  1. I would just like to mention for those that don't already know it, Nicodem is a monster. Just played a game against him using the Ortegas. I killed most of the Resser models each turn. Nico responded to this by putting them all back. In engagement range. Without slow. With plus flips. And healing them. He is awesome. **Edit: And he didn't just put back the same ones. He put back better ones. By the end of the game it was like he had played a 70+ SS game to my 50SS.
  2. Ooooh, This is kind of exciting. I thought I was going to have a board with lots of open spaces but it's sounding like I can do a Victorian city instead. Though that makes my job a whole ton harder. Also, Linus and Tuttleboy, good catch on Redchapel being one word.
  3. Hey folks. I'm looking to build a series of permanent homes for my Ressers and have settled on a 3'x3' modular board. Fluff-wise I'm particularly partial to Seamus and so I'm leaning toward making the Red Chapel Gang a home first. First step is to figure out my theme for said home and for that I've come to you. What does Red Chapel look like? Is it a small village? A train stop? Near a mine? I know there is a Red Chapel...or is there? Is it the name of a seedy bar in one of the slums bordering the Quarantine Zone? Or is it the name of a slum (possibly where the Belles used to ply their trade)?
  4. Those are pretty boss! I may have to make some myself.
  5. This. I am not a henchie but I do recognize the excellent standard that has been set. Thank you both for your community building work, it has been a boon to all of us. I hope that in spite of your current thoughts on 2.0 and those involved in developing it you are able to come back to this community with the enthusiasm and passion that was so infectious in 1.5. If you can't we (well, I guess some of us) understand and wish you the best.
  6. Thanks Sonova. I got most of those models put together yesterday and will be speed painting today and tomorrow. I have Perdita, Sonnia and LadyJ already painted. Would it be reasonable to take McCabe with the models Sonova listed and then just swap in one of the Guild Ladies? Or are McCabes crews too specific to himself?
  7. I've been thinking about this a lot recently. You can pretty much guarantee that Collette will get 4 points because few masters can slow her crew down enough to prevent her from achieving her schemes. This means you need to score 5 points minimum while keeping her from scoring her strategy. One of the best ways to so this is by build to be resilient enough that if she attacks you she has to spend a lot of ap trying to kill you. Ashigaru are fantastic because they cannot be killed by anyone in her crew in less then two AP (except by the Red Joker). Yin is also very survivable, as are Tosh and Izamu. Chiaki will probably just get killed. Punk Zombies and Belles are also great because any time you can force a ton of duels you deplete Collettes resources and she needs a LOT of SS an cards to do her thing. As has been mentioned, paralyze is your best friend. If Collette can't activate she does fast. I'd try Misaki against her and focus on killing Cassandra and the other performers.
  8. What about, instead of a bone pile, we get a giant tap dancing skeleton named Mr Bojangles who turns models into mindless (dancing) zombies? But in all seriousness, I'd love to see Seamus and Molly get some love and Kirai have a wider selection of models to choose from.
  9. Awesome! It should be a really fun time.
  10. I do, as Yan Lo dies way too fast otherwise (I put three points in Ash for the def boost).
  11. So, I may have gone overboard (like normal). I got: Perdita McCabe Sonia LadyJ Judge Death Marshall 3x Stalkers Hopkins 3x Riflemen Austringer Niño Santiago Papa Loco Francisco Executioner Abuela 3x Wastrels Sidir Luna Sue Watcher Guardian If I had to pick one master to build and paint and play on Sat, who would you recommend and what models would you build/paint to go with them?
  12. Nico is slow, but he does have ways of getting around. Dead Rider and Belles for example. In my experience, there is too much variability in the players and Metas to declare things broken willy-nilly. Plus, contrary to what seems to be prevailing opinion, the Internet is often wrong.
  13. Finally got the game in vs Collette as Nico. Ressurectionists Crew - 35 - Scrap Nicodem, The Undertaker -- 4 Pool Grave Spirit [1ss] Ashigaru [4ss] Ashigaru [4ss] Izamu, the Armor [10ss] Rotten Belles [4ss] Rotten Belles [4ss] Wong [7ss] VS Arcanists Crew - 35 - Scrap Colette Du Bois -- 5 Pool + Colette, Avatar of Deception [2ss] 1 Mechanical Dove [2ss] Cassandra, Magician's Apprentice [9ss] Coryphée [7ss] Coryphée [7ss] Performer & Mannequin [6ss] Master of the Hill: Nico (Bodyguard and Assassinate) Collette (Bodyguard and Stake a Claim) It's super late so I'm just going to give a basic rundown of the turns. I moved up turn one and he tried to use Cassandra + Doves (summoned) to Blast my team but Wong is a champ and said no. Turn two he tried to use Cassandra again but Wong was still the boss and he ended up not doing anything. Nico then paralyzed the Duet and I moved up onto the hill (getting a point). Turn three he companions everyone and tries his best to kill me. Some bad flips for him and a great hand for me meant a dead Wong and wounds on everything else. Nico then paralyzes Collette (who is out of stones) to remove Reactivate and then paralyzes again at which point the game was pretty much over and clean up commenced. Score one for Ressers. Huge thanks to everyone for thoughts and strategies. When I know what our next Strategy is I'll post it. I think I'm going to try (strat permitting) Kirai next.
  14. Spirzamu is fun, no doubt, but he still dies to lots of pings. The reason for takin the SS would be to have ping immunity. Vic's are def. on the "Don't field against" list. Any other masters that should be on that list? I'm think Misaki and Raspi probably make it too.
  15. Which means Obey is one of the few ways to move him.
  16. Great write ups! Glad to see Nico being the boss we all know he is!
  17. The next time I play Kirai I am planning on bringing the Strongarm Suit along. Turning the Suit into a spirit via Lost Love means that, due to Enhanced Armor, if it is dealt 1-4 DMG it takes 0, 5-7 DMG it takes 1, 8-9 DMG it takes 2, etc.... This ability is ignored by attacks that ignore armor and spirit. Can the Suits survivability be improved beyond this?
  18. This. In the current edition of Malifaux it is very easy to make the game a drag for people who are not as competitive or as knowledgable as you. Playing the game in a way your opponents enjoy is worthwhile as it ensures you a group of dedicated opponents. It is also great for becoming better at the game since winning with the underpowered models takes more skill then winning with the overpowered models.
  19. Hey folks, I have a tournament coming up and I was wondering if you could help me out with something. I recently got and painted the Sonia box set and was considering picking up McCabe's box + a box of Riflemen. If I wanted to have a reasonable tourney pool for the tournament coming up on Sat, what else do I need to get? I'd stck with those two masters, but what minions would make my life easier? I've never played Guild before but it should be fun
  20. Seamus is pretty fun, but is not currently competitive. Hopefully we will not have too much longer before we know how he shapes up in the new edition (open Beta starts at the end of the month, right?) McMorning is great but has relatively low synergy with the other Resser models. Not that he needs it. McM can rip through just about anyone with ease. Go for him if you're looking for a "Elite" play style. Nico is one of my two favorite masters in the whole game. He has fantastic synergy with just about everyone undead and his paralyze is worth his weight in gold. The new TT models, Izamu, Toshiro, Ashigaru and Yin, become over-the-top good with him (Yin with Df8 is a beauti...uh...amazing thing).
  21. I second the advice on the Lost Love. Recently I've been running without Gaki or Onryo and bringing Night Terrors instead. They make positioning cake.
  22. I rarely have more then 5 corpse counters. I use tokens for bodyparts. The most I've had is eleven.
  23. Game 1: Master of the Hill Nico Grave Spirit Izamu Ashigaru 2x Rotten Belle Wong Collette Cassandra Performer/Manniquin 2x Coryphee Oyran Terrain will normal, though without much area terrain. Thoughts on target priority and scheme selection?
  24. Thanks for the ideas! Some great thoughts here. Keep 'em coming!
