  1. Nice job Malidave!! Almost has a cell shaded feel to it.
  2. Thanks Monkeyboy! I tried to keep the highlights subtle looking, while still bringing them up to a much lighter (almost white) tone in some areas. Hopefully resulting in what I'd assume blue skin would look like. It was a bit of a struggle at first, constantly thinking....Ok you're mostly one color, let's try to give you some character lol. His armored arm was fun though, It was the first time I've tried a really aged/worn look on armor. I like how it turned out. I'm glad the Menacing theme came through though! I've tried to keep that going throughout my Lilith set. She's the only one left! Then on to my next set.
  3. Finally finished Barbaros! Not sure how I feel about him yet... but I would love to get your opinions etc! Here are a few pics: As usual the pics are a little rough, might have lost a few highlights, but best I could get lol.
  4. Thanks guys! I'm enjoying painting the bases almost as much as the models. They allow me to experiment with technique quite a bit. I like how the skin turned out on this one way more than the cherub's base. My lady likes them too, even though they are "gross" lol. Oh, Barbaros is almost done, just needs higlights. Going to finish it after work. (Darn work getting in the way of painting)
  5. Been busy with "honey do's" the past couple days, but here is a little something. Please let me know what you think. Barbaros's base WIP: (Hopefully have him done tonight or tomorrow) sorry for poor lighting.
  6. I'm still learning, but I'll second Krylon grey primer, works wonders. Nice "tooth" to paint on, with no issues. It's all I'll use now. Although, I also agree with what someone else said. When I first started, I found White Primer to be a great teaching tool. It's much easier to catch mistakes, and also see your brush strokes, as well as tell if you have your paint thinned properly.
  7. All of your work is fantastic! The tones you achieved on the Ice Golem and Ice Gamin are remarkable. Crisp, yet soft enough to be believable. Working in monochrome can be a real pain to make it look natural. Your experience shows. I struggled a bit when working on my tots, but I'm learning. My favorite though, is your paint job on Willie! I can tell you had a lot of fun doing it. His personality really comes through.
  8. Thanks Feral! It was hard trying to decide how much blood to add to the models themselves, since the bases had so much already. So I decided on subtle. Too much would have been overkill....maybe lol
  9. I appreciate that. I say, go for it! They were a joy to paint. Frustrating at times, but still a joy. Awesome! Then I accomplished what I intended! I was trying my best to make them look like the nasty little buggers they are.
  10. Great WIP! Really clean work. Bad luck about the model breaking off. It can be a pain to fix. I've done it quite a few times myself. lol
  11. Thanks Zfiend! Hopefully I will have Lilith and Barbaros finished in the next couple days.
  12. A little later than intended, but oh well. Please tell me what you think. Critiques always welcome! The other 2 tots:
  13. As promised, here are the bases for the Terror Tots, as well as one of the Tots. I will be finishing and posting the other 2 tomorrow. I'll try to get some better pics. Please let me know what you think! Bases: First Tot: The pics blow, but I'll try to get some better ones later.
  14. I have to say...not only are your paint jobs amazing, but your sculpting is absolutely stunning!
  15. Thanks guys! I'm off the next couple days. So hopefully I can finish the terror tots, and post them.
  16. For me, normally anywhere from 4-5 hours to 2-3 days. Just depends on the model. I work nights (get home around 2-3AM), so I find myself painting when my wife and son are asleep. Lots of quiet time.
  17. Absolutely stunning work! Really enjoyed going through looking at them all. I can't wait to see more!
  18. I appreciate the complements guys! If you have any tips or critiques, those would also be great. The base is actually a very cool set of Secret Weapon bases that I found online for an excellent price. The rest is just paint job. The blood was done with three reds, and a brown wash, with a glaze of future over the top, to make it glossy for now. I'm expecting some Tamiya clear red, in the mail tomorrow, to further the effect. Though, I'm doing some experiments with Green stuff as well. Once I make something I like, I'll most likely post it.
  19. I'll be posting more in the following days. Just finished up the bases for some terror tots. Working on them next.
  20. Fantastic work! The details are amazing.
  21. Thanks! Had issues trying to decide on a color scheme lol.
  22. I know a few of you read my "New to Miniatures" posts, but I finally received my Malifaux models in and I'll be posting them here. I'm new to the hobby, and I'm still learning every day. Please feel free to post opinions and critiques. As always tips are GREATLY appreciated!! First box I'm working on is the Lilith Mother of Monsters Box set: First the Base: Now together: The skin is actually a "Mottled" light Purple, the camera bleached it out some.
  23. Thanks for the complements and tips guys! Also, thanks to Viruk for letting me know what model he is! I looked them up and it seems I completely lucked into using the paint scheme that fit them. I thought "hmm isn't that an odd coincidence". I honestly just painted him how I saw it in my head. I really tried to use the tips you guys have given me about contrast and making it "pop" more. I have liked my other models, but so far it's the first model that gave me that "wow, I did that" feeling. Granted, it's still far from perfect. Though, I think we are all most likely our harshest critic. We are all constantly learning, and I think that is what makes this hobby so great!
