  1. I'm in favour of every one of these updates and changes except for one. Misaki needs LoS to Diving Charge. So she can't dive over a 40mm based model? Like Gupps, or Hoarcats? Doesnt feel quite as athletic any more!
  2. I feel like with the changes, I'm no longer going to be inclined to spend a Soulstone on my defense to trigger the Nexus effect. It's going to feel more like a side-benefit, on top of the defensive suit or defensive +flip that I actually wanted. Henchmen with defensive triggers could definitely still get some mileage out of it, and even Masters with defensive triggers that they might think about Soulstoning for (Lilith, Zoraida and Lynch all have them) might consider sitting an Enforcer with this upgrade nearby to get the side benefit. Conclusions: Nice to include if I have a Soulstone and upgrade slot spare, but no longer something I'm going to build a crew around. Rightly so.
  3. Because Dreamers latest iteration has "Pleasant Dreams", so they don't stay on 1Wd for very long. Just don't summon then in a vulnerable position
  4. Surprised to not see this posted anywhere yet.... http://www.malifaux.com/M2eReleases.php
  5. Yea I'm not too concerned about IP issues since I'm basically selling a conversion, which people do all the time. If I was to cast him up and start production that'd be a different matter. I'm not under any illusions that Wyrd would want to pay me for him though - he's only my first model so he's a little rough around the edges.
  6. Hi all, I've been practising my sculpting the last few weeks, and knocked together this guy. He uses the Nightmare Teddy head (because I'm not yet good enough to sculpt half decent heads), but the rest of him is solid greenstuff on an armature. I wanted to go for something a little more dynamic than the current Wyrd models, and in my opinion he's at least as good a sculpt as the original Teddy model. I should really have included another model for scale, but that's a 50mm base he's standing on. I wanted to try and gauge whether he was worth selling, or whether I should keep hold of him for myself, so the question is: What would you estimate his worth, as a one-of-a-kind sculpt? Thanks, Mike
  7. What he said. Note 1: You don't "use up" the original two crows that were needed in the casting of Reanimator. They're still there to initiate the Patchwork trigger Note 2: A trigger has to trigger off a suit, so the crow is needed otherwise the entire trigger mechanic gets messy.
  8. Any of the new boxes for M2E will come with M2E cards included, as well as upgrades. If you buy one of the older metal boxes then it will currently come with older stat cards that are not compatible. You would then have to buy an Arsenal deck to go with it, which has all the Wave 1 cards for the faction (and is the only way to get hold of the "generic" faction upgrade cards too). Ten Thunders is one of the 7 factions in the game, but many Ten Thunders masters have a rule called "Dual Faction". This means before the game starts you can choose them to be one of the factions (eg. Ten Thunders or Neverborn for Jakob Lynch), and then you have to select all the models in your crew from that faction. It gives some extra flexibility to some Masters in their hiring, and represents that the Ten Thunders are an organisation that has infiltrated their agents into the other factions. Edit: Note that the Ten Thunders boxes, even though they are plastic, will currently usually include 1st Edition stat cards. There are some boxes out there with a sticker on the front that says they have M2E cards, but generally unless you buy one of the brand new (Lady J, Seamus, Lilith, Rasputina, Viktorias) plastic sets, you will need an Arsenal deck as well. We don't yet know which masters from Wave 1 will get a new box yet, but we are all hoping for an announcement from Wyrd soon....
  9. We can presume Zoraida and Von Schill with be later in Wave1. Their art wasn't ready to include in the Rulebook. If it's anything to go by too, Marcus and Pandora's full crew artwork was floating around relatively early, so they *could* be further along than Ramos and Zoraida for that reason. There was also a plastic Witchling Stalker complete a while ago, suggesting maybe Sonnia before Perdita. Perdita's art changed between beta and book, which supports that assumption. Rezzer and Gremlins could come in any order, although if I remember correctly the Brewmaster's crew art didn't get revealed until mid-beta. Whether this was because they decided to keep him back as a surprise, or whether he's further behind in readiness than Somer and Ophelia is unknown. On a similar note, isn't Somer's art in the book an old piece too? All of these could be useful clues...
  10. Easy to miss, I've played Distract before and I'm only just learning today that you don't have to reapply the condition each turn
  11. Wyrd can choose to make only plastic models for whatever reason takes their fancy, and I'm sure as part of that decision they've taken account of the fact that some customers don't like plastics. Wyrd like plastics, so the decision has been made. Your last sentence suggests you think that people who want metals, deserve metals - like it's some kind of entitlement and Wyrd are obliged to listen and act.
  12. Currently equally likely as hitting the model you aimed at
  13. . Likewise, the provision that LOS and range can be dismissed is *required* to allow models on the furthest edge of the melee to get hit, even if they're just out of the reach of the shooter, or LOS is blocked by models in between. It's VERY possible, *even with the current wording*, that the blocking terrain example in the OP's case was overlooked.
  14. I'm not wilfully ignoring anything. The very *definition* of RAI vs RAW is that sometimes the way a rule is written isn't what is actually intended. So your arguing that it is written a particular way, and providing a quote, and then saying the quote backs up that the *intention* is a particular way, is completely missing the distinction between RAW/RAI. RAW, I agree. What would be clunky, exactly, about only randomising for models that are within 2" and engaged?
  15. The intent could have quite easily have been to simulate models standing close to a melee catching a stray bullet (fluffy). I maintain that it's very possible that the blocking terrain/out of melee case here has gotten caught up accidentally in wording the rules the way they have been. You'll have to show me where the *intent* is specifically told, because I'm pretty sure it isn't. And of course it could change. If the rule isn't working as intended, Justin has already announced there's a FAQ /errata being released in the near future.
  16. We don't dislike it because it's different. We dislike it because you're now *equally likely* to hit a model on the opposite side of a 10 foot wall that isn't even aware that a melee is taking place, as you are to hit the target in melee right in front of you. You're sure that's the intent? I *like* that a long melee reach doesn't protect you from shooting like it did in M1E. That's not under dispute. My issue is that at some point in writing the rules to allow you to target those 3" reach models, this bullet bending has crept in, and it's ludicrous.
  17. Thanks, I'd missed that later paragraph. It seems a shame to me that the first paragraph is quite clear as to the intent..... Note: According to this he doesn't run the risk of hitting models that aren't engaged in close quarters fighting. ..... but then says something completely different: How can a model not engaged in the melee get hit? If this is possible, why don't I randomise between two different enemy models that are stood within 2" of each other when I try to shoot one of them? Inconsistent. I've no idea why that sentence allowing out of engagement models to get hit is in the book. As you say though, the fact that it is in the book means that RAW is actually discernable, but very messy - I retract my previous answer and believe the current correct answer is Variant 1. It feels very Rules-lawyer-y and anti-M2E though.
  18. E and F aren't engaged with the target due to the Ht5 blocking wall, so you don't flip cards for them. I see where you're coming from though, since the subsequent paragraph doesn't specify the requirement for being engaged (it just says "each model within 2" of the target model"), but the requirement for being engaged is set-up in the previous (quoted) paragraph. Further weight that this is the correct way to play this, is that both of your variants don't make sense given the blocking terrain.
  19. Thanks everyone for contributing towards an excellent and successful event. Hope everyone enjoyed themselves. Full results table is below. I'll be back with more stats and a picture gallery in the near future.
  20. Ah sorry to hear that Nathan Last minute notes for everyone else: There's a car park on site with plenty of room. Take it steady coming up the hill to avoid your car falling into the same ditch as a certain former-York-Henchman's did on his visit to the club Remember to bring some food. There's 45 minutes in for lunch so not really time to go too far, but Sainsburies is a 5 minute drive away if you need it. See you all tomorrow! Mike
  21. Mercenary says "A crew may hire up to 2 Mercenary models from another faction than its own" By the logic Adran is applying, you couldn't hire 4 Mercenary Last Blossom minions anyway, even using Infiltration, because the Mercenary rule would kick in even though the Mercenary tax wasn't being paid, preventing you from hiring more than 2 Oiran. This is why I don't think the logic works. If you hire Oiran as Last Blossom, I believe you are not hiring them as Mercenaries, so the Mercenary tax (and the Mercenary "no more than 2" rule) does not kick in. Likewise, if you hire Oiran as Mercenaries, I believe their Last Blossom characteristic is irrelevant and they do not count towards the maximum limit for Infiltration.
  22. The Hanged have a special rule on their card which overrules this general rule.
  23. Maybe in 1.5.... In M2E, their self preservation circuits appears to result in total CPU reboot. Not something I'd include if I was designing constructs. ---------- Post added at 02:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:05 PM ---------- Worth mentioning too that many constructs in Malifaux are powered by Soulstone dust. It's very possible that a supernatural Terrifying effect could temporarily interfere with their power source.
