  1. Good question! Just what I heard... Where have they released the rules for upgrades? Or have they not released them yet? Would be hilarious if Tiri's crew is not required to attach the upgrade xD
  2. Small correction - I believe any crew with a witness model must take the upgrade. This is relevant for upgrades with downsides (like the Bygone keyword).
  3. I don't think Yannic is good with what we've seen so far - you only get to draw one card. Personally I'm excited to try out all the staggered synergies. Everything we've seen so far attacks movement in some way (either directly or through TNs). So I'm probably going to test Montresor in Outcasts or Damned in ES.
  4. No, it stops in the end phase. She generates it and then it is a lasting effect originating from her.
  5. The only rules for hazardous are hazardous terrain, I believe. If you weren't counting it as hazardous terrain, I don't think it'd do anything.
  6. We play it that the effect lasts the rest of the game. Same way that if you kill a false claim model, it still removes the marker at the end of turn.
  7. I think that's a tricky thing about having so many masters per faction. Obeys, stagger synergies, black blood randomly on a card or two... that all overlaps with various Neverborn masters.
  8. Well, that's a wrap! Here's a sneak peak of the maps: Big thanks to everyone who participated! This should be a really exciting update to the vassal module!! Please do be aware that the new module will be cleaning out old assets and reworking maps, so old save files (or tournament packs) will not work with the new module.
  9. This is my favourite reveal yet just because there's so much effort into the background information and correct pronounciations!
  10. Oh sorry, was against Maxine and wanted someone who could deal with calypso. He came forward to eat pillars, so joss one shot him 🤣
  11. I find Paul gets even better if there's a way he can score points when he's not producing extra attacks. Last season I used him for outflank sometimes.
  12. On the flip side, in 4e, could make sense for every crew to have a crew card like the Hive upgrade with simpler individual cards.
  13. I think there's a lot of merit to the idea that 'if you have to add an extra card to explain its rules, the model is too complicated.' Malifaux cards are already one of the most complex out of any game I've played. And while that's a positive, increasing that complexity also has some undesirable effects for game balance and new player experience.
  14. yeah, definitely feels important to get a turn ahead with the pillars, so that when they remove them you can place them again.
  15. I'm finding that this tax has a huge effect though. But yes often I'm happy with min 2 as I'm usually focused on control.
  16. She's min 3 with good setup, so she almost one-activations him with good setup. Ah I think we've found the biggest difference. I ook most of my lists xD But all good points I'll keep in mind! Still learning my way around OOKing arcanists and what they can handle.
  17. New players take a lot of recruitment and effort costs (and to some degree this is out of your control). You can release 8 starter boxes and not make your returns for years. Each new player represents years of income potentially, but they won't necessarily be flooding in. New players will come in bit by bit. You get more of a steady set of income from focusing on new players. On the flip side, with Malifaux Burns, the entire player base mobilizes and buys boxes the year of release. So you see much faster revenue (but the drop off is also quite rapid). Or such is my understanding of the finance side. I have no expertise in this industry specifically.
  18. I do feel like Wyrd spending a year making a stellar new player experience would solve a ton of problems. We would all get a chance to catch up with all the new releases, and wyrd could give a boost to their long term revenue. Cuz let's face it. New players aren't great for short term revenue, but they're pretty important to the game overall.
  19. Yeah, exactly. To me if the format is a success other than one Malifaux burns model... Then that suggests the core idea is good but the details need work. However if it ends up being a model like Rasputina that breaks the format... well then that'd be pretty damning of the format.
  20. A few people have brought up this exact point. Which is very interesting that the first model people mention that might break the format is a Malifaux Burns model... So if things like Yannic and 33 break the format, I think the solution would be pretty clear. Remove the compromise that allows them. But gotta draw a line somewhere so this trial seems like as good a place as any to start.
  21. Although you've got the timing a bit wrong. They nerf the old content after the new stuff comes out with the current cycle, so there's no point in time where everything has had a chance to be balanced.
  22. Another option is to just try to do widespread buffing to try to get old content on the same level as new content 🤣 That wouldn't necessarily be that difficult, but would take a bit of a rethink of how they approach errata which up til now has been primarily nerfs.
  23. It certainly would be interesting to have a BrokenFaux format - all errata is optional 😂 Although I am getting a hyperbole vibe from the post, since it seems more a criticism of the new releases than the old errata. In that vein, following the current pattern we are going to see Malifaux Burns content errata-ed without touching Madness in 2023, so that effectively will mean that 'nothing is allowed to be broken but new content.' Balancing errata will also have the unfortunate effect of widening the gap between the top masters and everything else, assuming Madness has the top masters (although certainly Damian seems to indicate that's already the case...) So I'm not really sure what they can do with the next errata cycle if the Madness stuff is immune. I'm hoping they at least lightly address the Madness material, such as removing the prioritize trigger on the Soulstone Gamin or swapping Surge for Bloody Fate on Miya.
  24. I do think that Wyrd would like everything to be well balanced, but it isn't a priority. What is a priority is releasing tons of new and interesting models, which has a side effect of very fast power creep. We'll have to see how Madness of Malifaux goes, but the previous two expansions both broke the game pretty significantly (although at least Explorer's Society only broke it if you were facing Explorer's xD) And to some degree, fair enough. There's plenty of types of players, and many players prefer this pace of release. But for many of us, we'd prefer a more balanced approach to releases... Which hopefully this format will provide some great games for people. I think if this format works out, it will get really interesting when titles enter the format. And just in general the idea of experiencing all content after balancing errata seems very appealing. It's kinda like a 15 month open beta process xD
  25. Would love to hear more about that! In ressers, the main thing I can think of that is a nightmare would be Archie since he gets so many free heals, but at the same time ruthless Raspy can nearly single activation Archie with good setup. Mad dog gets the blow it to hell trigger... But mass marker removal is just something to work around I feel like. Or am I missing things?
