  1. Can someone be lured off a ledge? If they can, and the fall kills them, would the model that cast lure get credit? Or Obeyed to walk off a cliff? It seems like they just cast the spell and it was the fall that did the killing. For that matter, If I hit someone with a sword, its the sword doing the cutting... But I digress... I realize its a fool's errand to apply "real world" logic to game mechanics as there must often be concessions to keep mechanics consistent. But, I am a fool that likes erranding. ---------- Post added at 04:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:49 PM ---------- Grudge is the scheme that requires a melee strike. So it would definitely not get credit for poison.
  2. IN a higher point game, I like Molly having copied reanimator from Nico before he manifests. Then she can stone cast it via her totem, or a one-shot for her.
  3. Tough one for me. I find it difficult to narrow more than a top 5 and all for different reasons: 1. The 14-point model known as Lelu-Lilitu (Straight up value on all fronts) 2. Convict Gunslinger (So much hurt, so little cost) 3. Rotten Belle (So much utility for the points even when facing all Immune to Influence models) 4. Grave Spirit (1 point, Brings a crow to casting, pretty durable (Except to blasts)) 5. Watcher (3 Point significant, immune to influence flying awesomeness and worth THRICE his points if you happen to face aSeamus) Those are my "bangs for the bucks" Honorable Mention for Canine Remains when they run in large packs...
  4. I had never heard of Jack Daw being banned at any tournament before your post. That is interesting. ---------- Post added at 12:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:02 PM ---------- I dislike Von Schill primarily because he is the "answer" for so many rezzers and I dislike that. I have hopes that as Molly fleshes out with more horrors, that Von Schill-mania dies down. That having been said, Bosco, I find it difficult to see an upside to your post. It feels very much like you just want to pick a fight with people that choose to use a model they purchased.
  5. I guess its a positive sign of the growing popularity of the game that threads like this get revived and created, etc. Hopefully it does not become as much the norm as it seems to be in the other larger game systems. Wyrd is darned if they do and darned if they don't. If they take the GW policy, then you have a joke army like the necrons that became comically bad in 5th addition without house-rule help. (We used Dice Like Thunder mods and gave them stubborn and ditched phase out. ) If they listen carefully and take steps like changing "Bury" to heal a very real problem with the Dreamer/LCB, then they are "changing the game all the time". For what its worth, Wyrd is making the right choices IMO.
  6. Most Molly players I know regularly have Necrotic Machine cast the Acid Spit thing that Molly takes from Rogue Necromancy, so I would think so...
  7. There are few things that make me smile as much at the start of a game as having Jack Daw and seeing the Black Joker in my opening hand. Hangman's Knot is pretty great too since you automatically get the :masks in your cast and if they are within 6 inches when you cast, they cannot cheat it away. (And if you have a high :masks, you can cheat it in for HeartStopper trigger)
  8. I am a spike combined with contrarian. I like to figure out some things on my own and I also like to play things/ NOT play things DESPITE other's views on them. ie. I play Carrion Effigy and will NEVER touch Von Schill. I think that about sums me up.
  9. So, anyway... I love the current Molly sculpt. My other favorite is Lucius, but I also think another cool model of him would be great, just because I think that he is tough to NOT look cool. Von Schill does not need any love from anyone ever. Get bent, Von Schill. (Although it would be big $$ for Wyrd to make an alternate since he is probably owned by 99.999% of the community, another model of him would bring in that much more money since all the mirror matches could then run different models)
  10. Summon means within 6 inches. (But things that are Summoned get SLOW effect) You do not need to discard down. Embrace death is whenever you want, as often as you want. You choose whenever there is some new effect you might want (Or not want)
  11. So, does the original target still take the full damage then, even without an actual blast marker touching their base anymore?
  12. As long as there are different sculpts for models, repeat stats do not bother me at all for individual models. I have NO interest in Malifaux "units", but a group of Death Marshalls or Witchling Stalkers or Punk Zombies seems great to me. I feel like the "rank and file" having a certain uniformity makes a lot of sense. Speaking of Death Marshalls, I was reading a thread in the miniature area where someone was asking about proxies because they dislike the DM models and it just blew my mind. Its funny how subjective art is because it was literally the sculpt of the Death Marshall that is leaping above the coffin with one foot touching it and his billowing cape that I saw that made me want to know what this game was all about. Once I saw all three death marshalls it was simply a matter of how much room I had on my credit card... Little did I know at the time that they were stinking hated guild-scum... But they still LOOKED cool as *BLEEP* to me.
  13. New to playing her myself, so I would just throw out there the standard "What you should get" sort of list. Boxset Lost Love However many Seishin blisters are needed to get to 5 Total 4 Gaki 2 Shikomi Desperate Merc 1 blister canine remains There are all sorts of other combos and models you can get, but with that list, you are running with her basic stuff.
  14. 4 votes for Kirai... lol... What color is the sky in THEIR world? Aside from the obvious JOKE of giving Kirai 4 votes, I think that McMourning is 2nd most powerful by a considerable margin over Nicodem and then Seamus follows the pack by several lengths. Still trying to figure out the Kirai votes. I suspect its people that play other factions that are tired of seeing rezzers complain about things. (Which I can understand to a degree)
  15. I never saw OP or anyone else say this long-winded "treatment" was about the new FAQ. Sandwich appears to have only recently noticed some of the errata'ed cards from a while ago.
  16. I can appreciate many of your points sandwich and agree with most of your last post, but: "pretty OK"? He is FANTASTIC! There are issues, no doubt, but I feel like you want to spin everything in a negative light to try to strengthen your point and so underselling something as wonderful as the Dead Rider undermines your point, IMO.
  17. Never noticed that before. Pretty big difference.
  18. I am not sure I would say that's playing it "wrong". I WOULD say that summoning focus is not playing it as strongly as possible though.
  19. For me they have always been "meh" melee models that are decent with Nicodem BOLSTER but that occasionally provide very nice utility by helping protect "charge lanes" and objectives with Shafted markers. I have had games where they never cast it and others where it has been VERY useful in key bottlenecks. The paralyze trigger has seldom been useful, BUT, the THREAT of the paralyze trigger has caused automatic cheats. I have not had its blasts be useful, but I also do not run them every game and usually only with Nicodem. Overall, when I have 4 points that is not absolutely spoken for by a specific other need, I like having one in my list. (But I do not often have 4 points lying around)
  20. What a strange thing. I have never heard of something like it. Does the playgroup meet at a gaming store or is it a group of friends at a residence? If its a group of friends, they could very well have simply told the henchman "We want to play without Tadaka" or something to that effect. Still... Very strange. Playing against really good players and getting beat is an excellent way to improve at the game. If you are looking for suggestions, mine would be to talk to and hopefully play with one of the regular players and make an effort to have it be a positive experience for both of you. I do NOT mean throw the game or play bad enough to make it close, but more to explain everything as its happening and make suggestions after the fact about where improvements could be made. In my experience, when someone loses a game like Malifaux but walks away having learned something useful and having a pleasant experience, the "losing" part is not what is remembered. I would say that to me that it "feels weird (wyrd?)" to sort of tattle on the Henchman, but then again, I have no idea whether that person is not the sole instigator or not. I could imagine that if that person is blacklisting "on behalf of" the other players without them really being aware of it just because HE/SHE thinks it will make them have more fun, then that is a pretty bad attitude, IMO. But, if the person is truly responding to feedback from the other players, that's maybe an opportunity to talk with both sides to understand what could be done different to make everyone have a better time rather than just ostracizing you.
  21. Most of my questions are not anything to do with aSeamus specifically, its just in starting to use him that we realized how unfamiliar we are with the details of morale-duels/falling back/rallying. So, basically the scenario was that aSeamus managed to get into melee range of 4 living models all at once. So, he used his miasma to reduce all wp by -2 and then used his "Bellow of the big bastard" to make all 4 models take morale duels. This is where the questions start. 1. Do models that are trying to disengage because of "falling back" from a failed morale duel still get stopped by disengaging strikes that keep them in aSeamus' melee range? (wicked is so wonderful, if so) 2. If the answer to #1 is that aSeamus CAN prevent them from "falling back" out of his melee range, can they still rally on their activation within his melee range? 3. Again, if #1 is that he GETS a strike to keep them in range, is the minus flip for all duels other than morale duels already in place for their defensive flip on the disengage attempt? (All "falling back" models get minus flips to all duels that are not morale duels according to the rule book) 4. Can a model that is already "falling back" and has not rallied yet be made to take ANOTHER morale duel and if so, would it try to fall back again if it failed? 5. Similar to #4, if a model activates that just wants to rally, but its in the Terrifying range of something, does it need to do the terrifying check before even trying to rally? We played it such that aSeamus could keep the models in his melee range by preventing them from getting away... and it was basically a bloodbath that went so poorly for my opponent that we think that perhaps we did not play it right. (My opponent learned that it was DEFINITELY not right to get 4 models next to aSeamus regardless )
  22. I had not thought of it that way, but you are right, Rezzer special forces are not particularly... special... It would take a heck of a horror or two to turn the tide away from Von Schill though...
