  2. ok so, that seems to be a particular weakness of Colette, namely condition removal and healing. your models are pretty hard to kill until a big lucky card or something ignores your DF triggers, then you got problems that without healing, wont be going away. Hopefully before that point you've already nailed down enough points for the win but if not, I haven't seen a lot of ways to heal up a Colette crew. any suggestions?
  3. with Colette, getting her into position with Howard wouldn't be such a hard move, but the mid level masks is a problem, and the cost involved might not make it productive, was thinking she would also make a great runner killer turning her into the rattler, but meh... think the points are just a slight bit over what you'd get from it...

Malfaux raptor hits Howard and triggers turning him into a beast till the end of the game, while Myranda is around she can give him her AP (2) for two MI attacks, then chain activate him to act right after using her two AP... he also gets def if she is within 3 aura... is that correct? If so, I really wonder why I don't see this in more Colette prompt and beat down lists. Are there any big negatives to turning a beat stick into a beast (unless your facing Marcus)? is her cost not worth it?
  5. Yeah, she bought him at the beginning and he either had a defensive upgrade or was under some kind of defensive effect (don't remember which) but I think I found my own answer, when fighting red, for now on I'll always bering along an acolyte, getting rid of HtW, HtK, would have helped a lot.

  8. Read the PMF on Colette, adding in an Oxford Mage sounds pretty bad asked. Furious casting with a +to CA and three prompts... Just Wicked...
  9. Hey, so I run Ramos and am getting Colette, and with either list I'm going to be running almost all constructs. A few games ago I went up against Tara with a Student of Steel. The combo almost wiped out my whole Ramos crew by the second turn. Specifically the student's attack is devastating to a construct. Flurry, ignores armor, and ++ to damage is death to just about any construct hit with it. And the Terror 12 meant I was wasting high cards just to be able to attack it. Hard to wound and hard to kill and armor means it's damn hard to take down. If every heavy hitter you have is a construct, how do you deal with this?

  13. hitting a big DF mook with -4 def means piglets can cause wounds to it... hitting it with the Ulix splash that calls all pigs within 6 to attack the mook after that... priceless...

  15. she absolutely can, though its one AP per grem unless she's attacked.
  16. I would think any zerg master, IE summoners with a lot of low def, low wound models would be most vulnerable to this, but as was said earlier... I think every master has the ability to counter this if they have enough model selection possibilities. As to corn husks... I dunno what tables other people are playing on but generally we get a lot of cover in our games, lanes can be open, but drawing a LOS to a piglet behind a building isn't always so easy. It seems like other people are saying every pig is going to be able to use this ability all the time, sure isn't the case in our games. Further, if you got a stack of piglets behind a scheme bunker and your using them to let Ulix summon... where's the huge advantage? I mean if a pig moves once and drops a scheme 3-4 inc away, that means he can move back or close to his original position behind the bunker... ok... or Ulix, or Old Major can use one AP to bring them all together behind the bunker. so what... they might be slightly more exposed for an action or two? I just don't see how this is so extremely overpowered, beginning of this thread people sure made it sound like this single ability was killing all the fun...
  17. guy on the Trixy thread mentioned Roja charged, ma pushed him aside and wacked, trixy pulled ma back, rise and repeated till he killed the master and won. Ma definitely needs a big beatstick in the crew other than herself...
  18. I've yet to play as Ulix (still building my proxy army) but I work nights and have a LOT of time to think about this stuff... so some synergy ideas... Trixy- awesome for bouncing pigs around, pushing stuffed pigs at opponents etc, and if you keep her near a pigapult and she has the bounty upgrade gets a SS every time a model dies to it. Merris- Agreed is great for Ulix, if your taking sammy with her you got some great card drawing synergy if they keep close together, also her 0 interact action is also good for dropping the scheme markers/more pig production. Also... if your facing raspy or another master/crew with lots of auras or blasts, she's almost an auto-include. Sammy- one o the best for any grem crew, a lot of people like adding the hunting bow to him for range, then ulix can prod while sammi hands out the 2 AP as well. Old Cranky- good model to take with the pigapult, and again... killing a model with shooting=draw card, old cranky+trixy+sammy= every time you kill a model get a SS, draw two cards, discard one. I'm really considering this for a pigapult crew. Student of Conflict- extra AP to have that pigapult firing 4 times, or cause a slop hauler to heal twice, or give Ulix even more pig summoning. Raphael- shoots over the piglets at up to 36 inc, can shoot the enemy (or stuffed pigs)... and with a ram doing up to 8 wounds, can weaken the bigger lugs for sow "finish him!" death charge (and if you have the trixy/cranky/sammy combo... more cards, more soul stones) Lenny- extra piglet production for the pigapult, gives Raph his dumb luck every shot, gives Gracey her reactivate if riding in saddle. just some ideas...

  20. THANK YOU JUSTIN!!! sevorin- do you think that people who have had no negative experiences with a master will go to rage on the forums about their experiences with them? I fully expect that when somebody has a game go against them in some way they didn't expect, they will hop on here with endless complaints and send emails to wyrd, etc. It is theory that the ability or upgrade is overpowered, the reasoning behind the postings is not always rational, mostly it seems emotional, and basing big rules changes on a very small number of people's negative emotions about a hand full of games (IE. not consistently) wouldn't be a great idea IMHO.
  21. your assuming his entire crew is pigs, if he goes for pigapult it wont be, most people like taking sammy, trixy, or merris with him as well, if he adds lenny to give gracey rams, thats a whole heck of a lot of points not tied up in pigs, a crew like that you only need to kill sow or gracey and general.
  22. meh, "current top player" out of how many around the world, and by current do you mean last weekend? does it change that fast? "tremendously powerful" vs "maybe too powerful" vs completely boring and unexceptionally average when you consider every master has abilities that will range from "maybe" to "tremendously" powerful entirely depending on circumstances and opponents skill levels. I want masters who excel in specific areas, and have big weaknesses in others, that makes them interesting to me. what happens to ulix if you kill off all his piggys? ans: he gets a single walk and does crappy damage, basically about as worthless as a 4 pt peon model. I don't want all masters to have entirely balanced abilities so much so that the only difference is a special effect description. If an ability is slightly unbalanced either to the master's benefit or hindrance, that's totally fine with me. lets review that at the M3e betas if we think things need adjustment. If a master is completely overpowered or there's some crazy loophole that makes a master unbeatable my question would be why didn't beta testing discover the flaw? likely because it isn't a flaw or unbalancing its just that master's nifty (completely able to be countered) trick.
  23. well I guess thats it boys, Sherloc over here figured out our whole dastardly plan... what bad expirences? ya read that thread, and the one where he goes over what happened in each of those adepticon games (including a game where he did nothing but flee elites and killed no models the whole game, lol his opponent said it "was like trying to nail down jello"), and you find it was an awesome time had by all, not to say his strategy isnt hawesome, it absolutely is, it's brilliant, but the key in all of this is one guy might see Collette as totally overpowered, another might see her as weak and ineffectual, bottom line is how big is the pool of people were polling from and how many games are their opinions based on? this is called "playtesting" and its a heck of a lot more accurate (I would hope) than random opinions on a forum. Colette isnt a very easy master to use, one big screw up can cost you the game, I very seriously doubt many people would call her one of the top tier masters, and yet very difficult strats like that do exist but it doesn't mean they are OP. I don't have a problem with discussion but "should this get the cuddle bat or not?" immediately puts people who don't like the abilities on the offensive, and people who do on the defensive. its begging for gross conjecture. Ofc I dont wanna see models I want to get but cant even buy yet targeted on threads like that. Then on that topic where Wyrd is taking an interest and reading postings where a very average ability (in comparison to other masters) is being called "Distressing" "Unfair" "just plain wrong" and solutions like "make em discard! make em take damage for charging! Cuddle the other models they have synergy with! are being offered... yeah I'm gonna call foul on all of that and point out all the ways those opinions are based on very little experience, almost none really, and aren't really based in reason. and yes Mr Detective, I will do that because I don't want my toys to be targets based on flimsy random anecdotal forum opinions. your absolutely correct. math- what do you mean when you say "we are talking past" one another... not getting it... I think we both feel pretty strongly about our opinions, but heh really its just a game.
  24. question here.... pigapult is a peon construct, so trixy's lure should work on it, but it has a charge stat of "0" does that mean she cant really effect it... right?

Exactly Math, the only way to determine IF ulix or the Sow, or an upgrade needs a cuddle is with the comparison of other similar abilities of other models, not from the bad experiences of a couple of players before the models are even released to the public. that's why I started off saying, its just too soon to even rationally discuss the issue. as to Colette not being a train of hate... your right, she's an unhittable rage train of utter destruction... you REALLY need to read this post on her... http://wyrd-games.net/community/topic/100241-colette-%E2%80%93-the-adepticon-almost-master-of-malifaux-crew-creation/ 3 pts for line, and nothing can come within 10 inc of center board without getting dead dead dead on turn 1, AND she can pull all those models that just wacked killjoy in a single activation back into complete cover before you can take a swing at them... its just sick... (cant wait till her plastic box comes out) Its reading posts like that, that really make me ask "how is anything Ulix is doing worse than that?"
