  1. I know, I was sad when I remembered the Sf restriction, not.all that useful now really....maybe in a pinch, but night terrors and g.hounds will be better...maybe the mist could still have uses, ill have to try them.
  2. If you have constructs and like that theme then levi can hire any construct in the game (undead as well), he has the biggest model selection in the game. Hamelin also has quite an impressive selection on models from across factions, but has very little overlap with your current crews. So, if you want to utilize you existing constructs and have and urge to buy more constructs and undead, go with Levi. If you want to do something completely different from your existing crews, then Hamelin is probably the better choice.
  3. I have this strange urge to play Marcus after I played against him in a recent tournament, even though I beat him. There's just something undeniably cool about him. This thread isn't making it any easier to maintain control over how many crews I have, haha....I'm slowly slipping towards Team Marcus. Also, a question. How many of those models.are standard use in your Marcus lists, and how many are there for brawls with their respective masters...like the coryphee?
  4. Yeah that would work. 3ss is about perfect for him, he really doesn't use them much except to get off really important casts. Killing a large spider for 3 scraps is a good tactic, and if you had another construct in there you could use them to assimilate something permanently for Lazarus, but it depends on the list. That list is pretty solid though, I have yet to try Lazarus with him, but he seems promising. A warden without support is kinda iffy with levi. One piece of advice I can give is that all of his minions are a distraction for levi...not literally, but you need stand alone minions that can do work without much synergy or support. The only units with any true synergy are ashes, SPAs, Desi, alyce, and anything that he can give a crow to for the trigger like ss miners. Other than that, the models you take will be for.a specific purpose that can work on their own...doing the most to your enemy to draw attention to themselves so levi can nuke away unmolested.
  5. Yeah I forgot about the fact that his crit is built in, but using rams to do 3/4/6 or whatever is less valuable Imo than doing 4/6/8 with a lacroix, yeah you take damage, but that's what slop haulers are for haha. Just a thought...but yeah, I'm less than convinced of his value...especially for the cost. I would say you could use him to tie stuff up in melee but then you can't abuse Aim High.
  6. Really I would say he's not useful for her, and I think her restrictions prevent him from being hired by her (though I don't know which of their rules superceds the other). His main synergy with gremlins appears to be that he can obey beasts, so he would be useful in a pig list lead by somer. Other than that he doesn't bring much to the table. He's ok in melee (something that gremlins need, but its nothing to write home about) but his ranged weapon is incredibly sub par by lacroix standards. So in sum, I don't think he can go with ophelia, but he appears to be an average melee hitter for standard gremlins lists, with some minimal synergy with pigs...in other words, I don't think he would be worth it with ophelia.
  7. Welcome to Levi, Magic . For purchases I would recommend the following, or bits and pieces thereof... 1-2 more packs of SPAs A pack of waifs and canine remains, though I'm sure you have those. Ashes and Dust Lazarus when he is released. Any and all riders, though I'm still not convinced how good his avatar is. A guardian. A watcher. Jack Daw Soulstone Miner Arachnid Swarm. There are more, but those are a great start. After you've played a few games, if you want any advice on tactics, just send me a PM, I might actually be able to give YOU some tips. For once .
  8. If you take kade, I wouldn't take candy, without Pandora they lose a lot of synergy, and you'll always want nix, so that's a whole lot of ss. I've been considering using him as a countercharge hitter, because he lacks the speed to keep up with the rest of the crew. Honestly id just try to squeeze him into a more standard hamelin crew. Start with a base of Kade, Nix and a Stolen and then just add from there depending on the strat you have. I wouldn't use kade in slaughter, but aside from the standard rats and catchers, some other good.minions for objective games are... Night terrors Canine remains Guild hounds Sorrows The sorrows might be more useful if you have Kade, because they can link to him without hurting him.
  9. Yeah, its gonna be a bit tough if that's all he's got is the box. You should tell him to invest in some more guild models. Santiago ortega and the executioner are both fairly strong models, as well as austringers. Her avatar is also pretty nice albeit hard to learn. As for the viks, yes taelor Hans and the ronin ignore armor, but remember that the viks themselves do not. The guardian is most useful for its Protect ability, ap even if there ignoring armor, you can have of take all the wounds and keep your stronger models alive.
  10. I would agree, it should end with everything else on them.
  11. I've never had an issue when I didn't take them...unless the strat is right for 'em, there are just too many flaws in the rat swarm. It's easily manipulated, vulnerable to things like terrifying, and doesn't give you as much activation control, etc. Sure, you will end up with them in the end, but very rarely is there a need to start with them. Yes, there are people that use them all the time because it's fluffy or they don't understand their other options, I'm just pointing out that basing an entire counter strategy on killing a single 5ss model will get you burnt if you're not prepared for the alternatives, that's all.
  12. :firedevil Devil's Advocate :firedevil You're all assuming the Hamelin player, upon seeing Hamelin the Ratcatcher, would be stupid enough to leave Hamelin more than 6" from his Rat Swarm. Again, also, you're assuming there will even be Rats and Ratcatchers. The best advice I can really give is to find ways to tie Hamelin up. There is no auto-win solution like "kill rat catchers" or "kill stolen." It's really not about killing, it's about tying him up and trying to force Hamelin to deal with models that threaten his own strats/schemes, so that he can't focus on denying you yours.
  13. I would still say he's much better with Ramos. Sure, you can have a bigger selection of Construcs with Levi, but Levi has less access to cheap, replaceable Scrap than Ramos, as he needs SPA's for Desolation Engines, and he can't just blow his own models up for fun/scrap, nor can he flat out summon something, it has to be off of a counter or killing an enemy. Even if you said, "Hey, well I'll just take things like LSPArachnids, and kill them off," you're still wasting points on the same stuff Ramos would take, thus influencing how many variations of different Constructs you could have. Also, like I said earlier, you could just take him with Ramos and a SSminer, assimilate the ability to bury, melee master, and use SS, and he's pretty much better offensively and defensively than any of the henchmen, though he wouldn't have their utility I suppose.
  14. Wow, dude, your LGS sounds ridiculous. They need to understand that Malifaux has a bit more depth than 40k/warmahordes/infinity and there are a lot more rules, which is often confusing. The problem is, I'll admit, many of the rules are written very cryptically, and often require some interpretation, and in some cases, changes. They really need to understand that Malifaux like those other games (nothing against those games, just a different type of beast). I would honestly hate for your LGS to hold a tournament and have people from other stores show up. I guarantee they would all quit and walk out the door when they hear how closed minded their system on rules matters is. I guess, as far as things like burying and the Dreamers alpha strike, those rules have been used by literally EVERYONE ELSE THAT PLAYS THE GAME for many many months, if your LGS can't accept that this is the case, and won't even read the forums, as Karn said, to form their own opinions, then that's pretty sad, and I would suggest continuing to try to change their minds if I was in your shoes.
  15. I know there is probably much deliberation going on about this from the RM's and such, but with Lazarus strategies popping up all over the place I'm really looking forward to an official ruling.
  16. Well he can assimilate the ability to burrow from a soulstone miner, that's how he can bury himself. Also, he can assimilate other things without making them permanent, bit if he buries himself, then those abilities don't wear off until the turn after is pops out. Buried models are not subject to effects ending during the closing phase.
  17. Does Reactivate count as a talent? I didn't read through all the pages of that thread in the rules forum to find out. I see it as an effect, (similar to giving something -2WP/df/whatever). Still, if it does count as a talent, then that's pretty insane giving a model like that 2 activations per turn.
  18. I was about to post that Jack Daw + Levi could take him out pretty easily, but then I realized that Laz can probably assimilate Counterspell too right? Yeah, so there goes that idea. I mean I guess Levi could just punch him in the face for 12wd, but would still be rough to get him there.
  19. Sweet, that's what I figured, thanks guys.
  20. Ok, tired and can't seem to find the thread through search. So this has been clarified, but I just want to make sure for an upcoming tournament (more for friends with Lilith and Snowstorm than myself)... Can models be Pushed off the table edge? I would assume not because the board edge is impassible. I know that Falling Back when on the board edge kills you, but that is specific to the wording for falling back. I remember reading a question about it regarding Lilith somewhere, and I'm almost positive that I remember thinking back to a game I played a while ago and thinking "That dirty bastard wouldn't have been able to win that way." It was probably in the Neverborn forum now that I think about it, but at least this way I can get it clarified for sure. Anyway, thanks in advance for the response, sorry the post kinda turned into my life story up there ^ haha.
  21. Hellz yeah, remember Necro's rules of engagement. -Be buzzed by round 1. -Forget WTF you did rounds 2-3 -Headache by round 4. -Win? Look forward to meeting the Ohio folks and any new players who aren't regulars at Pande. Should be much fun to be had.
  22. Yeah he's still ok with Levi, but not having use ss is pretty huge. Hell, if you keep it simple with Ramos, you can just assimilate use ss and melee master from a SSminer and with the stuff he's already got he's better than most henchmen out there from a pure offense/defense standpoint.
  23. You can't take Laz and Ryle in the same list...ryle is guild. Also, Lobo brought up a bunch of stuff to do with him down in the general threads part, called "How Awesome is your Lazarus." IMO, because of Ramos easily being able to generate lots of scrap, Lazarus combined with a SS Miner in a Ramos list is probably the best use for him (and because Ramos is a construct, you can assimilate Use SS...something I can't do with Levi unless I also take Collodi :/ ). He'll still find a way into many of my Levi and Merc lists though.
  24. Just a word of caution when trying to tackle hamelin....don't focus a strategy around killing rat catchers. Many hamelin players don't run the rat swarm in many lists, myself included. I'll run them when my specific strat fits their use, but generally you're more likely to see things like Canines taking the place of a rat swarm in many lists....as they can be converted to rats as they die anyways, and allow for.more flexibility and action control. Edit: Probably should have read Mr.B's post first haha, but yeah +1.
  25. If it was a neutral objective on a standard sized table he could easily walk 7 and summon 6" out to get the neutral one, though perhaps not with lcb, any other model could do it though. Lilith is rather straight forward and I feel like she's gonna have a lot of trouble with the dreamer regardless of player skill. Unfortunately I don't personally play or play against the dreamer often enough to give tactics with Lilith who I also don't own....yet.
