  2. I just want to share with you some thoughts and opinions we recently had. So, currently we got into some discussions in our community and had the feeling that something was just changing in the development department at wyrd. We saw the intentions on every faction and what their strenghts, but also what their general weaknesses were. For example Arcanists got much armor, gremlins cheap models and many AP to work with but pretty weak, neverborn have many casts and evil slaughtery models, etc. The masters in that specific faction included different playstyles, the option to switch something up and play a bit different. Marcus e.g. just was an outstanding master and didn`t follow the usual rules for arcanists. And then, all of a sudden this changed in a weird fashion. Suddenly Sandeep appeared, a supporting master, that is also good hitting things, while also being able to summon minions in. He was one of the first masters you had the feeling, is capable of doing everything very well! He was hated among many and feared in tournaments. And there was confusion, where is weakneses are. Whie it just takes some time to find the weakness of a master, it was hard to find one for him. Then the new upgrades arrived with new models along. While many upgrades opened a different playstyle or made certain masters finally to their job as intended, some others just got the nuts and went crazy. Nowaydays, we were discussing if the kentauroi were changing the ressurs in a way they should not change at all. Ressers in general normally need corpsemarkers to do something very good and that is totally fine, because they did something for it or sacrificed some health. Another weakness on the other hand was mobility. Except for necropunks, ressers are slow! All of a sudden there was a model, that was summonable, and filled multiple holes in the bucket of ressers. They carry guys around, which opens up even more AP for resser, they normally have plenty of, because they got many summons. They have a HUGE charge range and attack range and the option to charge out of engagements and combine that into one minion. Was this inclusion really healthy for the game? I don`t think so, because ressers just had an insanely good minion, that filled thos gaps at once! So, we tried it out and we nearly always experienced the same over and over again. For nearly everything (except lucky Alpha and it HAD to be LUCKY!) Nicodem got the answer just around the corner. That was an interesting observation and we asked ourselves: "Is that the way it`s gonna be? Will all factions just get models that will fill the gaps in every faction?" That would be pretty boring after a while and i think would just flatten out the interesting differences between the factions. A perfect example for a master that can do alot, but not too much to be all balanced out for example is Zipp. He is fast, he is controlling, but he has no opportunity to interact and that is great! He has a very obvious disadvantage and people use that against him with succes. That is a very good way to balane things out. So, i would like to know from you guys: - Do you share our concerns to flaten out the anti-symmetric playstyle and make it kind of boring with filling the cracks each faction has? - Did you observer similar or maybe opposite things like that? - What do you think should be checked before releasing different new models? Maybe it is possible to fill a gap for a faction with new upgrades/models, but that should COST! It should costs a lot in any imaginable way, however that turns out. I am very interested in your experiences and opinions :). See you in the Bayou!
  3. i would also go with ramos. Especially with the Steamfitter you have now the option to spam spiders and heal them with regeneration on their own. It is crazy good!
  4. That is indeed a very nice add. I played Fingers in a Symbols of authority game with my gf last week and Fingers was THE MVP. He did EVERYTHING for me. Recklessly running to the opponent, picking up a flag, running back to my symbols and chatting with everyone while healing and going defensive all day long (for 2-3 turns) it was AWESOME!
  5. Hahah, jeah. Love you for that quote :D. BUt i think some Arcanists are even closer to that feeling with card draw. I just want to add: Whiskey Golem is a serious threat with Tanuki on reactivate and self-healing upgrade. Especially hitting him and his auto def trigger can cause harmful trouble when brewie follows. Be aware of that
  6. But that is only during his activation. A disengaging strike is normally not during its activation.

  8. Take a look under the section: "What we are NOT good at" Brewmaster is a versatile and in my opinion underrated master. It is not easy to set it up, because you need many models that support it, but he is worth a look. What counter the playstyle in general is exactly that kind of interception models that annoy me. I had some player throwing an izamu at me, so even disengaging strikes with swill had a straight. That complicated things by a lot. Generally spreading out is a good way. Also, obstacles like pillars are VERY annoying. Generally condition removal is very good. Lady justice for example can clear out everything with 1 ability and that destroys brewie pretty hard.
  9. Okay, i may have overreacted a bit...but right now 72 colors are coming my way in a nice vallejo box ^^. I want to paint them in the following order: - terracottas - starting easy but i have a plan for some "special effect" and symbolizing the "ancient protection" they give - Low River Monks - just because they seem pretty easy - Kamaitachi - i just like that model so much! - Master Queeg - still sticking to some humans for relatively easy painting - McCabe on horse/without horse - i am quite used to that kind of stuff. Should be okay though. - Yamaziko - now it is getting a bit more complicated, but i like the pose a lot! - Dawn serpent - this is a test for the emissary - Yasunori - now here we get into things really deep and the colorscheme i chose for him is shiny, bright and full of unicorn madness brightness! This one will have some color! - Shadow Emissary - That is a sweet ass model and i really want to paint it well! Maybe i will work on this one before Yasunori. - Genbu - oh boy...what did i do...i saw a turtle image on imgur and i will take that as inspiration...white lines, light-green highlights and a TON of details are coming up here. I hope it will be as cool as i think it would be. Package should arrive on tuesday and painting starts on wednesday :). And a question for you guys: Which upgrade would you stick on Izamu while playing him in TT?

  11. FInished assembling and priming all of the listed models :). All models in the maybe list were bought except for illuminated and guild hounds (illuminated are just well...lynchi u know and guild hounds i already own) Biw it is time to order some shiny colors for my fine models :).
  12. What i could think of is a flip. Maybe a 4+ or something. Not as a 0-Action, but as an ability. You could still use the Bayou Two Card ability to improve your chances, but there would be a chance to fail. I don`t think it is necessary, because GG18 plays very different than GG17 and reckless has not that much of an impact at the moment, but we will see.

  14. Well, my guess is the ability to give old major reactivate and carry someone around with saddle while having a nice damage spread. Having Zipp and especially Pere Ravage leads to numerous cards being cheated or being thrown away because of Zipps constant yammering. While Nicodem is card hungry with his cards in need for summoning stuff. Also, he draws a lot of cards it can still be wirth. Old Major oftentimes is seen as "ulix only and that`s it" which is a very strange perspective. Just don`t keep in mind that he comes with the ulix box and take a look at his stats and the option to use "the old pig knows the way" to give you just the little bit of extra movement to successfully Alpha the opponent. Old Major is a great model!
  15. I think it kinda depends on your playstyle. If you really want to be in control of things and you find yourself oftentimes in a spot where you can almost calculate when which of those blasts go off or maybe even focus very often, then i would recommend picking up AR for sure. If you are more the gambling player digging for those big hits and maybe even counting cards to activate raspy when your deck is running hot, i would choose DP over AR. When you really dig for a joker and maybe even cheat attacks down, just so you can`t flipp 3 cards instead of 2 i would recommend it. What i like most of this upgrade is the fact, that the possibility to really fail an important attack is close to being erased. But keep in mind: the BJ only counts for raspy to be the RJ. Every other model can still screw up. Having a BJ in hand and having this upgrade often lead me to a focused attack and a really devastating blow against my opponent. 7 dmg with double blasts isn`t something to sneeze at...well maybe afterwards, because you will definitely get a cold after the breeze ran over you :).
  16. I can totally understand your surprise, because i was almost as shocked as you, when i found out. The big thing here is 2 things: 1. You got 4 outs on the december`s fist (11, 12, 13, RJ). And you got 1 total disaster card (BJ). By taking Decembers Pawn you cancel the BJ out of the equation and add another out to your 4 possible outs. This is an increase of outs by 25%, which is HUGE! That added to the probabilities of drawing one of those cards results in about 8-10% average of getting your ice golem turn 1. 2. You will love the BJ for coming up at one of your flips, even when you flip multiple cards, it will always be the one on top. And therefore you will be guaranteed this card to be your card drawn with Steamfitters. And the probability of that case increasing its effectiveness isn`t even counted in, in the upper calculation. So jeah, Decembers pawn has a very big impact on the percentage and i wasn`t a big fan of that upgrade (because it costs 2 Stones) until i did the math. See you in the Bayou

  18. Well normally i am a pretty fast and enthuastic painter, but that leaves a lot of room for improvements. Began exactly 11 months ago with malifaux and have since painted all of the gremlin models available and half of the arcanists :D. It is fun :).
  19. I am really, really excited to paint them. It will be colorful, that`s for sure :D. But first of all, i got the mystic bases to be primed and painted ^^. It will take some time, because i want those models to be awesome and not pushed because of a tournament. So i hope you guys got some patience :D.
  20. Dont't judge me just yet! I just love the models. Still in wrap: Yamaziko, dawn serpent, izamu as genbu, low rivers, terracottas, lone swordsman and queeg. It is a huge change from playing gremlins to those gigantic figures.

  22. I just want to say that i really, really love the steam fitter and what they do. Not only can they auto trigger their defense and buff things with armor and reinforced plates, but the ability to pick a card up is just crazy good. Also, the ability to drop scheme markers without interacting is crazy when choosing inescapable trap as a scheme. In this post i just want to show you guys how much of an impact the steam fitter can have, when in need of high tomes to summon an ice golem or 3 spiders. Please take a look and i will update this post with more utility the steam fitter brings us to the game! Feel free to discuss :D. With some games under my belt with Ironsides and my new favourite Minion called Steamfitter, i wanted to get back to one of my most beloved crews and try them out with frozen servants giving raspy new spice and things to do in turn 1! In this case, it is summoning! :D. So, i tried to work things out for you all and calculate which probabilites we got to get the big guy on the table :). Raspy's probabilities: Summoning an Ice Golem: 38,5% with Arcane Reservoir: 43,6% without Arcane Reservoir but stone for cards: 48,4% with AR und Stone: 52,9% with DP: Ice Golem: 45,9% mit AR: 51,5% Stone for cards without AR: 56,7% Stone and AR: 61,4% With each Action you can do in Turn 1 to see an additional card, the Steamfitters ability allows us to use those cards, as if they were „drawn“. In my theory you just keep skipping those cards, until the right one appears. Also keep in mind, that you should only do actions, that flip a single card, because -flips bury our good cards. So in this case i also suppose we flip single cards AND we only have to flip a maximum of 1 card in our enemies turn. I will start with the highest count, which is AR + Stone for 2 more cards which is 9 cards deep: Without DP (also usable for Ramos and summoning 3 spiders): 9: 52,9% 10: 57,1% 11: 60,1% 12: 64,1% 13: 68% 14: 71,1% 15: 74% 16: 76,7% With DP: 9: 61,4% 10: 65,7% 11: 69,6% 12: 73,1% 13: 76,3% 14: 79,2% 15: 81,8% 16: 84,1% I will end this calculation here at around 16, because i don`t think there is a way to see that many cards and still have a „realistic“ scenario. This scenario can be approached via Myranda getting a blessed of december with imbued energies and maybe snowstorm casting 1 spell on his own minions just to push them and dealing no damage at all with a defense flip. If you plan to use ice pillars, the wendigo will add another card to your discard pile, but keep in mind, that decembers pawn could be one of those upgrades. Myrandas IE 4 + Snow Storm casting 1 + defense 1 + ice pillars of wendigo 1 = 13 cards (14 with Arcane Reservoir/ 15 without AR but Stone for cards / 16 with stone for cards and AR). So, in this case you can pretty clearly see what difference it can make, if you decide to pick up decembers pawn, not mentioning the anxiety you avoid knowing either joker is GREAT! So, in this case, we can be pretty sure, to have an ice golem on turn 2 at least. Given the new option of the steamfitter and the possibilities it gives you, makes it a pretty viable minion in a raspy crew and should be considered to be taken, even though it has no particular synergy with them not being gifted with a frozen heart :).
