  1. Personally I don't think Candy or Kade offer you much direct synergy if you are going with a Dreamer Crew. If you are planning on stayin with the Neverborn faction as a whole, I'd keep them. If you are planning on just sticking with the Dreamer I'd ditch them. Either way I'd say you'd want at least one set of the twins. Past that I'm not sure if you'd need anything else really. If you want competitive additional options you could grab 3-6 Alps and an insidious madness or two.
  2. Just to toss it into the mix, would the format the tournament is being run in benefit from examination in the discussions on this topic. I've been running a 5 week league over the course of the summer, but I've been running it as a accumulation style format, which initially I didn't think I'd care for, but have been very surprised at how much I've enjoyed it. It has forced the players into trying to think about how to play even more tactically because winning a game 3-1 doesn't really help you very much in the long run. The reason I bring this up is that even Masters that it seems the community at large regards as very strong can be brought more into line in this format. It doesn't matter if the Dreamer wins every game he plays if he is only managing 4-2 or 3-1 victories. It really places a huge emphasis on completing as many of your schemes and strategies as you can, and denying your opponent theirs.
  3. Question regarding your point #3, Calmdown. How does copying whisper from beyond help you with causing dmg with Twisted Mind? Whisper from beyond is a Cast Vs. the opponent's Willpower, not Molly's, so you can't use twisted mind. Am I over looking something so simple I'll be embarrassed when you explain it to me?
  4. I think until at least her initial special forces are fleshed out the jury will have to remain out on her real effectiveness. I agree with Lobo, but until we see what other models are released for her I can't make up my mind. I think it's very similar to Molly, I love her fluff, the model is gorgeous, and I'm buying her even if she is terrible to play with. However looking at her in the state she is in now doesn't give a real effective glimpse of how she will work. For myself I'm hoping that there will be an ability among some of the Horror models to strip away any immunities to Terror, since most of her abilities seem to gear her towards being a Terror bomb. So Kaeris most likely will have some minion choices that help spread around the buring counters.
  5. Eric's. Just hope that he wears the strawberry flavored ones when it's your turn to clean them.
  6. I honestly cannot wait for Molly to be released in October. Hopefully I will once again have steady employment at that time so I can pick her up. Very very Impressed with the sculpt.
  7. You seem to like my painting style Mydnight. I can show you a couple techniques when I get back that might help.
  8. I play both, and both are really my only masters as I don't have any desire to really expand anything except options for them both. Seamus' style is much more straight forward. He is very fun to use, the only issue of which is that he only has a few models that he as a master has any direct synergy with. So when you play Seamus you, or at least I, mostly take Rotten Belles. You can mix in some Hanged, Onryo, or Bete Noir for flavor, but the best successes I've had are definitely the legion of Rotten Belles. Kirai is the Resser's Queen of tricks. She is also very fun to play, and of the two I do tend to play her more often. That being said she is much more complex to play than Seamus is. Seamus' crew only occasionally needs any particular suit, you are often more concerned with just having high cards. Depending on what your crew's makeup is with Kirai you are possibly going to be attempting to manage all the suits in the deck. Rams for healing with the lost love and Datsue-Ba, Crows for Kirai to summon the Ikiryo and for your Melee beat sticks to trigger Maul, Masks for Kirai to go into the Spirit World and Datsue-Ba to guide Spirits, and Tomes to trigger Malevolence from the Onryo and Poison from the Shikome. In addition you really need to understand how Kirai interacts with her spirits, especially her Seshin. If you are definitely going with Leveticus I'd recommend Seamus as you next Master. They will share much more overlap of minions than Kirai and Leveticus. However if the siren song of the Japanese spirits truly calls to you I think you will have great fun with Kirai.
  9. Finished painting a commission job today. An entire Lilith crew. Lilith, Nekima, 2 Mature, 2 Young, 3 Tots, and a Cherub.
  10. I have Seamus and Kirai as well. They both work very well to compliment each other. I will say that as much as I love Seamus I tend to enjoy Kirai's style a little more, and then comming back to play Seamus after playing Kirai is a real mind twist, "What, you mean I have to activate something I actually care about before you finish activating?"
  11. < Total Molly Fan. My heart fell when I found out Molly wasn't going to be at Gen Con this year. I was so certain... ahhh well.
  12. So is this her Avatar, or her alternate sculpt?
  13. I've found that if you are trying to kill Collodi you either need to devote a vast amount of resources to finishing the job (and on this note you need to finish the job if you go after him) or you need to ignore him. You can sort of slow down a bit if you kill a marionette or two, but as Kirai has no way to get rid of the scrap counter that will drop, Collodi will just bring it back. Part of the issue is that because of the dmg the spirits do and the fact that the marionettes are hard to wound it often take two swings to finish one off, and the marionettes have a decent Def of 5, as does Collodi, so even hitting isn't really certain. Add this to the fact that the Marionettes are surprisingly lethal, and if you're not prepared for what they can do it is shocking. If you decide to go for Collodi the first thing you need to do is pick your timing carefully, you're going to want to jump him ideally after he and his marionettes have ALL activated, and hopefully when some of the Marionettes are further than 6" away. You will also want to devote more resources to the strike than you might otherwise think. Figure that Collodi is really like killing a 16 SS cost model with the ability to use SS. I've sent in a Shikome, Datsue-Ba, and Two Gaki at one time against Collodi and saw him with strictly average flips on both sides fight everything off and come off losing permanently only 2 Marionettes. (Gaki ate the other 2) Collodi isn't impossible to kill, but the first time you attempt it it might be shocking on just how tough he is to take down.
  14. Well if one person has an avatar and the other doesn't you can either agree not to use the avatar on hand, or if you have an appropriate base on hand and the book let them proxy their avatar form. Sure they might not be as experienced with it but its something.
  15. I also have mixed feelings on the avatar miniatures. I love how interesting and cool certain avatars look, like Lady J and Pandora. However I can't even imagine trying to transport them around to use on the table. They are just asking to break, or if made of resin, shatter. Other Avatars like Seamus aren't as visually interesting as the previously mentioned avatars, but they look much easier to actually see use on the table.
  16. Your Onryo looks almost exactly like mine, just sub the red for green. I even did the same skin tone for all my spirits. Looking very good.
  17. With my Seamus crew I call the Belles by their colors, Red belle, Blue Belle, Green Belle. I feel Seamus wouldn't bother to remember their names unless there was something very unique about the individual, like Molly or Sybele. My Kirai crew are named in a Japanese style based on numbers. So there is Seishin Ichi, Seishin Ni, Seishin San, Seishin shi, and Seishin Roku. Same for all the gaki.
  18. Thanks guys. Don't own Jack Daw or I'd consider him. Yeah, I'm caught I just don't know which route to go. Basic crew will be: Lost Love Seishin (x 5) Past that I don't know whether it would be better to go Onryo (x2) Gaki (x4) or Hanged (x2) Datsue-Ba If I swarm I'm pretty certain I can keep away from him all game, and maybe achieve a few of my schemes, but I won't be able to fight him off of the dynamite markers. If I take the hanged I might be able to eventually shift him, but I won't be able to make certain none of his minions can deliver the message to Kirai. Thanks for the advice guys, gonna need to think on it some more.
  19. On strategy notes about Kirai, I agree that snowstorm looks much more viable now that they have 8 wounds. I'm not completely sold on the idea, but I'd give it a try. As a side note on Kirai, I'm facing a Dreamer player soon for a league match vs. Kirai and the fates were not kind in handing out strategies. Dreamer got Deliver a message and Kirai got Line in the sand. Any thoughts on what to bring to such a pairing?
  20. The problem with Bete in a Kirai crew isn't that she isn't a spirit. It is that in the game currently you cannot count on playing against living or undead models, or at least, models enough to possibly get multiple situations to bring Bete out. Generally, nothing in a Kirai crew can create the situation for Bete's popping out, and if the opponent doesn't bring a sizable number of living or undead you've basically wasted 9 SS on her. With the crews that are very popular right now you see a large number or constructs, nightmares, spirits, and other non-qualifying models. So even if you brought her out via the death of your desperate merc, and then made her a spirit, she's still a 4 wound model that will not be coming back into play as soon as she dies. I love the idea just like you, and I toyed with the idea of using her as well. However, until more actual living or undead models get used for other factions I tend to leave Bete at home.
  21. Ooo, if I don't have anything going on that day can I catch a ride with you Mydnight? If so I'm interested.
  22. I really like Pandora, I almost got her as a master so I share your interest. I just couldn't get her because I disagree with the design philosophy behind her. Which is sad because I love the creepy children and anything relating to Greek Mythology. Ahh well, even if the current avatar remains the same it is a beautiful sculpt, very dynamic. I might just pick it up to paint at some point.
  23. Not sure about this one lobo. They could break the pattern, but the new artwork in the rules manual has been the standard for alternate sculpts and Pandora is in there in the Moral section. Not saying that it means it is definite, but it does lend credence to the thought that the current avatar of Pandora will remain her avatar sculpt.
  24. Did you get any extra clamshells of Seishin? If not I'd recommend immediately buying at least one, but if you can afford it get two. If your regular opponents will let you proxy that will work too. I'd then steer you to the Kirai Tactica thread in the Resser forums. Ratty has also has some good advice for her. In general here are my suggestions: 1: Always keep 1-2 Seishin in B2B with Kirai at all times. 2: Use your other Seishin to scout out into the board. Keep them hidden in and behind terrain and use them as Jump points for Kirai's into the Spirit World. 3: Do your best to out activate your opponent before you use your important models early in the game. Dropping a summoned Ikiryo right next to your target when they can't do anything about it this round is priceless. 4: Try to keep Kirai safe from attack, but within 8" of your targeted kills if your target is living, undead, or spirit so you can replenish your Sacrificed Seishin. Good luck and welcome to Kirai!
