  1. Sad to see you go, Justin. Best of luck wherever your road takes you!
  2. Hear me out, fellow fans. In honor of my birthday (yay me) I thought I'd offer up some kind of gift to you guys. I've come to accept my birthday as a time of rotten luck for myself, but I'd like for you guys to have better luck in my stead. So if you play a game of Malifaux today or any time this week until, say, Monday, how is this for a rule to spice up your game? Naturally it works best if both players agree to it and can benefit from it. 7 of Masks: If a Black Joker is flipped, the player must choose it, unless they also have a 7 of Masks flipped because of a , in which case they must discard both cards to the Discard Pile and re-flip. Apologies in advance if this rule makes no sense, I'm writing this from my car in the parking lot of a mall with a florist shop's WiFi and don't have my rulebook with me. That's what kind of day this has been. Best of luck out there, everyone!
  3. I'm confused. The Guild are authoritarian lawmakers, but they hired a biker gang?
  4. Ha! I've been waiting for more "mad scientist" Gremlins. A bit cliche, but giggling little green men are always a great way to lighten the mood.
  5. Well that's kind of unfair. Each Faction I feels has shades of gray and black, but a few individual heroes have white streaks and they can be found in most of the Factions.
  6. A surprisingly creative approach, I approve!
  7. That's a gorgeous table. I'd love to sit in on a game that uses that as its battlefield.
  8. I like the rules, the model isn't bad but somehow I feel she'd look better in white. That's just me though.
  9. I think this discussion has been handled well. I know the issue is a tense one, where opinions can clash and people can feel hostility coming from both sides. I know proper decorum requires us to speak politely, but that we're doing so at least proves that we respect one another to do so. That means something. We're here to play games. Enjoying ourselves is not about letting go of our sensitivity to others, dismissing someone base on any kind of divisive line--real or imagined--is just bad form, to put it as politely as possible. A community that includes and respects all equally is a healthy one, it's one that thrives. So let's follow that path, walk the walk and talk the talk that invites more players to play without fear of having to face some sort of archaic discrimination born out of ignorance. We all win that way.
  10. I woke up to find the link in my inbox. I was just worried I did the application wrong, and at that point I was too afraid to redo the application without asking.
  11. Hey guys, I picked up the Malifaux Starter Set over the weekend and applied for the free digital Rules Manual download, but it's been quite a few days with no word back. How long does the application process take? I picked up a physical copy so I'm not left in the dark, but I'd like to have one for my phone as well.
  12. Red Deer, Alberta. Edmonton is only about an hour or so north, but traffic is usually another hour. Plus that kind of travel means I usually plan some kind of larger shopping or activities to go with it just so I don't feel like I've gone through that much gas for a single errand, you know how it is.
  13. I'm all for it, but the closest store is about two hours away so it's the kind of thing you have to plan a trip around.
  14. Kung Fury is amazing. Here's the David Hasselhoff music video for it:
  15. I plan to make a trip to my local store in a week or two, but since it is a ways away I wanted to cover my bases. Thanks!
  16. Apologies if this is in the wrong place, but I was wondering where you guys like to buy your Malifaux models? Bonus points if you know a place a Canadian can get a decent price, even taking the current conversion rate.
  17. What would be a comprehensive list of "must-haves" for a new player?
  18. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm just hoping to get a proper list of items needed to get into Malifaux. - The Rulebook (or can we get the Rules Manual?) - Fate Decks (or can we use playing cards?) - Models (w/glue, paints, clippers, etc.) What else do I need?
  19. Hm. I wonder if composing some kind of list of specific paint shades from each brand would make for a good guide for painters?
  20. Oh yeah, my bad. I hadn't considered that as an option. Thanks for the tips!
  21. Sorry to see you go just as I was walking in the door. I'm interested in taking part in March's Iron Quill, I just had some questions about the Ingredients and how to utilize them properly. Like for instance, Characters is Red Oni/Blue Oni. I'm assuming that's referring to a character trope, not a specific pair of characters? I'm still new to Malifaux.
  22. I'm way too inexperienced to be trying my hand at airbrushing. How about best paints per cost?
  23. I was wondering what brands of paint the community prefers to use on its models. Does one brand work better than another, given the material the models are made from? Sorry in advance if this topic is posted in the wrong area, or has already been covered.
