more useful to guarantee into thorns with Titania than anything else) The Melee Attack is mandatory for the Cost of the Model, so nothing special there to be honest. But: He dies seriously fast. He is Height 4 so everything with a gun can and will fire at him and the defense is so poor they almost always hit (i once shot him down with an operative who got lucky on the dmg flips). His only defense is Terrifying and both his crews do nothing to support him there Anything that has min 3 or (god forbid) ruthless (or both) will kill him very very fast and there go all your stones. +++ Looks awesome on the Table, which is the reason i field him. Works good in friendly games. If your opponent seriously knows what he's doing you can get more worth out of the emissary for the same points in both Crews to be honest +++
  8. Hm i think i'll put it to the test at the weekend, just play Maxine 2 sit her next to the emissary and see what is what, all this theorizing just makes me realise that i haven't played malifaux for 7 days already
  9. McMourning, YanLo, Anya, Jedza, VonSchill, ShenLong But if i understand you correctly the issue you have is that it is a passive heal and that it stacks with the Emissaries aura?
  10. I don't think there are any other balance issues than with Maxine 1. I'm having a lot of sucess with the crew, but our Meta is very non-competitive, so i can't say if it's really the Keywords credit. I feel like every decent Condition orientated crew is gonna crush EVS because apart from hopeful Prospects i can do pretty much nothing once the slow distracted injured poison whatever is going strong. Maxine 2 is even more Vulnerable because she can't counter conditions by applying the opposite condition.
  11. Nice. Nobody remembered that sentence I guess it needs a tome to cause the healing because it wouldn't fit in with the whole crew mechanic otherwise. Tht interpretation would solve it balance wise. it's a maximum of 6 health healed per round. Spending 3 Tomes from your hand to do so And the thing with Beebe and the cryptologist: Yeah can be done, but that's so much effort just to keep doing that, it can't be efficient.
  12. I always feel like pulling moderate with Kiya is kind of a undesirable outcome. She requires such a lot of setup most of the time that you need to hit the severe. But thats my opinion. I found hard to wound stuffs a lot of the potential of this crew which i feel is allright because otherwise it would be steamrolling everything else. I feel like Breachburnt needs clarification wether all discarded Cards or only all cards matching a reconfigure ability (which would be my read) How many Tomes does she usually have? How often can the emissary realistically take the hit after that before the whole evs Crew is top decking? i'm not saying it's not good but i can't see it being a problem without having put it on the table, which i can try next weekend. The thing that Harata and Orville can make the whole crew more or less invincible to shooting attacks is nothing new ---> i always feel that it's good 1st turn but then it get super hard to maintain because it is a 2 inch bubble in which every member must be within 4 inches of Harata. And i need those AP spread further apart usually. But that trick can fall apart with initiative lost rather fast. I mean.... just kill orville?
  13. Pride kind of ties in well with the card discard/hand pressure style of the old Daw. I Think it's matchup dependent, but against some crews a super buffed up August might be good. On the other hand i'll just hit him over the head with min 2 until he has no distracted anymore and then he dies. and then you have 4 activations of Pride I actually played a lot of daw without any hanged, might be a mistake but did work too, if differently so. Maybe depends how much pressure your opponent puts on. On the other hand if i can place jack daw or a hanged in an uncomfortable spot for my Opponent it's maybe worth the Stone
  14. Yeah i think he is impossible to really tie down. Masks... but most models can stone for masks that really need them (mostly on your heels and the new burst of speed , Hanged, JackDaw) and he brings good Draw Mechanics with his ranged Attack. Otherwise it's mostly stagger trigger which is nice to have but can be guaranteed by ranged attacks of montresor, Hanged and Crooked man as well as Riptide Markers from the Drowned. Otherwise You are coming with me on Jakuuna and the Mask trigger on the Crooked Mans bonus are the only ones where you would really need the mask in Hand. And before i at least have been burning stones left and right for rams and Crows on Jack, so i don't know if it's such a drag on our hands.

Hm... so not wanting to be rude because i enjoyed your posts so far and can agree with them for the majority i will express myself mildly: this is a victorias Tactica ---> which is an information that i get from the title of the thread. Last 15 minutes i have been reading 4SS Models balancing and ideas. Which is great, but to be honest is so far off the main topic by now that throwing stones at the next man seems kinda disrespectful. Viktorias are a crew that i thoroughly enjoy and have played a lot. I won most games, and won most games through board presence and AP heavy schemes and mobility. Killing ---> great stuff, LOVE to kill models. But more so: LOVE to make my opponent fear getting killed and then just drop two scheme markers which get me the point. More me. Please don't try to prescribe what a crew is and how it has to be played, it kills games in my experience and i like this one.
  16. Yeah Auguste is quite the Hero, i didn't care much for him until the game too. My Girlfriend tried him with nellie and he more or less singlehandedly killed Izamu, so there is one model that has gone up in respect. I think there is a lot of new models that you have to put on the table to see how they really work, as usual it's preemptive to just judge them by the card. hm yeah you could bring Rifleman but you would have to be sure your opponent has no irreducible damage (or keep that damage occupied otherwise) because then August goes down too fast. And depending on matchup he will climb the target priority list fast in the coming months. Problem is that the whole distracted thing doesn't tie in too well with the rest of the tormented Crew, so i guess i'll stick too having him do unobtrusive stuff round 1 and only go in round 2 at the earliest. if i can keep myself from hiring a 2nd hanged that is I think he August is super Nuts with the new Nellie Title though

I don't know the effort they put into the storyline e.g. how many people and planning and Co-Writing and reviewing and so on, so that would kind of dictate how realistic this is BUT, i feel we are getting more game changes this edition than story changes (this is a completely subjective impression). I always liked the fluff a lot and wouldn't play this game without it
  18. - I am still super unsure if we should go and Spoiler away but well, here we go - I am surprised that so many Characters get into seemingly unsolvable situations, like Misaki, Nellie and Maxine ---> and truth be told i am a bit saddened to see their sanity go on vacation. - I am happy that not everybody of the eight gets just to be a mindless follower of the burning man, i kind of feared the 9th faction "Burning Man" to appear tbh. ---> overall it's an very open scenario of brutal change with no real conclusion, so masterly you can go anywhere from here onwards I feel as if the overall setting has gotten so big one would need more regular upgrades to tell it properly. I vote for Story upgrades to go along with Gaining Grounds, cause i'm still rather hungry after this. I guess we are going to see Characters cross over to and from TOS to and from Malifaux. I hope there is some big Metaplot afoot and we see Lucius, Gretchen, Titania and all the Tyrants in an Epic conclusion before we get kicked into next edition. And i want to see Lilith back as bad as you do. And i think someone should unearth Nicodem

  22. Don't worry my Girlfriend can hit moderate on negative reliably 9 times out of 10 how did you take out a samurai with 2 ap? apart from your opponont having no severe cards. How much focus did you have?
  23. Guess it would take multiple strategy markers which require multiple models next to them to get scored or manipulated. Not that hard to do. Not sure on the math of 2/3/5 vs 1/3/5 w Rapidfire. Only 1/3/5 automatically reads focus ---> Shoot to me, which would give me an i don't care attack for a bad card afterwards It's not so bad for 4 SS provided you keep you opponent to busy to think about them. Still i guess to come back to Viks, Ronin are sooooooooooooooo good for their cost, i guess thats where the mercs lose out.

Yeah that kind of nails it although then we are talking everything up to 6 health without Armor/incorp/HTW/HTK So: what would be the solution? i think hard to kill for everyone is kinda... flavourless? I think i'd like to see the +to damage on focus dropped to be honest, because it's to much of a no brainer in so many ways. I think +1 to stat would be more interesting because it would bring the card mechanic back into the picture again. 4SS models often suffer from 1 more thing for me which is: they must be damn good for me to even consider leaving a named character i read all the stories of at home. I know, not very mechanic oriented, but am i the only one feeling that way?
