  1. So I bought about 10 pieces of the Dave Graffam paper terrain in that sale, add have so far put together two of them. Have also done two of the Fat Dragon buildings from their Ravenfell Ruins set. The Fat Dragon ruins were easy as to put together, and look good. They have the option to be left semi-constructed, so as to be able to be stored flat, or to be fully glued, and I like the way they look. Easy to cut out & glue together, with incredibly clear instructions. The Dave Graffam ones, on the other hand, have been a mixed bag. The Clock Tower model was fine - fairly straight forward, and it looks good. But the Ruined Cottage has been a nightmare. And it's still not finished. It's been a real PITA to cut out - really fiddly, and there's about 6 pieces that need to be glued back-to-back with another piece and inevitably don't match perfectly, so I ended up having to go round the glued pieces on both sides, trimming away the white overspill. A lot of the pieces don't have clear attachment points, and the instructions say to just look at the illustrations of the finished model to figure out where everything is meant to go. (And there are pieces included in the kit that don't feature on the illustrations, sooo...). Anyway - hopefully it's just the interior detailing of the ruins that's made this one difficult to build. On the other hand, i mostly bought DG ruins so as to make a Quarantine Zone board, so I've got my work "cut out" for me
  2. It also helps reinforce how useful/crutchy a cover-ignoring model like McTavish can become...
  3. Sounds like some of us would benefit from the mathematics being broken down on this one. I'm not the man to do that, sadly... I'd say though, that if I had a regular model that'd been Swilled (or similar), and so was on to my Attacks, but i felt I had to attack, I'd be more tempted to make 1*Focused flip where I knew I could cheat, than 2*negative flips, where I'd suspect I'd flip a face card plus a low something, and have no choice which to take. I'd also expect that the Focused route at least bears the possibility of inducing the opponent to cheat, which the 2* case is unlikely to do. Then again, maybe in that situation it's just better to try and do 2AP worth of non-flip actions if possible, like moving & putting down Schemes...
  4. You gave me an idea there - it might be a nice little boost to both Brewmaster and the Pigapult if Brewy had an upgrade ability to turn said 'Pult into a barrel-slinging trebuchet, so as to spread that Poison around... (1) "Eating's Cheating": target friendly Pigapult gains the following Attack Action until the end of the Turn: "(1) Keg Party!!! (Sh 5 / Rst: Df / Rg: 24): Target suffers 1/2/4 Damage. This Action does not require LoS to the target and ignores Cover. All models damaged by this Attack gain the Poison +1 Condition a number of times equal to the number of in the final dual total." Any good? Or too good? It would have the potential to spray a LOT of Poison around each turn, and there's not a lot the blasted models could do to protect themselves. Then again, the Pigapult is an expensive piece, and if you're doing Keg Party with it, you're not doing Bacon Loads or Flinging, so...
  5. Thanks for the work you've done on this, @Khyodee! Very useful for figuring out when things are meant to happen. A couple more points to correct tho: 2).a). with regards to a model having no choice but to take the lowest card flipped when on a flip, this should read the same as 5).b).iii. in that a model may always choose the Red Joker, even on a flip, as long as the Black Joker is not also flipped. (Small Rule Book, pg. 18) 3).a). should include a mention of who cheats first in a tie (eg, "The model with the lower duel total (or the Defender, in the result of a tie), must choose whether or not to cheat"). (Small Rule Book, pg. 26)
  6. It won't be by me, if recent results are anything to go on Really looking forward to catching up with the Auckland crowd again!
  7. That's insane. I'm definitely going to be grabbing a few more pieces - especially some of the big, elaborate ones, like the Inventor's House. Thanks for the heads up!
  8. Somebody, somewhere, once upon a time, mentioned sand, I think. Just pour some v. dry, loose sand in the bottom of the create before sealing it shut. You'll always be able to rotate it as well. Depends entirely on the model being sealed airtight tho, so the sand doesn't escape. EDIT: or, of course, putting the sand into a tied-off plastic bag first. Yeah - that sounds like a plan! Then again, it may actually have been aquarium gravel that was recommended. But that would leave dents in the paper sides, the more they are thrown around and transported. Meh - was this of any use?
  9. @WWHSD I'm just starting down this exact same path (Dave Graffam & Fat Dragon paper terrain), for the exact same reasons (I don't have any terrain currently, and I'm cheap ), so it'd be good to hear your ongoing thoughts on this. I've just bought the Fat Dragon "Ravenfell Ruins" pack, and the Dave Graffam Models "Cobblestone Tile Kit #1", but I'll need to go down to the local print shop at some point to hard-copy them - my printer is on the fritz. I'm impressed so far though with the selection of layers available to customise the look of the buildings and tiles, and I plan to make a modular gaming board from the Cobblestone Tiles by spray-gluing them onto 1.5' * 1.5' MDF base boards. Will let you know how I go!
  10. Of course, you're right - I was really just venting my ire at the compressed amount of bad luck I've been having with it. On reflection though, my choice of targets may not have been optimal. One was a Lone Marshal, who was able to just push away during his Activation ("Trick Shooting"), and the second was a Nurse, with Df 6. As @Ludvig said, targeting an equivalent brawler is probably more helpful, as there's plenty of those that have Df 4, making the Attack flips that much easier despite what your hand looks like.
  11. Ahhh... You've got to HAVE high cards in order to save them, my friend! As it's the campaign, and my Campaign Rating has been pretty high, my last two games I've only taken 1 Soulstone. Total (ran last game with zero). It's actually worked really well for me, somehow - but it meant I never stoned for higher cards, and just had to lump it with whatever Fate provided
  12. Thanks for that post, @Myyrä - I didn't even know about "Promises" (I've never played/played against McCabe)! That should work quite well in the campaign, since I was already considering Queeg, leading to Lucius as my Master. Actually, Promises will be super-ugly within the Campaign, since all Skills, Equipment and Injuries are considered upgrades...
  13. The Peacekeeper is the first model I've used that's had Flurry, and that's just been within the confines of our current Shifting Loyalties campaign. I've used her (why not, right?) Flurry ability 4 times now, in 2 games, and just through sheer bad luck, absolutely whiffed 11 of those 12 attacks. Either I would flip the Black Joker, or my opponent would flip the Red Joker. Or, I just didn't have a high enough card to cheat over my opponent's unnaturally high flip. So my question is this: do you experienced Flurryistas reckon it's worth using this ability, or do you find Focusing for one attack to be a better prospect? I can't get around bad luck with Jokers, of course, but am I being too cagey about cheating in high cards to win the duel? (Edit: Actually, I don't think I ever really had cards high enough in hand...). The other aspect is that Flurry is 3 attacks against 1 target, and with the kind of damage the Peacekeeper can do, it doesn't make much sense for her to be just engaging weaker, low Df targets, looking to one-shot them, right?
  14. You can also buy him at Gadzooks of you want: https://www.gadzooksgaming.com/collections/guild/products/francisco-alternate-pose-black-friday-2015-the-latigo-posse-wyr20103-1
  15. What would be a good target for a Miss Laid? Back on cleaner ground, maybe there could be a female Papa (Mama?) Loco, called "Miss Ile", who's all about the rocket tech!
  16. The event says "While hiring crews, each player must hire a Mercenary model which is not a part of their Arsenal with a cost of 7 or less". Do people play this as 6ss plus the 1ss Merc tax, or 7ss printed cost? Last time, our group played it as the former, and most people just took Johan , as the selection of 6ss or less Mercs is kinda limited.
  17. He was available to all in the Easter Sale this year - same as most other Ltd Ed. models - so I'm sure he will be again next Easter: https://www.wyrd-games.net/news/2017/4/10/easter-sale-newsletter
  18. There's already an alt. Francisco.
  19. Another one here for that female Executioner from Book 4 Lucius - in full military dress uniform, like an officer (or a gentleman who has purchased his commission) of the Guild ought to be. A Guild Hound, starting to show some of these mutations that the stock has been rumoured to be suffering... Guardian. I think you could have some fun coming up with a new version. Could be a Hoffman Custom, or one that got lost in the Quarantine Zone for just a bit too long, and started changing...
  20. I do want that guy in my band. Definitely.
  21. There's already an Alt Bayou Gremlin tho, and as far as I can tell, the Alts aren't so much about which models need more differentiated sculpts - it seems to be quite a random selection process. Or rather, just whatever cool idea Wyrd have for a different take on an existing model, they fit it in somewhere. The cases in point that i have in mind: Alt. Guild Sergeant. Not a high-use model, there are already two old metals that could be used, and two existing plastics. But I love the Alt model, as she's one bad-ass looking Guild thug Alt. Bishop. There's already a metal and a plastic. I'm not aware that anyone hated the existing plastic (unlike with Lazarus, who gets a lot of stick, and is being refurbished). Alt. Bayou Gator. It's bigger than the regular ones, which is awesome, but is anyone using 4 Gators often? I don't think they see a lot of it as it is, right? Etc. Some Alts are just tweaks on existing models, or different poses of the same thing (Bayou Gator, Bayou Gremlin, Kaeris, Bishop, Katanaka Sniper, etc), while some are wholly new models, either by being reimagined, or by receiving a gender swap (Dr Dufresne, War Wabbit, Tortoise & Hare, Dr Alexei Sokolov, etc), and need to have "Counts As" on their cards. So actually, are we talking "Counts As" models here, or just alternative poses of existing models, or any and all of the above?
  22. Alt. Sow - a three-headed giant Gator!!! Or, how about a giant, mutant SKEETER?!? With either three heads, or three thoraxes. Because with three thoraxes, that equals three sets of Skeeter legs - and we Gremlinistas need to knock Yan Lo's beard from its throne of Model Most Hellish to Assemble. Imagine hearing cries instead of "By the Alt Sow's eighteen jointed legs!" Also, a giant Skeeter would be bloated and too heavy to fly, but with eighteen legs it could easily hit that 9" charge. I'm just ... I have to admit - I have no idea what a septi-segmented giant mosquito would look like (nor why it would Farrow out little Piglets...?), but I'm sure the warped minds at Wyrd can come up with something suitably Terrifying (All) 12 . Perhaps even including some separate little 30mm-based Cronenbergian skeeter larvae thingies as Alt Piglets to be used for the Farrowing Ability & the Birth Action??
  23. Alt. Slop Hauler - a wildly maniacal nutcase Gremlin with a huge tank of slop on a rickety cart behind her, and a flame thrower-style sprayer and hose in her hands. Maybe standing in that classic Al Pacino pose from Scarface - "Say hello to mah stinky lil' friend!"
  24. Alt. Pigapult - a mekked-up version, built like a rail gun with a huge barrel courtesy of Sparks' Custom Artillery Workshop. Made up from rusting metal plates, oversize rivets, and so many pieces of Bayou scrap that Gracie would linger to look at admiringly. It could have an auto-loading system at the base - maybe a crane for hauling up the Piglets - and a couple of wicked looking knives for "shaping" the ammunition, because hey - each Bacon Loaded Piglet = 3+ shots, right? Could also have old 'shine casks lying around to be used as SABOT husks for Launchin' Ht1 fools. And the propellant could be cans o' Swamp Gas (TM). Actually, this is already turning into a complete diorama...
  25. The Peacekeeper is an option - I've got one in the bag, and it'd be a great centerpiece to play with. Also has that (0) to destroy opposing Scheme markers, which could be useful. Although, Lucius apparently likes to use those for Secret Assets and Legalese. Ryle could be amazing with Retribution, especially at this early stage. Lucius can't prompt him at all tho, cause of Ryle's Breach Psychosis, which is a shame. But he could just be a free agent, I guess. Executioner's (0) Upgrade costing 2 scrip isn't so bad. But if I wanted to take any campaign equipment, he's only got the one slot, so is that (0) pretty much key to making him usable? I can't see myself always getting an opportunity to pony him upfield with the Mountie, especially once that trick has been seen once or twice
