  1. I get where you`re coming from, but there`s also my problem - "Asset limits" is not a keyword that`s anywhere explained :s I know it`s wonky, but I have to prepare for rules lawyers at tournaments, and the best arguments against them are written rules - just want to raise awareness on the fact that there is room for interpreations because of the lack of an explicit keyword.
  2. Is anyone elese aware of the fact that RAW one could argue that you are allowed to attach more than one copy of the same UNIQUE Prototype asset during hiring (or scouting to be more precise) as long as it`s to two different units? There is a point on p.40 in the grb explaining the "limitations" for assets, one of them is the "Unique" keyword. Restricted (x) and Slot are also on this list, so an Infantry unit could attach cehmical foggers or the titan could attachactive defenses armor.... Reason being there`s no definition of "Asset limits", so one could argue Prototypes ignore all "limitations", as that`s the only available term that seems to fit. Wouldn`t play it that way and I will rule against it in our club but want to put that out there, maybe there`s someone who could help us with that question or else it`s another point for the FAQ list?
  3. I´m just not sure the format of the rules forum fit`s the question tbh I´m no friend of that post "bumping" as it removes any semblance of coherency from the discussion.
  4. Does someone know a Wyrd staff member to tag for FAQs? Or someplace to post these questions, typos and mistakes for them to look over?
  5. Yeah, I would agree with both of your points tbh, but think that should be erratad/faqed because it robs you of a lot of the "standard" terrain for this game and just seems like, let`s say, "not ideal" rules writing atm, especially as forests are one of the examples given in the rulebook itself. I would rule forests as in Maliafux tbh, don`t know what I should do about that 2nd point - even our scatter terrain often has funny shapes to looka little irregalur on the table... Thank you for the fast response though
  6. So, I have some problems with LoS and cover rules in ToS, especially regarding such mundane terrain features as forest, large buildings and long walls, as well as "special" shaped terrain - L-shaped for example in my writings below. Now a copy from my fb post as I don`t want to type teh whole thing again^^ Where in the rules do I find anything about forests and what happens if I stand in! a piece of blocking terrain?Only thing I was able to find is p. 43 of the GRB.At first: "If at least one sight line can be drawn without being blocked, the Fireteam has LoS to the targe"- but we are talking about a Fireteam standing completely in! a blocking forest, so in theory all sight lines are blocked.- Definition of blocked:"When determining LoS, sight lines that pass through this terrain are blocked to units on the other side."-> so, are a Fireteams sight lines "passing through" the forest if said fireteam is completely within the forest or not?Second:"When a Fireteam can draw LoS to a target but at least one of it`s sight lines is blocked by an object more than 2" away from it the target is considered to have cover from the Fireteam."- so, I get that as soon as even a single of my sight lines is blocked or went through conceiling terrain the opp. get`s cover, but the definition of an "object" becomes the tricky part here imo.-> so, imagine a long wall or the side of a building, one fireteam at each of two corners - they can see each other, but do they get cover?I would say no, as the object that would provide cover is in 2" of the acting fireteam.Has the potential to get rather silly though with bigger buildings and long walls.Same with the forest example above - if I could see something while standing in a forest, would my target get cover?Do I ignore all of the forest, as he`s defined as one "object" and I´m in 2" of it, regardless of it`s size?Imagine L-shaped objects - fireteams on each side, is the whole thing a single object, so I get to ignore the long side as well as the short side?If anyone has any questions just ask, I would like that all aspects of this discussion are as clear as possible.btw., the whole point of me asking is that I want to be 100% sure about the basic rules before I can try and set some house rules (if neccessary) for future events, demo games and so on, so if you have an opinion and somewhere in the rules to point to, please join the discussion. We should be able to collect some facts for a future FAQ at least I would provide some example pics but can`t bring them to be small enough for the forum here 😕 Any experiences, rulings or ideas from your side? Would greatly appreciate any help
  7. Semi on topic, but Dragoons are amazing if not to draw cards than at least to cycle them while still being a very useful unit on the tabletop - I actually have a hard time not including them atm (but I also lile their aesthetics very much^^)
  8. Sure, only one fireteam - but it's not only the AV bump but the additional long range shot they can take, each and every round to at least affect the board a little while they're out there claming objectives. But sure, it all depends on points in the end
  9. Forward deployment seems super strong in certain scenarios and on certain tables, if the opponent tries to kill them your other troops live a little longer. And if even one guys survives you can try to bring em back^^ Confuse is a great action, especially against Hordes and Cult. I like to put a sharpshooter in one team, gives them a potent sh action and increases their AV on Confuse or even their own sh if you want to use that but I'm not sure I would take them in every game atm - though I've onlyplayed a couple of games until now of course^^
  10. Like it that you came back after everything had it`s happy end, nothing more to say
  11. But that's exactly what seems to be the case - Germany got it's retailer stuff but appearantly no ks backer got ToS, in Austria we have our ks models but nothing in the shelves as of yet. Believe it or not they sent the backer stuff first.
  12. Damn, and I didn`t think about the Engineers -sweet card draw Ha, you gotta love a new game where nothing is set yet^^
  13. Also str 4 on melee and more tactic tokens and commander movement for you on a trigger on their gun (?) - actually a lot of options if my friend wouldn`t play at the same time as I do xD
  14. Yeah, melee potential is something to look at in Allies, although I find Borderers and Dragoons quite capable themselves. If we`re counting toughness upgrades, a Motor Scout is also 3 pts, but yeah, it`s 5 for two compared to 7 for two, depends on how much you want them to actually do I suppose^^ EDIT: Can`t even take Marauders as you are only allowed to take Abyssinia SQUADS as an envoy^^
  15. Only thing I´ve read and thought about is Kassa and a Kings Hand, giving her (and to a extend the Kings Hand) basically a double turn via the "Keep Calm" stratagem^^ But couldn`t try it until now as where still playing at 25scrip and I want to get the basics first before trying something funny 😛 Mechanized Infantry seem quite good though with their big shooty robot and might fit exactly into the Empires play style. Question is if we would like to get their Bikes over our Motor Scouts for example, or use Basothos as cheap screening units? Crowrunners - would have to read their card again to see if any of their actions and triggers require Abyssinian units? Otherwise they seem like solid "schemers", at least that`s what the Abyssinian forums say Think Electrocutioners lose too much synergy outside of Abyssinia and I´m not 100% sure Steel Legion is worth it for us at 12 scrip.
  16. I´ll just say, Unathi commanding a unit of Electrocutioners to use their prototype (which they do for free) and then drawing a card seems like one good example of strong synergies to me
  17. Not played with them yet as we are only 4 guys / 4 factions and so always play at the same time, which limits the borrowing options^^
  18. So yeah, basically what the title says - what`s the best way to deal with these two units, especially in combination? Eels are already super annyoing to kill but that`s nothing compared to them standing around an Armoured Whelk making them completely immune to pinned, thus ensuring that their Regenration through Reinforcement tokens goes a really long way. Whelks need High strength weapons to be dealt with, but how much is too much fire put into one of them? So, what did you find works best against them? Looking forward to hear about your experiences
  19. Playing our first games here in Austria
  20. Have to agree to the general consensus, wether there is a company based issue or not, it certainly doesn't look reassuring 😕 I wish Mason and the others all the best of course Would still like to hear some honest words wether or not something bigger is going on or not though
  21. A pass token from every model in her crew doesn`t seem like it got rid of completely outactivating an opponent 😕 Great artwork though and I´m glad Waldo keeps his good work up^^
  22. How is that sentence the evidence for not needing a bayou to unbury?
  23. Would say Schill seems decent into Neverborn for certain strats, ignoring his glaring 1 cache problem 😛 Tara and again VS could exploit the Thunders problem with dealing with Armor/Incorp. Other than that I'm not sure any of the Outcast Masters is a real "counter" for other factions, but yeah, as said before, never play Daw into stuff with lots of aka Ten Thunders or Sandeep/Mages.
  24. @Fazza92do you have more success using other factions? If so, what would you say are the differences for you?
  25. I just mentioned the station as in the current discussion we're talking about outcast 9-10stone models, srongarm, lazarus and bishop where disregarded, stating that they are the worst at least in that price range - everyone else except the emissary is a henchman, so I guess station must be a part of it in this faction, considering that models like Montresor, Rusty Alyce and Ama no Zaku are seen as better models for their cost. Question is - does he not like enforcers in that price range in general, or just the outcast specific ones?
