  1. My pledge for March, the Obliteration keyword. Starting with this batch of minis.
  2. @Shock & Awe - really nice work on the Knight and the OSL looks legit, seems like you identified the areas impacted by extra light quite well. And bloody good job on the "cupid" too Superbly clean job on the alt Pandora too! @Strangely Brown - I really like the light tones. You've used them consistently so they look great as part of the same force but they also maintain individuality with excellent outstanding details. @JordiFort - some of my favorite minis from Wyrd Lovely saturated colors and superb, clean paintjobs. @Hawkoon - just when you thought a creepy kid holding her own head couldn't get any creepier Really well done with balancing two different focal points, consistent top-notch quality on the composition and effective use of blood splatter - not overdoing it, just the right amount (which is an achievement on such small model) @Spitfire - impressive scope of work and great progress on everything, both quantity and quality on top level. Mr cooper looks just stunning! @Boomstick - very impressed with the vibrant colors and composition @Diddick - gory and brutal work but worth stressing - amazing from technical standpoint @Brushgit - this was my favorite entry in the category Wonderful work with colors and the blood effect is spot on - not overdone and well balanced. @Stranglelove - such creative use of Wyrd classics The vibrancy of Bete's red against the light browns really makes it pop. @TimH - excellent work with integrating red fins into pale blue colors on the body @feagaur - lovely work on the green flames @Maciej - the river terrain pieces look amazing - and those small additions make them look just wonderful. Tanuki look great too with some lovely detailing on the vases. @Gheist - really solid work all around, Kenshiro is my favorite here - excellent work blending these two colors together. @wobbly_goggy - lovely work on this tiny lady. If I may suggest something, it would be to make the skull ornament on the hat a bit dirty - e.g. a glaze of light brown would help better integrate it into the composition I think. @Kogan Style - amazing work on this trio, the paintjob is spot-on! @LinenMusician - again, impressive scope of work, and even more impressive quality on everything - I like the grittiness. The white is not crystal clear, some brown in it, makes it look more realistic @Caedrus - lovely work on the flames and the head swap works so well! @muraki - wow, very impressed with how much detail you were able to lock into one 50 mm base! @OctaBit - very impressive work on the skin tones! @Cats Laughing- haven't seen these minis in a while, the stripes are spot on As for my pledge, the total for February is: 110 soulstones
  3. Wow, quite a lot has happened here since I last checked in. @Hobby Wyrd - that is an impressive model and a bold pledge. Fingers crossed @Brushgit - you blow my mind with each pic you post. Such an elegant balance of pastel-like hues, technically flawless and regardless of what you paint (construct / human / Gremlin), it always looks amazing. The subtle shifts of colors on Big Brain - just incredible. @wobbly_goggy - lovely shade of pink on the costume and it goes very well with dark green, fire Gamins look neat too - are those the old metal sculpts? @OctaBit - nice work on the skin tone, this is creepily close enough to making it look very close between skin/towel @Gheist - Jessie looks very good and the OSL adds a lot of dynamism. Once thing I'd advise is to go easy with OSL, use much thinner layers and ideally start with osmething like Vallejo Game Color Fluo Yellow - easy to apply and can't really go wrong with it. Bold extreme highlights on Desper - not the style I personally like but done consequently across the whole model, makes it look pretty cool @TimH - more of the great, realistic-looking stuff, those Egg clusters are creepy! Karkinoi look very nice too! @JordiFort - absolutely stunning work on the Surveyor @Moinetbeard - lovely base with water effect and Koi, makes it look like a diorama actually. Colors on Izamu look dark and muted and the overall composition is very nice though hard to say much more with fairly small picture you've uploaded @LinenMusician - not a big fan of M3E version of Raspy though the colors are nicely laid out The Wendigo on the other hand is some serious creepy stuff of horrors As for the paints - I use pretty much everything with ~250 different pots on and under my workspace. Recently I've been rocking AK47 Interactive paints as they strike the perfect balance for me with consistency, covering properties, and excellent dropper bottles. Now, for my February pledge... First of all, complete Toil and Trouble set: I also made what is probably my most ambitious conversion with Kurgan and titled Zoraida (previewing them here first before they hit Instagram ) Just to give you a good idea of what kind of work went into this, here are pre-painting shots: So, currently looking at 66 soulstones for February. More to come for sure as I will start working on this Marcus the Barkus conversion later today during Wyrd painting stream ( to be found here: https://www.twitch.tv/playwyrd ) at 21:00 CET / 15:00 EST As always, more pictures to be found on my IG account here https://www.instagram.com/what.the.faux/
  4. I'll start February with work during painting stream later tonight (9 pm CET / 3 PM EST) and I'll be finishing the BEdeviled Kettle, potentially starting on Prince Toaden and Alt Mama Z. I have some ambitious plans for other minis this month but a lot depends on the international shipping. As always, looking forward to what everyone comes up with and reading your paint recommendations.
  5. @feagaur - lovely work on the green flames @WouterR - one of the (few) advantages of quarantine is the extra time you get, fingers crossed for solid progress here! @Maciej - looking even better with more details / highlights and static grass. @Hobby Wyrd - nice colors, only the base left now, and fingers crosses you continue to stay in the challenge @Stranglelove - really like how organic these look, clearly some inspiration in some natural species @Kogan Style - excellent work on the crew and I'm sure you'll lose some friends once they hit the table @Gheist - very nice, clean paintjobs with excellent work on texture on horses - turned out great! @wobbly_goggy - I'd probably push for some more vivid colors but then these muted shades look great too! @Hawkoon - these look mean! Excellent work @Fairyteller - dark and gritty, I like them a lot! @Diddick - really like the dark color scheme, they look straight outta old horror movie, great job! @LinenMusician - nice balance between quality and quantity here, can't wait to what you show next month. @Magnus - pale bright colors work really well here @Brushgit - your works are always a joy to see and Whiskey Golem is no exception. Absolutely top-notch stuff! @Cats Laughing - solid work here, maybe you could consider applying another layer of wash/glaze to reinforce the colors but looks really good already! @Strangely Brown - very nice, smooth highlights and really clean paintjob @Ghulaf5420 - looking at your works makes me really want to paint the Botanist, you've done him justice with excellent brushwork. @Boomstick - great work on the water / magic effect Well, I did manage to get above 100 soulstones with these two lovely dancing ladies for Mama Z 2. I finished them last night so a total of 102 soulstones in January
  6. I'd say start with some washes in the recesses, just targeting deepest folds and then bring back base/final highlight color on the raised areas. Start with one section, e.g. gloves, get a feel for it, see if you enjoy the process and if yes carry over to other elements. At the end of the day you should be having fun - your mini already looks very good, now it's a matter of how much more you want to put into it while still enjoying the process
  7. https://m.twitch.tv/playwyrd I’m streaming on Tuesday 9 pm CET but there are streams from Wyrd Painters Monday through Thursday during the week.
  8. @Brushgit - NMM on the Gamins is just stunning as do the other two minis you've shown @OctaBit - well done, those are definitely easily distinguishable. The paintjob on Basse is clean and crisp. I'd suggest working a bit more on shadows. Some well placed darker colors (e.g. in the material creases, gloves etc. could add it more depth. @TimH - really like the color scheme, the Horomatangi looks impressive and the full army painted to such standard will look amazing. @Strangely Brown - both models look very good. I'd consider adding some static grass to their bases to slightly break the uniformity there. @wobbly_goggy - looks neat! I'd also consider adding some more lively touches , e.g. bright green tufts of static grass to the base or highlighting the water to more vivid shade of green. @Maciej - love the color choices for the Lamplighters, haven't seen them painted in these shades of yellows/browns before so look forward to seeing the final effect. @Shock & Awe - I like the approach you've taken here. These pastel shades are used coherently and go well with the "ghostly" feel of the minis. And the orange one pops out nicely I've done some more painting to add to my 30 soulstones. 94 soulstones at this point and I'll make sure to go above 100 this Tuesday on another Wyrd stream
  9. Starting 2022 with some FIRE! 30 soulstones and definitely more to come later in the month @Brushgit- I love the realistic approach to painting clothes, the Ronin looks amazing and so does the Dino! @Gheist - this just shows that you can't go wrong with color choices while painting the Dino, the vivid shades of green and touches of blue work so well with the bright horns/spikes @OctaBit - good start on Basse, you could try painting the shin guards light silver and then glazing with light brown. @TimH - I like the cold color of body, works so well against warm shades on the base
  10. I painted it during a stream for Wyrd so it should be somewhere on their twitch/youtube channels I reckon? 18 soulstones - these two I painted at the end of 2021 only needed for the resin to dry before I oculd take pics and forgot to post them earlier That means I finished the month of December with a total of 43 soulstones
  11. I'm definitely in and going for Tyrant pledge in 2021. Thanks for keeping it going and see in in a January thread I already have some models I plan to be working on in 2022
  12. 25 soulstones for December with these two lovely miniatures:
  13. @Caedrus - thank you so much for hosting these, fantastic work all around and the extra challenge you've added was a great touch! @Shock & Awe - would be great if you could carry the painting torch in 2022 For December - I will be definitely painting some of the titles masters during painting streams. Will squeeze in some more stuff most likely but to get started, here are some pics of the new box that Wyrd has sent to me for next streams - sharing pictures here with you guys first
  14. so, 62 soulstones + 24 soulstones worth of Nephilim, bringing me to a total of 86 for the month of November. Forgot to post earlier Now that I think of it, I would be meeting the challenge requirements if I coulnted the Moorwraiths - painted these three over the course of one longer evening @Caedrus - yes, this was a mix of standard blending and stippling techniques. Rwallt like the Grootlang, makes me think of some iconic images with King Kong @Shock & Awe - super nice and clean paintjobs @Boomstick - nice and coherent look for these, well done! @Magnus - this pale skin tone looks great on the potato guy! @Gheist - great work all around but those plants look alive ! @Diddick - the Drowned look just perfect, really like the mix of smooth highlights and great color choices
  15. 62 soulstones with the addition of Lamplighters and Moorwraiths and I still need to finish that Nekima I started in a stream two weeks ago... As a bonus, here's a link to a short vid with all my recent works from the ES faction https://www.instagram.com/reel/CWv7tP2jXSe/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet
  16. Some more Explorers, Archivist and Spelleaters complete for 29 soulstones, more to come!
  17. Now that is a big challenge you've put there... Not sure I'll get it but anyway, this is the start for November
  18. 108 soulstones, no more coming this month I think More pics on my IG profile https://www.instagram.com/what.the.faux/
  19. 3x sweet little creepy kiddos for a total of 89 soulstones and the month isn't over yet
  20. Two more Intrepid Effigies (8 soulstoens) and Grave Goo (7ss) that bring me to a total of 65 soulstones this month. May squeeze in some more For some reason my iPhone really struggled taking decent picture of this mini on the standard backdrop I use. Next in line for painting:
  21. 50soulstones, keeping up a good pace this month. I also think that this pretty much covers the unexpected challenge as I have never painted granite-like texture before.
  22. And 10 more for a grand total of 40 soulstones (more to come!). Love this model!
  23. 30 soulstones to start the month of October, hoping to do much more this month
  24. Something to get me started in October. Will need to think how to make any unexpected things here
