  1. Been working on this, in my head anyway. Still not on the table. Concept is Mannequins, Merc performers, Aionus and Leveticus. Basically, I use the performers to both pull enemies towards me and to use scheme markers to give negative twists via Unmaking. Mannequins and Aionus further manipulate scheme marker related abilities. Plus, the models involved look pretty good.
  2. If looking for alternate rats, the GW skaven "giant rats" are about the same size as the malifaux ones. I bet other companies have some too. There are also older metal Malifaux Rats. I've not considered the clear base approach, so I'm really not sure which models will would best for the theme. There is a trade section on this site. http://themostexcellentandawesomeforumever-wyrd.com/forum/98-trading-forum/ Good if you have excess models.
  3. That Wiki really needs an update for levi. I've gotten some good use this this guy: http://geeksong.com/Malifaux/ I set the filters for constructs that are not masters, gremlins or totems. But yeah, long list of Constructs that Levi can take.
  4. GW's old metals aren't as thin as many of the new plastics. I agree, the new plastic Daemons (especially) are pretty annoying to work with, while the old metal daemons are amazing models. The Necrons have always had weak ankles (metal and plastic versions) and there are certainly a few others. As for transportation, are you putting the models in a case that rides in a car? Or are you putting them in case that is carried on the bus, strapped to your back, or transported via bicycle. I live in a town with amazing public transportation, but It's pretty hard on models, and model cases. I'm especially annoyed at how none of the model transport cases on the market seem to have devised a watertight option (their are many options here, just not model cases). On subject, if you look back at the old GW metals, many of those are much more in line with the style that Wyrd does (not the scale, but the style). They just were more creative and free form with their models, than GW is now. That is one of the appeals of the wyrd models, to me, is how like the old GW ones they are (often).
  5. Wasn't considering the wind one, though mostly because that one isn't out yet (as far as I know). Just thinking that Ice and Fire ones look pretty similar and it would be easy to make a single kit. The metal one is a bit different, they could all be done with the right accessories for a basic model. As for the non-posable Wyrd kits, although I agree that Wyrd kits aren't nearly as customizable as the GW ones, Wyrd is currently the only one of the two to even attempt a female kit...a sheer lack of female models in the GW universe. Just let you keep thinking this. The wyrd models are certainly more realistic in the scale which they are made (as in body parts scaling to eachother), though I'd gladly trade that for the GW style, which is designed around making limbs or weapons that are thicker, and therefore, less fragile. Now, if you only paint models. I can totally see why wyrd models would appeal to you. I am a fan of conversion, so the wyrd models are often lacking in my eyes purely due to thin and fragile sections found on most models. They look good, but are often a huge pain to alter. Wyrd models make good display pieces, but I don't feel they are designed with a reasonable amount of gaming model transportation in mind. The new plastics, especially. Many of the new GW sets also suffer from a lack of ability to easily transport the model from home, to the hobby shop, and back, without damaging your model despite reasonable precaution. As for which is better at detail, that one really depends on the model. Some of the GW models are amazing, and many are lacking. Wyrd has similar results. I do, really like the clothing that some of the wyrd models have. The hats in particular, are awesome across the entire line.
  6. They did release a set for "Males" and another set for "Females", which are great sets. Why not do a "Gamin" set? A Friekorps set would be awesome, too, especially with that friekorps suit being as an optional upgrade in shifting loyalties. Granted I come from a background with GW minis, but I really like the generic sets better than the specific ones. I really wish hannah came with a male body option too (he'd make a great inquisitor karamazov that way). I like being able to make my own incarnation of each model, and malifaux printing the sizes on the cards is an amazingly smart step towards solving issues related to unique conversions.
  7. Nix is a strong crew leader in the respect that he's durable and a solid support character. He isn't very offensive on his own and that makes him appear lacking. I have not played shifting loyalties yet. As for him with the rat focus, the main issue is that he can't have LOS blocked by rats or any in that chain. For the small crews, his blight is a loss, you just won't be able to reliably blight them enough to make good use of his blight reliant attacks. I'd focus on that hollow upgrade which grants immunity to damage from pulses, blasts, and auras. That aura he's got which downgrades damage is also very impressive/useful. Outcasts really need a long range unit with blight, like a blighted sniper.
  8. I'm still surprised that Wyrd actually made 3 different gamin models, when they all look about the same. Seems like the metal, ice, and fire gamins could easily have been a single kit.
  9. I don't either, but I figured it was racism and left it alone.
  10. But at the same time, if enough people had a question where they needed an FAQ entry, then some "idiot" which hasn't noticed the FAQ and sees an unresolved thread from 2 years ago is very reasonable to post on that thread. If you add a link to the FAQ at the end and establish that the thread is resolved, then that "idiot" is able to benefit from the thread, even if they don't post. If sticking with the resurrection analogy, dead threads need tombstones so people know when they are dead. Besides, I come from playing 40k, which is well known for their useless FAQs. I do think the FAQ for Malifaux is pretty solid, but my default will always be asking a player. Besides, you play the game with players, and the players ultimately decide if they want to use the FAQ (or any other rules). FAQs are useful to see the writers/company's intentions with a rule, but they don't force people to follow rules.
  11. I missed that too. Thanks.
  12. I've never understood the negative view on thread necromancy. Seems like if the topic is current enough where a person thinks it needs more, then it really wasn't dead after all. As for why, it's probably search engine related. Either the internal or an external one, which lists old threads in a search for new information. If you really want to stop thread necromancy, there are two easy solutions: -Mods can lock threads. -You can put a link to a more current thread on the same topic at the end of a dead thread. This is a solid option, as a person will find the old one in a search, then follow the links and be able to contribute to the current conversation.
  13. Does that metal Outcast Giant Mosquito work?
  14. So only Ht1 and Ht2 models in the entire list. Very limited ability to kill things without conditions or via attacks that the opponent provides. No heavy hitters. No defensive units. Lots of models with Insignificant or Peon. Not saying you need to change, just pointing out your weak points as I see them. I will note that one objective gains the opponent VP for slaying your most expensive non-leader in your starting crew. That would Nix, and he would be a Ht2 model, so he can't hide behind most of the models in your army - plus he's really not a model you want extra focus on. Personal suggestion would be to get a Ht3 model with at least a 9ss cost. I think it would help a lot. Lots of ours will work fine there, depending on how you want the list to function.
  15. I am rather inexperienced to the game, so I haven't written any due to that, though I plan to once I feel more credible. As for general tactics, the Outcasts are very able to draw on models from other factions, and be drawn into other faction crews, so I imagine that a tactica is more befitting Outcasts if it focuses on individual models, rather than the faction as a whole.
