  1. Well, rule-wise, you're correct. Aesthetically, it matters a fair bit. Scale issues have plagued Wyrd for always and it's an oddity they can't seem to kick. I don't understand why they don't make master reference models of their human, gremlin, and other races as they come up and just refer back to that "average" when they start work on new things. Instead, we get giant "young" gremlins, crouching models who are as tall as standing models (although in the case of the Silurids, the crouching model is actually smaller than the other two...which was amusing), and enough variation in head size that I can't decide if the goal is true-scale, heroic-scale, or "I've been cursed by a witch doctor, please send help" scale. How a TT Game looks is often as important as the rules. The main reasons I've heard in-person for someone not getting into Malifaux aren't cost or rules-related. The reasons are "I hear the models are really hard to assemble" and "I hear the scale is really inconsistent" You see the former in every new Gremlin release at least and the latter is a treat we get with almost every new box of minions it seems, as one of the three is inevitably out of scale with the other two.
  2. That Blight Wheel model is the cutest ****ing thing I've seen all week. Oh my God, I'm practically squealing. Good find!
  3. I really want to see Ophelia next to Perdita now...who has the bigger hat?
  4. If you want a set that's relatively forgiving on assembly, I'd suggest Sonnia's. Samael's got some tiny bits on his belt tools, but they actually went together fairly easily. Sonnia herself is a breeze, the Purifying Flame is nowhere near as bad as it looks, and the Witchlings are all one-piece models. Rasputina's crew is also fairly simple - Ice Gamin are small, but not overly fiddly.
  5. I didn't find Yan Lo's beard that bad - at least it slots into the hole without having to shave it down or anything. You may need tweezers if you have large fingers, however. I'm wondering what weird combination of keywords Wyrd accidentally hit that caused the following rule to occur: "If you are a plastic Gremlin, your feet must be separate bits."
  6. I think he's trying to use hyperbole to be funny and make a point, but he's failing quite spectacularly at it. Ignore it and move along
  7. Yeah, my bad, they still range from $35-50 - a few 10T crews are still $35. Somer retails for $45 it seems - the stuff released at GenCon all retailed at $50.
  8. Well, "in general" is the key there - Teddy generates an exception. Plus if the rules state "when it can't take anymore Actions" and Teddy's last Action generated another Action, then you still have an Action to spend. Action.
  9. No, that's pretty much standard pricing for most crew boxes in Malifaux - they range from $40-50.
  10. Probably not too surprised since it was announced in advance and most of the Bayou Boss boxes have a sticker saying as much
  11. That shouldn't be surprising - that's how Wyrd lays out their sprues for their crew boxes. Hell, Von Schill could be separate, too. Same could be said of any non-duplicated crew box choice in the M2E plastic crews - you could sell the Poltergeist, Kade, Candy, and Pandora all separately, for instance, given their sprue layout. --- My notes from that unboxing are: Well, Von Schill, we know you're a M2E Master now - your totem is absurdly over-sized for its base.
  12. Thanks Aaron! I was wondering and this was easier than clogging up the customer service line.
  13. Before I go to the trouble of asking for things that aren't supposed to be there, was the Nightmare Whiskey Golem supposed to include the upgrade card for Angry Drunk?
  14. This is mostly a little bit of opinion/preference rather than any specific "what's better" question, but I'm wondering what preferences are on the several dual faction 10T masters. So...bit of a list and 3-minute observations on the ones in question: Misaki (Dual with Outcasts) - I haven't had a ton of time with the main girl, but she seems to be rather independant of her crew. I'm guessing at that point it comes down to which upgrades you most want access to - and I'm prone to want to run her as 10T. Mei Feng (Dual with Arcanists) - no real clue, not my playstyle. She seems to benefit from constructs, which are more abundant in Arcanists, though Komainu and access to Foundry models helps. Jakob Lynch (Dual with Neverborn) - his core crew doesn't change much for me and a ton of what gets taken are inherently dual faction anyway. However, I'm currently more likely to run him as Neverborn for easier access to objective runners - once you get the Ace of Masks, Terror Tots become even more absurdly useful at the role, for instance. Yan Lo (Dual with Resurrectionists) - this is another one where I feel like most of your core crew is going to stay the same regardless of what faction you declare - plus things like Toshiro come pre-equipped with rules that let them use their preferred models. I'm leaning towards Rezzer primarily, as I see a bit more use out of some the generics there. Lucas McCabe (Dual with Guild) - absolutely no idea, never played him or seen him played >_> Brewmaster (Dual with Gremlins) - not really sure...nor am I sure it matters. You pretty much have to take an upgrade if you want to make full use of Tri-Chi models regardless and I'm not familiar enough with Gremlins at the moment to make any opinions.
  15. Nice work! Kade is unsettling - the first thought that went through my head was "Kill it with fire!" The Sorrows look spectacular and the coloring on the ladies is quite nice.
  16. *gives Wyrd "the look"* Oh really now? *turns to camera, gives look from The Office*
  17. I'm not sure it's hostility I'm sensing so much as incredulousness at the initial comment. Warmachine players saying that you only ever play one type of game in Malifaux is a bit backwards - with Warmachine, you pretty much always have a guaranteed way to win in caster-kill. With Malifaux, you don't know your win conditions until you get to the table. Malifaux is about the only game I can think of where "tabling" your opponent doesn't guarantee you've won. I mean, I know Warmachine and Warhammer and what-not all have different "scenarios" but by far the only thing I ever seen played with either of them is "Kill your enemy" It was just an odd statement to see, given that Malifaux is probably the most fluid in terms of win conditions out of the games I play or see played.
  18. Silly question time. Not 100% familiar with Gremlin options (especially whatever is added in Crossroads), but is there enough redundancy in abilities in-faction to enable most strategies/schemes to be completed without utilizing pork products? Obviously Ulix will want pigs - and I'm not about to suggest using him without them - but can you get by with running, say, Mah or Wong without bacon? I'm already willing and able to run Brewie without oinking back-up, but I'm curious as to the rest of the faction. In other words: what are pigs good for, and do other in-faction options do similar things, even if they're less efficient at it? Thanks!
  19. Ooh! And even if it's not simply adding on guts and viscera is a much easier solution than mucking around with cobbles - good call!
  20. Hmm...looking at this, my only "problem" is that one of them is coming out of the ground and that means I have to figure out how to make my cobblestone bases look like the cobbles are breaking apart enough to look like something could be busting out of them. Bleh. Also - shall we start taking bets on how many tiny and absurd bits will be included? How many arrow shafts or bits of wire will be their own pieces? Oooh, the possibilities! XD
  21. Happy Mask Salesman (Neverborn - Mimic) Mechanics swirl around face stealing, which further enhances mimic capabilities of avoiding death at the hands of the other crew. "Healing Song" ability that can either damage an enemy model or heal a friendly Mimic. "You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you?" which gives an enemy model a condition that causes them to drop a friendly (to the Salesman) scheme marker at their death. I wouldn't mind seeing him with Manipulative and Chatty, but I'm guessing that'd be absurd on a Master-level model
  22. So if I paint myself (or any mercenary model) green, we're welcome to be there? Problem solved! Condition removal via Johan(a) in green-face!
  23. Other way around, but the rest sounds correct. I sold an Alt. Perdita earlier this year and I know I didn't spend that much on Black Friday
