Ok, rereading that, I can see that I may have misinterpreted "careening path through the Arcanist movement." I took it to mean he was rising through the ranks. Now rereading, I can see it may mean something different. "He's here because the Guild has the resources and knowledge to perhaps one day bring Ryle back. Or perhaps the Arcanists do. Hoffman keeps his lines of communication to Viktor Ramos open, letting Ramos think he's infiltrated the Guild while he lets the Guild think he's infiltrating the Arcanists. Hoffman knows that sooner or later these interlocking, recursive deceptions will unravel on him." "Letting Ramos think he's Infiltrated the Guild" makes me think that he's gotta be sending some sort of information back to Ramos, or else why would Ramos think that at all, as opposed to thinking Hoffman has entirely gone over to the Guild? Eh, ok. rereading those, I can see how I may have read more into it than was actually there. ...I'd love to have even that much for Brewmaster and 10T for me to misinterpret. Even a small paragraph that if misread could create a connection that isn't there (but in his case is supposed to be.) lol.

Except that's not at all how their relationship is described in the fluff. Hoffman started as an Arcanist, learned to control machines as an Arcanist, rose through the Arcanist ranks, then joined the Guild, whom he actively spies on for the Arcanists...

Right... but Hoffman's fluff specifically mentions him working for both the Guild and the Arcanists (not M&SU). So him being a Dual Faction Master makes more sense than a lot of Dual Faction Masters, which is what makes it bizarre he's not when Brewmaster is, who has exactly 0 connections in the fluff to the 10T. ...and that's all I'm looking for with Brewmaster. A mention somewhere of him training with the Fermented Monks, or meeting with Misaki, or mentioning what his connection is to either the Dragon or the Oyabun. Really, anything.

Yeah, this one continues to surprise me. Hoffman's fluff references him working with the Arcanists and everything... I'm a bit disappointed with the lack of Brewmaster / 10T Fluff. Without knowing what the connection is, I think it'll be weird playing with him alongside Samurai, Sensei Yu, etc. I doubt they'll cover it in the next expansion book, but I'm really hoping it pops up in a Chronicles sooner as opposed to later, since right now there seems to be no connection beyond "the rules say so."

Heyo. I recently picked up Brewmaster for 10T, but I'm struggling to find any fluff anywhere actually connecting him to the 10T. Not even his rulebook blurb mentions the 10T... But he IS 10T, so there's gotta be something, somewhere. I mean, we can guess a connection with the Fermented Monks, but I'm looking for something official, on paper. Anywhere. Maybe in a Chronicles?

I put in multiple orders yesterday. (Basically finished the Arcanist Faction, got a large chunk of the 10 Thunders Faction, plus a few extra beasts for Marcus), and when I checked my mail earlier today, nothing had arrived yet. Srsly. Flip the table. (Actually, I'm lying, my Translucent Red Coryphee from the February promotion arrived today. I love this company so much right now.)

You do not need more than 2 Acolytes. They're amazing when they're doing what they do, but they're also super fragile if something gets them in melee. I keep switching between using 2 Acolytes, and 1 Acolyte and 1 Silent One. I haven't decided which pairing I like better yet. As far as Ramos, if you buy the bigger box of spiders, you should have enough to do whatever you want. Personally, I made one swarm and use the rest as individuals since making the swarm really relies on if there are any schemes in the immediate area that need to be eaten. Otherwise the individual spiders are more useful in my opinion.

Awwww man. The awesome Dark Carnival terrain comes out, then no more Dark Carnival minis to go along with it. That was the whole reason I bought the terrain. Well. Poo. Edit: ... it's ok. Ebay just saved me.

In one of the stories, Mei is shown torturing some poor guy who can't pay his protection money. Like actual torture. With knives. ...and then you find out that she tortures people on a regular basis, this isn't even a one-time thing.

They're literally a crime syndicate lol. They collect protection money, run opium dens, the whole deal. According to the fluff, the 10 Thunders is just out to get as big of a piece of the pie as they can. Their leader "wants all of Malifaux at his feet." (according to the main rulebook) I'm actually more curious where you would've gotten the idea that they're good guys in any way, shape, or form. O.o

I'd still like to know if the Dark Carnival will be available. Will we not know what alt sculpts / translucents will be available until the day of the sale?

Yep. The Blessed Bunny of December and Izamu the Turtle. 10 Thunders is gonna have Spider People, Bird People, and a Turtle person. Beastmen faction!

I'd really like to know if the Dark Carnival box (and Dark Carnival Coryphees) will be available. That's the set I've been hoping to get for a couple months now.

When I was playing Nicodem, I was getting out 2 Punk Zombies a turn. Those are definitely more of a threat than 2 mechanical spiders a turn. ...actually, most Rezzers seem to outsummon poor ol' Ramos.
