I think it's a great idea. Why not ponder?

Mud gamin  (and a mud golem...or would that be too bad juju? ) are a great idea.

What characteristics would they have? Immune to poison? Always have cover/give cover to friendly models I'm an aura kind of like McT and Bush Bushwhackers things?

Yes, I was thinking that Bad Juju already effectively fills the roll of a mud golem. It could serve as the bigger brother, fluff wise, of both the Mud Gamin and Waldgeists, in my opinion.

Having characteristics similar to things already in the faction could go one of two ways. One way might be good, if they synergize well, i.e. there's some decent reason for taking them both, or something that Mud Gamin were able to do well that the others didn't. But if there's not enough incentive to take Mud Gamin alongside or instead of McT or Bushwhackers, most players would (quite reasonably) say, "Well, I'll just take the models I already own and am familiar with."

I think a good idea for a mud gamin would be the ability to put out severe terrain or hazardous terrain. Maybe something like Lilith's totem creating an auras around another model. The gamin itself could just put out an auras of severe terrain while giving nearby friendlies unimpeded in another aura ( or the same aura)

How would that synergize (or compete) with Waldgeists in a Zoraida crew?

Is there any way to share ideas of model concepts with developers?
Or only way to contact is starting new topic in forum?

Well according to @Adran above, Wyrd apparently actively avoids them because it's too difficult to sort out who would be entitled to what as the creator of the idea. 🙄 I have some suggestions about how to get past that too, but I'll refrain from going into detail right here and now.

I'll edit my OP to make it more accurate given @Adran's information.

If anyone would like to discuss the fan-made idea of a Gremlin Mud Gamin, with the caveat that it is not likely to ever be officially created, please feel free.

Just to say I have seen nothing in that thread from Wyrd. Its been a long time since I've seen an "official" Wyrd answer to fan made concepts, (so long I can't find it now), but from memory it was "fell free to do this. We aren't going to look at them, because its a potential legal minefield".

So go ahead and make Fan concepts. Don't expect Wyrd to look at them, or make them  in the future.

Couldn't find a wet blanket emoji.

Well, this is a lot less fun, now. 😞

  4. There's a conversation going on in the Arcanists forum where fans are posting ideas for concepts for new models they'd like to see in future. Edit: this is just for fun, there is no expectation that fan ideas will ever be officially created by Wyrd.

When @retnab mentioned the many Gamin in TTB that haven't yet made an appearance in Malifaux, I thought it was important to share them out among the factions where appropriate to fluff.

We know from the Backdraft box that Gremlins are soon to get Whiskey Gamin. What do you think of Gremlin Mud Gamin? They sound like they'd be at home on the Bayou! Would they have the Swampfiend characteristic? What would their statline and abilities look like?

    Have fun, Gremlin aficionados!

Hey all, so I was bored at work the other day and was thinking about what we could see for more models.  We know from TTB that there's a ton of Gamin variety that aren't in the game yet (Darkness, Decay, Electric, Natural, Spirit, Terror, Infected, Light, and Water) and I came up with a few ideas for a couple of them!

Hmm. I don't think Arcanists should get all of the Gamin. With the coming Whiskey Gamin, now there's precedent for other factions having a slice of the Gamin pie too. Darkness & Terror sound like obvious Neverborn. Decay, obvious Resser. Spirit, possibly Ten Thunders or Resser with the Retainer characteristic? Infected, maybe Outcasts along with the rats and Winged Plague? Oh, and while we're at it, if all those Gamin are brought into Malifaux, I also think Gremlins should get some Mud Gamin. 😆

    Electric Gamin

    Gamin, Construct, 4ss

    Df 5, Wp 3, Wd 3, Wk 5, Cg 5, Ht 1

    Incorporeal

    Lithe

Drain Charge: At the start of this model's activation, a friendly Construct within 3" may suffer 1 damage.  If it does so, this model gains +:tome until the end of the turn.

Arcing Demise: All models within :new-Pulse:2 suffer 1 damage when this model is killed (not Sacrificed).  Then, all models within :new-Pulse:1 of models damaged by this ability suffer 1 damage, ignoring models already damaged by this ability.

    (1) Shock (Ca 4 | Rst: Wp | Rg: 1:ToS-Melee:) : Target suffers 1/2/2 damage.

    • :tome Addle: After damaging, target gains the following Condition until the end of its next Activation: "Addled: This model gains :-flip to the first duel during its Activation.  If this model would gain the Focused Condition, it removes this Condition instead."
    • :tome:tome High Voltage: After damaging, target gains the Paralyzed Condition.

    (1) Arc Lightning (Ca 5 | Rst: Df | Rg 8:ranged) : Target suffers 1/2/4 damage.

    • :tome Ride the Lightning: After succeeding, place this model in base contact with the target.

Could the Electric Gamin have some kind of synergy with the Electric Creation and/or Metal Gamin? Allowing them to have an extra activation if they're within a certain distance on a trigger, or something?

Edit: new topic made in the Gremlin faction discussion about Mud Gamin idea so as not to derail the Arcanist discussion here. 😊

  6. I'm new to Malifaux, but even hanging around the forum for only a few months has shown me how much work Aaron has put into this game and its community. I'm sad to hear that Aaron has to go elsewhere in his career but am also happy that he will get to play the games he loves just as a player again.

One thing I'd be very interested in seeing is a new Frozen Heart model, especially a cheaper Henchman.

Maybe a 5ss melee grunt? December Cultists? I'm picturing very curved and serrated long knives or sickles.

Allowing access to out of Faction Undead and Constructs is itself a hugely powerful ability, Levi has 2 limited upgrades to allow him to do that.

And Sandeep can hire the University of Transmortis models (Valedictorian and the three students) with the Academic characteristic. I suppose it would be different if this new master could hire other undead constructs as well, such as Necropunks, Flesh Construct and Rogue Necromancy. Maybe the Carrion Effigy?

On 3/29/2018 at 6:39 PM, Adran said:

The concept certainly has legs. There has been some calls for Albus Von Stuk (?) from the university of Trannsmortis to be a master, and certainly in Me2 developement he was suggested by fans to be a duel faction Resser/arcanist, and he obviously does some of the stuff you want in the stories. I would possibly suggest the upgrades only work on Undead constructs, not just a mixture of the 2, but that gives little reason for Arcanists to take them.

Unless the undead constructs that the new master (Albus?) could take in Arcanists performed some sort of roles or had benefits not otherwise already available to the faction. I'm thinking Necropunks' Leap could be useful, especially if Albus could summon them from corpse/scrap markers. If there would be a new master, there's also the possibility of a new cross-faction minion, and henchman/enforcer to synergize. After all, something else has got to go in the master's crew box! 😉

What do you guys think? Also, does Wyrd have some kind of a 'suggestion box' that I could drop this in?

I don't think Wyrd have a suggestion box.

As we know, the Movers and Shakers at Wyrd read this forum. I think by posting it in this discussion, the idea has already been effectively dropped in one of the closest things to a suggestion box, of sorts.

  8. There are amazing things that can be done these days with digital magnification devices. A portable digital magnifier could go straight over something the size of Malifaux stat cards and enlarge them while retaining clarity. Check out a site like this link to Vision Aware dot org. I suspect it's going to be simpler and more cost-effective to keep the cards themselves the same size and use something to help read them better. That way you could also use the portable magnification out in the community to read menus and product labels, etc.

  9. Unfortunately, @Franchute, this is Mulligan #1 month for me. 😞 I copped a bit of an injury at work last week. A 9 year old child hit me in the forearm with a wooden drawer and it bruised up pretty bad. Keeping my wrist still was okay, but making the movements required for painting wasn't possible. The good news is that it's almost completely healed now, so I should be fine for April.

I'm especially pleased with how the book turned out. I'm also happy with the hair color, as it is a bit different from what I usually do. I'll still clean up the face and the golden line on the cloak as I now noticed it was a bit sloppy.

The hair looks very natural and the book looks amazing! I disagree that the golden line on the cloak looks "sloppy". I think it's a great detail.

  11. Two days in to the Wyrd online shop's Easter Sale and the Alt Madame Sybelle was already out of stock before I got anywhere near it. 😉

What would everyone like to get while the limited edition miniatures are available? Fantasy lists, for which the user has no actual financial hope of acquiring, are welcome. 😆

I have 2 games with Mei Feng and not getting less excited about her now, but since I'm a fair and easy going Henchman, I don't play Arcanists, really hoping this is an Outcast or TT golem but it sounds like it's the blue. :)

If it has the Construct subtype, hopefully Leveticus will be able to take it with Pariah of Iron.

This isn't a bad idea. However, Taelor is quite slow, Wk 4 and Ch 6, with no synergies with Collodi to overcome that. In Outcasts she has upgrades to overcome that, but in Neverborn you'd need to use other tricks. That said, she offers a lot of area denial if you can push her forward with her 0 action condition active. It'd mostly be useful from turn 2, as my understanding is that turn 1 with this Nicodem build is all about hand-stacking rather than flat-out summoning.

Thanks for the input. :)Hmm, it sounds like Taelor just left to her own devices won't do a lot of good. It would have to be Taelor + some kind of movement trick, then ideally, something else in conjunction to deny the Nicodem player some of their vital cards in turn 1.
