  1. That is great to hear! Lots of unique entries in there, definitely something for everyone! Good luck to all
  2. When the young boy known as The Dreamer falls asleep, he fuels his dreams on the nightmares of others, twisting reality itself in Malifaux. Most of the time, there are plenty of victims around for The Dreamer to taunt and play "games" with, however, sometimes in his boredom for lack of other playmates, The Dreamer sets his mind on the very Nightmares that surround him! Today is one such day, and The Dreamer has revealed evidence of a most sinister nature -- the darkest fears of the twisted minds of the Nightmares themselves. Now, the Nightmares must aid each other to DESTROY THE EVIDENCE! Nytmare "Lord Chompy Bits" fears no foe, or wildly creature. His quest for endless life and ultimate power brought him to the Dreamer, an anonymous boy from the Earth side. Nytmare's fear is that someone will discover the boy's identity on Earth, beyond Lord Chompy Bits' reach. No sooner had he thunk the thought, when The Dreamer twisted a Malifaux lamp into a street sign from his home on Earth, complete with the rat the boy had seen that morning. Nytmare scowled at himself for fearing anything, and tore forwards to destroy this evidence before it could fall into enemy hands. After toiling so hard to pull fear out of Lord Chompy bits, The Dreamer's thought turned inwards. Suddenly, he thought of his parents basement, and the menacing cellar door that gave off an eerie glow and strange sounds. The boy imagined a terrible vortex beyond the door, and no sooner did he shiver at the thought, then his worst fear from the Earth world became realized! The Dreamer commands his minions to destroy all traces of this abomination. The Dreamer could not help but giggle at Coppelius, when he realized that his fear was simply revealing his stash of stolen eyeballs, "what a silly creature," he thought to himself, paying no attention to the clothing hung on the branch of the tree above. With a slurpy "HISSSS" Coppelius surged toward the evidence with maddened haste... "What has gotten into him!" Laughed the Dreamer. Try as he might, the Dreamer could not get a single fear out of his friend Teddy! "This is no fun at all" frowned the boy. Then he got an idea, a wonderful, awful idea... In front of Teddy appeared a stuffed bear, smaller than himself but of some likeness. Without warning, the head of the newly created Teddy tore off, sending stuffing into the air. The arm of what looked like an enormous Chompy had torn off the head of the poor bear and was making unmentionable sounds in an effort to devour the Teddy from within. Needless to say, the Dreamer had created a terrifying notion for ol' Teddy, who set his mind on destroying the evidence that he ever feared anything at all, before others find out, possibly causing him to lose his ability to Terrorize others! The Dreamer and his Nightmares must now work together to rid Malifaux of all evidence of their fears and deep dark secrets, before they are found and used against them. ((Proof Shot!))
  3. You are SO right... I will have to get on that! I appreciate the tip off! Exactly!
  4. Really nice crew! I enjoy your painting style very much. I think my only suggestion would be a bit of "rust" around the spider bolts, easily achieved with a brown wash strategically painted in a circle around each bolt, and a small rust run-off line below! But that's just flavour, its all up to you're taste
  5. Hello all, thanks for stopping by. I have read through both the tactica, and the online rulebook several times now, and I am starting to get a grasp on things, but wanted some input from the great community here on the forums. Originally I intended my first crew to be: Dreamer/LCB - Cache 6 Daydream Daydream Daydream Coppelius Stitched Stitched Teddy I have already ordered the Bad Dreams starter box, plus Teddy, and have made 3 custom Daydreams models (see my sig). However, given all the extra time I have while waiting these past 3 weeks for my order to arrive (ugh), I have also managed to sculpt an Insidious madness model, and it got me thinking as to whether I should retool my first crew list or not. At this point I have very little interest in the Lu Lu Lemon twins, but any other nightmares are fair game. Should I drop a Daydream and pick up an Alp, or are they only good when in numbers that become "cheesy"? Should I drop a stitched and pick up a madness? All suggestions are welcome, and explanations would be very helpful!
  6. That would be sweeeeeeet. Although I gotta say, some of the Terraclix stuff would work well for this purpose!
  7. Now THAT is a battle report. Good read, good fun! Cheers
  8. Coming from a newbie to the game, I can see this Malifaux thing soaring to new heights, as its very reasonably priced, the miniatures look fantastic, and there seems to be a crew that suits just about everyone! Gencon and the sweet releases help too I imagine. I cannot wait to get my hands on a Nightmare Teddy! If only I had been around earlier to get the Nightmare LCB/Dreamer
  9. Really great looking board! Would be a blast to play games on. If you do, take some pics and make u a battle report, won't you?
  10. People can correct me if I am wrong, but I do believe that once correctly based, these WILL in fact be tournament legal. In reading the rules for tournaments, I remember a clear distinction, whereby proxy models are NOT allowed but conversions ARE, provided they use Wyrd-manufactured parts and original sculpt. I believe that you are even allowed to use up to 33% of bits from other ranges. My models are 99% green stuff, 1% paperclip, so along with official Malifaux stat cards, I am reasonably sure they are tournament legal. Appreciate all the replies guys, the feedback is a huge motivation for me! Edit: Source: Gaining Ground Document 2011, pages 2-3 under "Proxy Rules" and "Conversion Rules"
  11. Thank you guys, since I have been waiting for 3 weeks now for my crew to arrive, I needed these to keep me pumped up for Malifaux. Since my crew is still out in shipping la-la land, my next project is a custom sculpt of the Insidious Madness!
  12. He was definitely the trickiest one to keep from seeing the back of, being round, but I think the fade to grey worked out well, and it still looks enough like a snowman This is why the community is so great, feedback 60 seconds after I post! Crazy (but good). Cheers
  13. Hey guys, new to the forums here, but really pumped about Malifaux. Seems like a great game and community. Just thought I would stop in and post some images of my painted (but not yet based, bc they are still on order) Daydreams. The idea behind these models was a MULLET theme. Business in the front, party in the back. Well, Daydreams in the front, Nightmares in the back, but you get the idea. If you are interested in the concept sketches/green stuff progress, check out MY BLOG. Without further adieu, I give you my custom Daydreams... Teddy Bear Daemon: Jack-in-the-Box King Cobra: The Snowman Halloween Heads: All three Daydreams together: Comments are welcome!
  14. Firstly, I want to thank Lord Shaper for hosting this contest! I love painting and conversion competitions, but the fact that you are putting up prizes is over the top, so thank you very much for doing that. Really really new to Malifaux, but I think the game is very interesting, and I love the fact that the community is involved and active. I was already interested in creating tokens and markers for Malifaux (while I am waiting for my crew order to arrive, which is taking forever) so this is just the Malifaux fix I needed! Anyhow I just found this thread, and am really excited, so I am going to try and get my entry in by the (new) deadline. Lots of people have some really cool ideas, so I am going to have to put on my thinking cap for some original and creative ideas. Best of luck to everyone who enters!
  15. Yes, I have read this, and I looked for it in their release schedule for the next few months. It is a superb idea! I just hope it soon becomes a higher priority. I am just frustrated, but I do feel a lot better having vented. I think the company as a whole is fantastic, and I still want to (and will) support the hobby. I appreciate the even-tempered replies guys
  16. I need to say first that I really enjoy the world of Malifaux, and in many respects, Wyrd is doing things absolutely right. However, the stat card issue is completely BOGUS. $10 to ship to Canada... PAPER mind you... Idea: Stick it in a conventional envelope, throw a stamp on it, and overcharge $3! Why the heck would I pay $11.50 for 3 dreamer stat cards, when I can BUY the whole box for $2 more on ebay, or a couple more at a local shop. Also, if a separate shipping method is too much to handle, why not make these available to distributors? My local hobby shop has multiple Malifaux distributors, and despite his best efforts cannot get ahold of stat cards for me. I understand business operations, yada yada yada... but let's get reasonable here. You want to ENCOURAGE hobbyists not DISCOURAGE them as you are right now. Malifaux still allows scratch built models in tournament play, but does not provide reasonable methods of Stat Card purchase. This IS a flaw, and needs to be addressed, as it flies in the face of everything I had thought Malifaux stood for. I want to be able to: -Support my local gaming store (and by extension Wyrd) -Convert/Sculpt my own models where I find the sold product missing/lacking, or find an abundance of creativity -and, omg omg omg PLAY with the crew I worked so hard on. Dear Wyrd: Please change this horrible policy of flat shipping including the stat cards, and/or make them available to distributors to sell to us. I will send you a self addressed stamped envelope if that's what it takes. ANY reasonable policy, please. /endvent
