  1. Austringers are downright awesome against pretty much anything. They have nice range when focused, when not focused they can pick targets in combat due to the lack of the on the Sh. They can also disengage themselves and help with objectives with Deliver Orders. Death Marshalls are similarly awesome with pretty good melee and shooting, they are pretty resilient and bring some nice burial utility to the board which can trap enemy or taxi your slower more fragile models around with the help of unimpeded. They also leave scheme markers when they die so again help with objectives. All in all they are very good at very different things. When I play Justice I often take both because one can help support from close range while the other supports at a distance.
  2. I've not used her but I've played against Perdita, the amount of movement shenanigans she has not to mention the range on her guns means she can quite happily move around a spread out crew to lay down the law when and where it's needed. This didn't stop Kaeris from lighting her up but it was difficult trying to get my hands of the slippery little rascal!
  3. Oh rly?! Well in that case my local Henchman has been cheating and will be getting a Seamus style Backhand from ma'bad self, quite possibly followed up by a Palm Side as well.
  4. Hitting The Hungering Darkness with Whispers from Beyond from a Hanged means their beloved Totem can't heal up once it's buried. This hurts them a fair bit as he is one of the better if not the heaviest hitter they have. Taking Condition removal can seriously hamper their plans because Hungering Darkness and many other models in the crew utilize Brilliance once it's on your models. Remove it as and when you can to put a dent in their plans. Beware of Beckoners, they can really be a pain in the backside as they are fairly competent Lure users so if you can get rid of them you wont be pulled around like a rag doll. Be careful when cheating in high cards, Lynch can cheat face down with one of his upgrades meaning Lynch players often try to bluff when they cheat, not a major issue but annoying when it happens. Recycling Ace of :masks with Terror Tots means they have some mean objective runners, they probably need to die if this starts to happen, they can effectively sprint 20" which is gonna ruin your day. Models that can ignore armour (for Illuminated) and Incorporeal (Hungering Darkness) can be very effective against this crew. Illuminated have Armour +1, Regen +1 and Brillshaper which is a (0) 1/2/3 healing flip so Hanged can help here. Some nice Ca damage or models that ignore Incorporeal can be very effective against Hungering Darkness, Hans is always a nice choice because you can deal with both of these issues with his Sniper Rifle Triggers. The Fk Librarian is great at nuking Hungering Darkness as she can discard for 3 casts of Ancient Words which is resisted on Df, Hungering Darkness has low Df so it's a great model as she can heal you as well. These are some of the basic thing's I watch out for when playing my regular Lynch opponent. Hope it helps!
  5. Great Bat Rep! I almost always load out Von Schill the same. The Shirt Comes Off... (Why wouldn't you?!), Survivalist so he also gains Hard to Kill and those tasty healing flips and Spoils of War, if your strapped for cards/stones this one is a winner and for it's cost it's pretty awesome.
  6. It's worth a try, I managed to hold off Santiago and Perdita in combat for about 2 turns with Misaki whilst draining my opponents hand and stones by adding extra crows in for Assassination, between the stones and high crows I'd been saving he couldn't do much about it. I knew I'd never get it off but my opponent used most of his hand and soulstones trying to keep them both alive, meaning the rest of my crew could do what they wanted without too much trouble. Once I ran out of stones I got the crows for free and defense was a cheeky bonus. I wasn't using a henchman either so all 7 stones were purely for Misaki and the odd extra draw. It was worse last week with Ansatsu Sha having the Assassination trigger. 3 models throwing that around was filthy but then again I don't use it to kill models, I see that as a perk. I use it to drain an opponents hand or cache to give me an advantage.
  7. I actually do the opposite of this. I tend go aim for 5-7 stones with Misaki but I do go heavy on them with with defensive flips and extra suits purely because not having any with Misaki comes with it's benefits. For other masters it's primarily for defensive flips or damage prevent however I'd say a good 50% of my stones go on extra cards during the draw phase though. I don't tend to re-flip initiative unless I'm desperate or my opponent is winning on a fairly low card, something like 6-7 or lower. The best use of a stone for me was with Lady J though. I wanted to power house Izamu so I dropped a stone for a :rams then cheated in a 13 :rams to guarantee I hit him (Still ended on a damage flip after the duel) declared critical strike and flipped the red joker for a crushing 15 damage! My opponent was pretty much crying after that, he did beat her silly later that turn to get revenge but it was a joyous day.
  8. I'll keep this one short and sweet. What models are you guys using to proxy these guys until they get an official model? I'm struggling to find something suitable or to my liking. Links or pics appreciated Cheers
  9. Hi Guys I'm looking at ordering one or possibly two of the clear plastic boxes available in the sale. I have some concerns about painting them given the nature of the plastic they are made from. Will this cause any issues with scratching or will they be alright? Cheers
  10. I assume you are running into the same problem most of us with the plastic Death Marshalls are having, stopping them from falling over. My only suggestion would be to glue coins to their bases or something of a similar size / weight to keep the bases heavy. I tried to GS the area in and it only really helps a little. If your mounting them on cork as well then you really want to use washers or something like that. You could look into something like a 30mm thrust or penny washer. These seem like they would suit your purpose if in fact this is the problem you are having. They are pretty weighty and cheap as chips. I can get a bag of 100 for about £4-6. As for being fragile, I wouldn't worry about it, I used the notoriously rubbish Games Workshop Thin Plastic glue to put my LJ crew together and they have never broken since. Even the dodgy looking Death Marshall connections when they are surfing or hopping over their Pine Boxes, dropped off a table and bounced back unscathed!
  11. I'd go with Hans, FK Trapper, Convict Gunslinger or maybe even Sue. All are compitant shooters with some nice abilities. Hans Custom Ammo is incredibly useful, he ignores LoS blocking Markers, Auras and Pulses and can focus to fire 36" FK Trapper has a similar rifle to Hans (18" or 36" when focused) but comes with a to attack, he can also deploy pretty much wherever he likes. Convict Gunslingers can put out some hurt are and pretty tough to boot. Sue is also good at shooting and melee and offers your crew support against Ca actions and can light things up with Circle of Fire. I'd say any of these would be great choices depending on what you want to do.
  12. I've added details to the clubs forum http://poolegaming.forumotion.co.uk/t87-malifaux-escalation-league
  13. This stuff couldn't have come at a better time! I've just started making my own "dust town" style board and these are PERFECT!!! Payday is nearly upon me, expect backing! --EDIT-- Just a quick question. I'll more than likely be backing for the Wave 1 Starter Set as it suits my purposes down to a tee. As I'm based in the UK do I need to include additional funds for postage when pledging? If so can you give me an idea how much?
  14. Some great advice there, thanks a lot guys. This gives me a lot of food for thought
  15. Hi I'm finally getting round to planning a wargaming table to have something nice to play on and seeing as I work for a construction company there is no short supply of goodies to pinch to fulfill my needs but I'm stumped on how to go about basing the table. I've managed to "borrow" a nice piece of 18mm plywood which I intend to cut down into 18"x18" sections and I want to give it a textured surface so it can be painted to look like a dust town like the old west. I envision some sort of dusty town with a few small buildings, rocky outcrops and a water tower but cant figure out any way to give it a sandy surface without making my wallet cry. Some of the guys have recommended using a blue grit bonding agent used by plasterers then priming it for painting but the smallest tub I can get is 5 ltrs and is WAY more than I need. Any suggestions?
  16. If memory serves (been a while since I used mine) Oiran are not Outcasts anymore, they are exclusively Ten Thunders (Last Blossom). However they do have the mercenary trait so the Viks can take them. I often use a couple with my Viks.
  17. I love'em! I did check out the Helldorado line of models for a suitable proxy but I must have overlooked these guys. They both look pretty BA. Back to google for me, I think you may have found me my proxy
  18. Hi guys I'm pretty much sold on buying Kaeris on my next payday and I'd like to have her on a nice scenic resin base but I'm concerned that she will just snap off over and over due to a very small contact point and being metal. I was hoping for tips on how to go about attaching her, either pining or some other method to prevent her from coming off the base so much. http://www.wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?30357-Iron-Heel-Kaeris-Crew Whilst scrolling through a google search I came across Iron Heel's thread (see above link) on his Kaeris crew and something like what is shown in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th pictures down is what I envision but I'd have the pin hidden inside the base but I'm not even sure how to go about doing this. I've got a hand drill with 1mm and possible 2mm bits but before I go and trash a perfectly nice model I'd appreciate some advice from somebody a bit more experienced. What sort of size hole would be required? What is the best material to use for pinning and where would I get my hands on the stuff I need? Thanks
  19. Thanks for your input guys! Some great suggestions all round. I found one image yesterday that struck me and a big winner only to find out that the model isn't available yet as far as I'm aware. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/loudnraging/raging-heroes-the-toughest-girls-of-the-galaxy/posts Half way down if a model called Yoko the Psyko, Pyromaniac. Imagine a Jailbird type with a HUGE flame thrower who looks awesome for a proxy! Keep the ideas coming though please the more ideas I can come up with the better! EDIT Just came across these guys... What do you guys think? http://www.taban-miniatures.com/shop2/popup_add_image.php?pID=598 http://www.taban-miniatures.com/shop2/popup_add_image.php?pID=467 They lack something to represent the flying but they seem like madmen looking to burn everything they can! EDIT 2 http://elementgames.co.uk/wargames-and-miniatures/fantasy-miniatures-games/bushido/hotaru Also just found another model that kind of works, thoughts?
  20. Hi I've been keenly keeping an eye on Kaeris' updates each week in the wave 2 beta as I liked her crews models since I first laid eyes on them. I'm now seriously considering buying them but I am having trouble finding a suitable model to use as The Firestarter until there is word of the new Masters getting plastics. I've managed to find a nice Fire Elemental model which will be used as the Eternal Flame however for The Firestarter I'm truly stumped! Does anybody have any ideas on where I can get my hands on something suitable? My skills with modelling putty and greenstuff are non-existent so something which literally needs building, basing and painting would be ideal! Thanks
  21. Thanks for the help guys. I'm giving the Mrs a beginners intro tonight and tomorrow as well so If she can get to grips with the game I'll probably look at doing something similar for her and she likes the whole Performer / Burlesque girl look Collette has going on.
  22. Hi guys I'm currently trying to convince my partner to get into Malifaux and she has taken a bit of a shine to the Collette crew but I can't seem to find anywhere that sells a Coryphee Duet model. Am I correct in assuming that I'll need to make one using 2 Coryphee and just mounting them on one base? If so are the arms separate from the body to allow different poses? Thanks
  23. I've also been hunting for a Hannah model if not a proxy but they seem to be a rare breed instead. I assume there has been no mention of an official Hannah model to be made available to the general public? Maybe with a new Plastic Von Schill box or something? Having seen the release schedule up until Jan obviously there isn't going to be one for a while but have there been any rumours regarding this?
  24. Hi guys 'n' gals I've been lurking here for a while and decided to finally post something. I'm a fairly new Malifaux player (Got into the game at the VERY end of M1E) and have been enjoying the game immensely since I started gaming seriously at the beginning of M2E, so much so my Warhammer days are almost over! I've been playing the Viks who are my first love as well as Lady Justice and more recently Von Schill. I'm really trying to focus primarily on the Outcasts and Guild as I love their models and fluff so I'm now looking to take up Lucius as I have a few of the Guardsman models I picked up for Lady J (Riflemen and an Austringer). I could really do with a few ideas on where to start with a Lucius crew and what is typically fielded with him when he is taken as a Guild Master. I'm toying with the idea of my Riflemen as the models are to cool not to use as well as some Guild Guard but beyond that I'm stumped! I like the look of the Guild Captains, Drill Sergeant Dashell, Hounds, Lawyers and even some of the Neverborn stuff such as Beckoners and a Doppelganger. Some pointers would be a great help because everything looks too cool and people wont play a 100ss game so I can use it all! Cheers
