  1. A couple of tips if you want to try it. First layer with Adeptus battlegrey is more like a heavy overbrush then a drybrush just leaving a little black in the deepest recesses. Next step with Codex grey should be a rather heavy drybrush but not as heavy as the first. Then gradually lighter with Astronomican grey and Skull white. Also all parts on the model should not be equally drybrushed, and this is the key. For example the skin should be mostly white and light grey before applying the wash. While darker cloth like the blue dress should be drybrushed more sparingly with light grey and white. Also just paint on a thin layer of wash otherwise you will erase the highlights/shading from the drybrushing. Last but not least, VERY lightly drybrush carefully chosen areas with skull white, be careful not to overdo this step.
  2. I like this model a lot. Will have to check back for some inspiration when I decide to paint my own Snow storm.
  3. Maybe 4-4,5 hours with basing. But I am sure you can do it faster. Yeah, this is not how I normally paint, but it's fun to try new things. Don't think this style would fit all models but for ressurectionists I think its fitting. ---------- Post added at 06:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:00 PM ---------- My Raspy crew would be a step up, both in time and quality. Link: http://www.wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?28131-Rasputina! But for the moment I am working on Ortegas with Sue, for those guys I aim for a high quality. So might post a thread for those when I am finished.
  4. Hello! Just wanted to show the Seamus box which i did in a couple of hours, plus convict gunslinger. So speed painting is not something that really is needed for a skrimish game like Malifaux where the model count is very low. But not everyone is fond of painting (altough I am...) and you might want to knock together an extra crew in no time just to have something else to play with. If so this might interest you. So goals was to use only black, grey and white colours and washes,, so a very limited range of colours would be needed. And of course to produce a decent looking crew for the tabletop in very short time. So basically the model is first primed black. Then drybrushed with Adeptus battlegrey -> Codex grey -> Astronomican grey -> Skull white. Then I used citadel wahes to colour the model, just a thin layer, not a heavy wash. Finally a light drybrush of white on carefully chosen areas. Here we go: Group shot Seamus Sybelle Belles Gunslinger
  5. Nice work. Tentacles looks good, and the skin is excellent. I will follow this with great interest.
  6. Okay, thanks for the feedback. I guess I will take my chances then and use them like I have built them. Copy all you want, just post a pic. *wink*
  7. Been looking through your work and I have to say I am really liking everything. Chompy in particular is very cool.
  8. Really liking your Marshals, looking forward to seeing the rest painted as well.
  9. Yeah you should definately try out doing some bases with cork, its very simple and yet it looks good I think. For the ice pillars I just chopped up some sheets of extruded polystyrene insulation and cut the pieces to crystal shapes. The material looks like this: ---------- Post added at 07:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:01 PM ---------- Thank you! Thanks! I am really interested in what people have to say about using Snow as a second Silent one, because if people don't think its okay I will go back and put them on the same base again. I was hoping it would be okay because I don't want two models looking the same so it would spare me plenty of conversion work for building the second Silent one. Also I think it looks a little crowed with those to models on the same base. But I will go with what people say, so I would be happy to hear your thoughts (?).
  10. So I have some newly paitned stuff for you to look at. Here we go: December Acolyte Silent One And a little teaser of what is coming. A Snow storm, and I am planning to use Snow as a second Silent One...: ---------- Post added at 03:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:24 PM ---------- Pic of the Silent One seemed a little small so I threw together a new one:
  11. Excellent looking crew, great job!
  12. So these two are next: Anyone know if there is any particular reason for the Silent one to be bigger than the Acolyte? If you compare the lenght of their arms etc, the silent one seem a lot bigger...
  13. Thank you everyone! On the Essence of Power I wanted it to be a little higher elevated when standing next to Raspy (like in the pic below...). Also the idea was to make it look like it was lifelessly floating in the air.
  14. I just went through this thread and can only say that painting is top notch and sculpting is beyond awsome. To sum it up:
  15. Loving the muted colours on Molly, very cool!
  16. Thank you, both! Basing is quite simple. Rocks är made from cork. Then tufts from the army painter. The snow is made from woodland scenics snow, PVA glue and some white paint. As a swede I use these as my supply for cork: Bought at Ikea for almost nothing...
  17. Hello! Just thought I would share some pics of my Raspy starter plus EoP. Pics aren't the best because my patience is lacking and day light is rare these times a year in Sweden. Anyway, here you go: Rasputina Essence of Power Ice Golem Ice Gamins Ice Pillars (I have made eight in total...) Next up is a December Acolyte and a Silent one!
  18. Loving the limited palette of colours. Great looking crew!
  19. I have played Pirates Cove quite a few times, and enjoyed it. And I have to say that custom board is one excellent piece of work. It looks great.
  20. Okay, thanks! I think I will make it four sets, just in case.
  21. Hi! I have recently fallen in love with this game and picked up the Perdita and Rasputina boxes to start playing the game. I have painted both crews up and now I have started to work on some terrain/markers. So a quick question, how many ice pillar markers do I need to build for Rasputina?
