  1. Looks like its jmp_mydog for Metro Detroit. I know there are also other players up there (I have seen a few from the Troy area.)
  2. Just throw those cards into production... another probable sale here. Who are you having print them for you? I love the idea of having some cards as a tournament gift. Plague doctor is also quite the fine model.
  3. There are also a few posts on BarterTown that say they have book 1
  4. If you are getting Lady J an Executioner can't be a bad addition and he looks cool to boot. I have Lady J and Sonnia. Neither of them are terrifying to approach (Sonnia just has a ton of words in her card) when you first start playing. Any of the Guild ladies will treat you pretty well to start and have the positive of being from the Guild, which once you get the game down, you can make some really fun crews. It might also be a good idea to try and hook up with a local Henchman if you have one for your area.
  5. If you want to get really crazy (I'm not sure it's worth the effort vs. just ordering a 25 cent card when it is available) you can use Ratty's Card Creator (available http://malifaux.nezumi.me.uk/ ) and print your own.
  6. I absolutely love to cards, like everyone else. I also love the dove on the table. Creative basing for an otherwise dull figure. If this is your painting without your eyes, I can't wait to see what you do when you get the back.
  7. Gamin are constructs so that drop scrap counters. Just a quick pointer. Welcome to Malifaux, it's great to hear you are having fun.
  8. I don't think that is a bug with the crew creator as much as a glitch in the rules.
  9. I wear glasses! Name pun intended now!
  10. I tried playing a game with my buddy that ladders take 3 inches instead of 4 and another where there were no penalties on ladders. I liked both of them to an extent. Using 3" you could feasibly make it up the ladder with one walk with most models. I wasn't crazy about no penalty... I think there should be some penalty but it really sucks to get to the top of the ladder and do nothing.
  11. So let's say you are using an Arachnid Swarm: You walk 2" to the wall and 3" up. You have to double walk (leaving 3" to walk) or charge (leaving 1" remaining.) So, for every inch of elevation, remove an inch of walk. As to ladders and stairs in terraclips: My group plays stairs as no movement penalty, ladders as standard climbing penalty(double your walk.) Arachnids need not worry about either.
  12. Right. I'm probably going to give her book one and two get her into the fluff. I also think looking at the pretty models helps a lot of people get into it. It helped me. Conversely it also made me by Lucius as my first box... bad one to learn on with not tabletop experience. Like I said, I have gotten her into comics. So, there is a precedent set for me getting her into nerd stuff. And I mean, she wears glasses... how can she not be a nerd.
  13. Without reading the card I couldn't tell you for sure, but I would suspect he could still grab objectives.
  14. I could be real wrong, but I will attempt to help you. 1) I am pretty sure that as it stands now, you can kill your own model and deny VP. Grudge and Protege are two really tricky schemes to announce... you have to pick the right model. 2) As it stands (again I could be wrong) but I believe because the poison killed him, you get no VP. Somebody correct me if i am wrong. 3) The model still gets to activate, but is not considered friendly. Ryle is like this all the time. It mostly affects some spells ("Target friendly model") and a few abilities ("gains +1ca per friendly construct in base contact.") 4) The initial shot isn't the blast so shoot away. Other Freikorps models will not, however, be damaged by subsequent blasts. ---------- Post added at 03:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:02 PM ---------- Sniped again.
  15. dgraz... racking up the thanks on the train.
  16. Hey, like I said, I don't judge for going out of faction. I think it's fun to take Hoffman and Coppelius. I think that it can even be competitive... maybe. I think most lists can be competitive. I have seen very few lists that I look at and say to myself, "Damn son! That list can't win anything." My buddy took an all Silurids list with Marcus and beat Kirai. I have no idea how... because that list shouldn't be competitive against Kirai. I just like to stick to my faction. Granted, I am a stubborn ass and I get real stuck in my ways.
  17. Ah, you give me such hope. I'm thinking I might get her to sit down and actually figure out the game in the next few days.
  18. 1) Call her up and tell her that! 2) Did you have tabletop experience before Malifaux?
  19. Agreed. I was jealous when I found out about you two. I was jealous when my buddy got his girlfriend to play. I'm just an all around envious guy. I also hope that if I get her to play, it will mean an awesome gaming corner in a room of our new place... an actual place to work and have everything laid out. Oh! What a dream it would be! Talking strategy with her is probably a ways off since she was getting frustrated with me as I was just trying to explain the models' cards layout... granted I'm probably not the greatest teacher. We'll see how far we can get. The real problem is that I think she is figuring out I am trying to full on convert her to nerd. I got her into comic books, tried to sell her on sci-fi, and now tabletops. I also found your thread in Events and bumped it to the top. Figured it couldn't hurt in organizing the Tri-State tourney.
  20. I happened to stumble upon this after posting in Jewomie's thread just a few minutes ago. As I said over there, my group is willing to travel(at the very least to Indiana) and we would love to meet more Malifaux people. I figured I would bump this to the top of the list while telling you non-Jewomie, non-RebeccaJo individuals that Columbus is down.
  21. Jewomie and dgraz hit what I was thinking. I'm a Guild guy, through and through. I don't own any models outside the Guild. I think it's more fun and more of a challenge to not hire in a bunch of models from other factions to make my crew the "most competitive" but instead to see how competitive I can be with just my faction choices. Granted there can always be a little bit of going out of faction (i.e. - Hoffman hiring Arcanist constructs) but I try and avoid that. I don't judge people for going out of faction, I just don't personally find it as fun.
  22. You have just blown my mind! I never even thought of that. Scrape some board edges into the dirt and go!
  23. Me and my buddy are thinking about trying to co-henchman central Ohio as well seeing as our gaming group represents almost every crew. I know I would be down to travel for a "Best Town Tournament." Try and get some bragging rights for Columbus. It also seems like you guys are pretty centrally located to a lot of players (Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, maybe Michigan) so it could also get a killer turnout. We ,of course, are always willing to host or help. It might feel good to lose to different players! 3 hours isn't really a drive to most of my group (we are all weird road-trippers) so we might even be able to play multiple times... maybe even become friends... woah. I'll pitch this to my group. In other news, I am using this thread and you two specifically to guilt my girlfriend into trying Malifaux. She said she is willing to try it. HA!
  24. The way I see it it's a continuing battle between Terrifying and Light Target. -Hit Jack Daw triggering Light Target -Jack Daw loses Terrifying -Jack Daw gains Terrifying->12 -Light Target takes away Terrifying->12 -Jack Daw gains Terrifying->12 -Light Target takes away Terrifying->12 -So on and so on ad infinitum until Close Phase I feel RaI might be that the Watcher is shining his light down Jack Daw for the rest of the turn, preventing any terrifying. However I certainly see the other side of the argument on this one.
