  1. Perdita, Samael, etc all have reputations that precede them, I dont see why she wouldn't as well in short order. Malifaux is actually a smallish city, and they seem to have more modern tech than the date would suggest (aethervox for example). Some photos of her beating someone to a pulp would get around. And if the art is any indication of demographics, its not like there's a ton of women of color in the city, so she's going to be recognizable. Its not like Seamus is so fearsome because a fop in a frilly shirt and hat is everyone's secret fear (yeah yeah, I know he has magic, that's mostly in jest).
  2. I think it might be interesting and thematic if Tuco got Tormented as well. Does Jack get anything from Neverborn?
  3. I wished he was a more dynamic pose than just standing around. Like the outfit though.
  4. I'd assume 3 Union Miners. If its the mages I'll be pleasantly surprised.
  5. Ramos has been kidnapped by ninjas. Are you a bad enough dudette to rescue Ramos? I think she looks awesome, and Wyrd avoided making yet another fashion model playing tough. Consider her pre-ordered! She looks no less a master than, say, Perdita, McCabe, etc who are also "just" regular humans hanging out with regular humans.

    Collodi

Aha, figured there was something I missed. Thanks!

    Collodi

Out of curiosity, why a Beckoner over Lilitu? at least in the last beta, Lilitu seemed to have a higher CA on her lure, and is more durable (2 more DF, regen). Just for the trigger to push the beckoner? I wasn't terribly sold on Vasilisa myself. Sure she's fast, but at 9 points you could get 2 gupps to run objectives and pocket the stone. She's missing the suit on Obey, and its a mask, which the crew wants a lot of. Her melee attack's triggers are unreliable and let the opponent decide whether or not to deal themselves damage to avoid the effect, meaning they are worse than straight up control or damage. Yeah her Twist gives Collodi an extra action and can drag him around for 2 more, but that's a lot of points to sink into making him a bit better (and there was a lot of talk about limiting her actions to non-master).
  8. Which means you're still down the one stone for the upgrade buy in. Like the cuddled Nexus of Power, they're noob trap options, since you're better off spending the stone cost on an extra positive twists or damage prevention flip and save the upgrade slot.

    Ice Golem

From the unboxing, it appears his two sprues only contain his parts, so its possible he might see an individual release. Nothing concrete is known at this time though.
  10. You're right, the model just doesn't really reflect that.
  11. Oiran do have Pleasing, which I think might come in handy with Jack Daw's crew, given their terrible willpower. But yeah, the loss of the suit on Lure is pretty bush league. Also, as has been pointed out, Barbaros is just Armor 1. And nimble only goes so far given his crappy speed. His wings are apparently just for show.
  12. Also seconding Barbaros and Kade. Barbaros lacks the survivability you'd want for his role. When they made Nexus total garbage it pretty much gutted any chance of this guy seeing much table time. Kade doesnt offer anything special in a faction of fast melee killers. Even if illuminated weren't an option, I don't see fielding him. The CA of 5 on his lure is low (apparently nothing is allowed to approach the appeal of a dead hooker). They could have made him more useful as a tag team with Teddy, but making it a 2 action kind of nixes that.
  13. I had a Dark Age grafter handy, so used her. http://dark-age.com/shop/skarrd-grafter-1.html Though in my head she looks like Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas.
  14. Awesome, Fuhatsu's price dropped. He was originally listed at $40, which was the price of a whole crew and just too much IMO. I'm also pleasantly surprised at the low price on the dawn serpent. I'm hoping the hoarcat pride is 3 units, not 3 cats for one base. If so, that means gupps will hopefully follow a similar trend. Which makes the spawn mother much more affordable to play. Still no Zoraida. Guess she's batting cleanup. Is there anything still missing from Wave 1 after these releases?
  15. This. So much this. The derpy tadpole is so terrible. I guess we can hope he gets a resculpt in the avatar. Barring that, a nightmare edition.
  16. Reaper's Tiiks would work well. http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/tiik/sku-down/77187 http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/fishman/sku-down/77186 http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/fishman/sku-down/03616 The ones in the bones material are very easy to modify if you wanted to snip off the angler/sword.
  17. Other options not yet mentioned Pegasus has a line of plastic gothic buildings which are affordable and super durable. They work well for the city itself. They also have some walls and a pre-painted modular river that's about 4 feet long for under 20 dollars. Some of their other offerings like the Amera plastic moldings are also inexpensive, though I would recommend filling any of the larger hollow hill type pieces with spray foam insulation to increase the durability. Renedra offers a plastic church and creepy barn kit, as well as plastic fencing kits. Armorcast has a lot of terrain features (rivers, swamps, rocks) as well as buildings which would work well. Check out the "In the Hollow" line under fantasy for wooden structures that would work well outside of Malifaux. Resin terrain, but can take a while to deliver.
  18. Counterpoint - the youngs are smaller than 30mm based models. Great sculpts on those, but the same fool who keeps designing weightless 3d renders struck again with the young that's balanced on a thin piece of spine that's going to break the moment you put it on the table. He's at least easy to mount on a rock or tombstone. I was fairly disappointed with the soft detail on the mature in comparison to the youngs. I may end up using my metal versions of this instead. Its worth owning models to represent young and mature, particularly if you're running a grow list (which expands its options with the Wave 2 Nekima and Black Blood Shaman).
  19. They need to go back to real sculpts IMO. The digital renders are why we have impracticaly posed models like the copy cat killer balanced on one point and stupid thin pieces like the 10 thunder archers, yan-lo's beard and the hanged ropes that snap if you look at them. A real physical sculpt would catch things like that, as well as ensuring that the model's dimensions are appropriate.
  20. Darkhammer has a pretty awesome undead samurai as well. Its mounted though. I was planning on using it as my Dead Rider. Sha Rhen Ze or the Imperial Sentinel Demon might also work from Hell Dorado.
  21. I don't own the box, but noticed it appeared to be yet another Wyrd sculpt meant to live exclusively in a glass case. Is the entire thing actually balanced on the spine? If so, stick him on a rock or tombstone or something by the feet and let the head dangle over the edge.
  22. This is what I would suggest for beginners as well. Since parts are pre-shaded, you can basically do a solid wash with your color and then highlight. I personally have a harder time picking out detail on black primer, and you need more coats of paint to cover it up, which can lead to blobby/thick paint jobs if you aren't used to thinning your paints appropriately. Ultimately I would move towards a zenithal highlighting, which is a pretty easy priming technique that can do a lot of your work for you. You start with a dark base primer, then go over it in increasingly shorter arcs with increasingly lighter highlights. A gogogle search will turn up a number of useful videos and guides. Its easiest with an airbrush, but can be done with spray primer if you are judicious. Given the deals I see on Amazon, you can get a decent airbrush setup for a little over $100.
  23. I blame Miniature Market and Troll and Toad with their 50% off sales for skewing my ratio (of Malifaux at least) to its current dreadful state.
  24. That's assuming you buy the story as accurate. I don't. There's no way it lived that long and only used 4 stones given how easy it is to hit and its low wound count. Either someone's exaggerating, or they played the rules incorrectly. Fetid, you do realize incorporeal cant reduce damage below 1, right? There's no way it was hit 18 times in a round and lived. Then again, Fetid was also on a huge "cuddle HD to uselessness" campaign in the first beta anyways... With the new Nexus, Barbaros needs a re-write IMO. The new Nexus is pretty much trash, and he wasn't that great even with the old one. His damage output is terrible, and he needed the survivability the old Nexus gave to do his function.
  25. The green and smoke look really good. The Tara crew would look amazing with some starfields painted on them and lit with LED's underneath. I do wish the blue was a little more subdued on the Rasputina crew. Its not quite blue raspberry popsicles, but bluer than normal ice. Hopefully we can get a shot of the day glo tomorrow so I can determine which Pandora crew will match up with Slimer the best once inked.
