  1. I sell Malifaux also. So far the site in my sig is a bit limited, just 'cause locally the demand isn't there... yet! I do intend to remedy this. In the meantime I'd do stuff to order. I've done this with Infinity; folk write up an army list or come up with a shopping list and I work out the best deal I can do, and if they like the deal I get the goods in.
  2. That's one of the things I like about this place; that contact with the players is very, very important! We're all in it for love of the product, not just business!
  3. I was grabbed by Rasputina too, so her crew will be my main force and the one i use for intro games. What I liked is that through the Gamins etc the way she works is kinda like how I play the Cryx in Warmachine.
  4. That's some pretty cool stuff! I loved Pantin Nocturne so I'm sure i'll love this too!
  5. I, too started out with GW's offerings, getting into it at the dawn of 2nd Edition 40k. I never really got into Warhammer as much, though I did have a small Brettonian army. I'd like to play the older versions again, but these days I'm not taken by anything they have to offer. Funnily enough I also used to work for them and during that time I had less and less desire to play... After GW I got into Warmachine, skirmish level gaming was definitely more my thing since I didn't have to spend a fortune or paint a few hundred models before I could start playing! From this I got into Infinity, but only in the past couple of months have I started playing, though I've had a small Pan Oceana force since the game first hit the shelves And now I'm trying to start up Malifaux! I love the style and weirdness off the game, and that it really doesn't take itself too seriously. I have had stuff for it for a while now, but no opponents locally; Warmachine seems the more popular. But, now that I am a purveyor of games, as per my Sig, I'm showing the local games clubs that there's more out there than GW! If they buy stuff from me, cool, but I really want to show that there are a lot of cool games out there! Apart from those I also enjoy a lot of games no longer in production; Adeptus Titanicus, Hybrid, Pantin Nocturne, the original Space Hulk, and the RPGs Mechanical Dream and Cadwallon.
  6. I'm experiencing something very similar at the moment. There are 2 open games groups that I know of, one of which is for younger players, but because they're basically part of a local council-run facility I'm not really allowed to give any more detail than that: fear of paedophiles and all that (i am serious) so it's really difficult to get involved due to the presence of minors. Hell you need a CRB check just to be allowed anywhere near the place. Apart from them I know for a fact there are plenty more Gamers of all sorts, but they just do not communicate with each other and more than a few don't seem to want to. I even tried to set up some sort of gaming group at my old Uni but that's a bureaucratic nightmare! It's really feckin' difficult to get anything done with regards to Gamers round here...
  7. Well, you can get it from me anyway... I left GW behind because basically I got fed up. I still intend to play some of their games, namely Necromunda, 2nd Ed 40k and Rogue Trader, BFG and Adeptus Titanicus. I don't like the way things have gone now because to play the game, they're basically asking for too much money from me. I still love the background, read the novels, play the PC games, but on the tabletop side they've lost me. The system is getting just a bit too simple, with more emphasis on quantity rather than quality. And Apocalypse rules have left me very jaded indeed! I just saw that as, "Apocalypse! A new rules set to grant you the privelage of spending even more money!". I, personally, like a bit more detail in my games, and I also like painting a lot. I'm not happy unless i'm fielding a fully painted army with some decent detail. Now, with the likes of Apocalypse rules, I'm not too happy with spending a lot of time painting a unit just for it to be on the table for barely a few minutes before it gets whacked... I like how that with Malifaux, Warmahordes and Infinity, everything does something useful; i won't be buying any units just to make up the numbers and provide the enemy with something to shoot at. And for just a few quid more than the price of a single squad of Tactical Marines, i'm already playing the game. The other thing that puts me off is the general attitude i experience within GW. Now, maybe it is just my (semi)local store, but the staff can be exceptionally rude and generally insulting when they find that I'm actually a veteran player of the game, and as such treat me with a general disdain. Stuff like turning their back on me when I'm answering a question that they asked, lying to me about incarnations of their own game that I played to try and justify their stance on current editions, and a general dismissal of anything I say since i'm more a fan of the older systems. For example, when I was recounting the merits and enjoyable times I spent with 2nd Edition, such as with incidents involving the Overwatch rule, this was all dismissed rather loudly with "Ah, overwatch was too complicated! No-one would ever do anything and whole armies would just stand there!". Well, I, personally, have never experienced that, and last I heard they went and introduced a rule to Cityfight which says something along the lines of, "a unit may forego its shooting to shoot in the opponent's turn" ie. Overwatch, yeah? That rule that, apparently, ruined a whole system incarnation? As ambassadors of the company and the hobby, they suck ass. So yeah, I will read the books, play the computer games, and play earlier incarnations of their game that I really enjoyed, but these days they have nothing to offer me.
  8. Where exactly did the crystals come from? I've had a look on the GF9 website and found loads of battlefields in a box, but none of them with any crystals. I did plan on using some quartz crystals stuck to the bases with araldite for my Cult of December, but these ones would be a lot easier.
  9. Electronic: MW2, as always... Dawn of War 2. Wargames: Infinity, and getting back into Malifaux RPGs: Deathwatch, Vamp: The Masq, and starting off Mechanical Dream.
  10. While i'm sure it'll be rubbish, I am curious as to how a Commando remake would look. Will Sam really be tearing the doors off of cars and throwing phone booths at cops? To even look the part he'd need to pull the polar opposite of what Christian Bale did for The Machinist. If I ever did see it i'm sure half the fun would be watching out for Worthington's accent lapses. He may very well start the film saying stuff like, "Yeah, hotdawg! Gee, sure! Baloney!" but it's guaranteed he'll come out with, "G'day, matey! I'm gonna kick your arse! Croikey!" at some point.
  11. I stock some of the stuff but I hope to extend this list soon... www.shaekonnitgames.co.uk I'm based in Scotland but yeah, i'd ship anywhere. If there's any particular stuff you wanted i'd do my best to provide.
  12. How about a British Empire themed crew? Some old officer who's fought across all corners of the world, from India to Afghanistan to China. He comes into battle accompanied by a retinue of servants with particular talents; Indian dervish or even an Afghan sniper with his Jezzail. What he himself brings to the table is his iron will and utter disdain for the vulgar magics employed by the likes of the Arcanists. So strong is his hatred that he simply wills their effects out of existence; this modern age is no place for foul witchery!
  13. I posted this in Miniature Matters, but all things considered it's probably more suited to this section... Ok, it has been a while since I've posted here but i've been very busy indeed! As a small-time purveyor of games, i'm trying to concentrate on one system at a time to drum up interest locally by going to games clubs and running intros for those who have so far only had any experience with Games Workshop's offerings. Currently i'm concentrating on Infinity, which is proving hugely popular, so next up is Malifaux! (I'm doing it one at a time so I don't seem like i'm shamelessly flogging stuff; i am passionate about all the games I sell). So, I was thinking about the best way to run an intro game. I have the Rasputina crew in a fair stage of painting that i'd like to use for intros, plus I just like the faction in general To fight them I was thinking of the Ortegas, since they give a good impression of the weird-western style of Malifaux. Are these two a good matchup for intro games, or would another faction be easier to work with? So far in my shop (see sig below), I have the basics for Malifaux, but if it really picks up i'll get in more! Plus, i could easily take requests for stuff every time i make an order to my suppliers, so while it's not exactly the hottest item at the moment, like Tesco, every little helps...

  15. Also a fan of drinking, though I know i shouldn't really be saying that out loud round here. Also fond of fast cars, though I never combine that with the afforementioned hobby. Though i don't go to any classes any more I do still keep up with martial arts training, loving Capoeira at the moment! Also play RPGs as well as wargames, and spend a fair bit of time on Xboxlive since it's the most fun way of keeping in touch with my Uni pals when they're not in town.
  16. They look kinda like some small buildings I made, but instead of the wooden, western look I went for a spanish/mexican look and sprayed them with textured paint to give them a more stoney appearance. DOn't look as good as that though, need to get more practice in, but hell, better than nothing anyway! I had a look for any pre-fab terrain I could buy, but it kinda sucks as nothing i found would be appropriate for Malifaux, aside from some old Mordheim card buildings I hadn't built yet.
  17. It's looking cool, but yeah, time is always an issue. I made a series of very simple modular buildings from foamcard myself to use with malifaux/infinity but when up against building/painting my scores of models, doing housework and trying to keep myself active, not enough gets done!!
  18. Seems Malifaux players are scattered far and wide round here... I've got that many games on the go at the moment i dunno when i'll get round to playing it. Need to get some into games on the go anyway when i'm showcasing it to the local gaming clubs.
  19. I don't really understand why they did what they did. They used to make some of the best models around, why go down the pre-painted route...? I managed to get my hands on their Cadwallon rpg recently, and i'm loving it! I love rpgs with as much world detail as this one.
  20. My name also comes from an RPG character. The game was SLA Industries and the first and most successful character I made was a Stormer-711 Xeno, which is a vat-grown soldier with large multifaceted eyes, armoured skin, double jointed legs and great regenerating abilities. The thing about the Stormers is that since so many are grown, the lab technicians don't really bother with proper names. So, that character was named Cho-Konnit. I got that name from what one of the soldiers in Day of the Dead shouted at a pack of zombies as they carried his legs away - "Choke on it!!". From that came my next Xeno's name, Shae-Konnit. That's from the phrase "Shake on it, buddy!" to seal a deal. To that end, i also used it for my online store. One of the other players in my group also made a Stormer type and called it "Sur-Konnit".
  21. Gorkamorka was fantastic, pity that nowadays its a relatively expensive game to play because of the trucks. And that the modern orks don't really fit on said trucks quite as well as the older ones did. I keep meaning to start up this narrative campaign i've had for Necromunda on the back burner for ages, it'd be a great laugh. I too have fond memories of my Delaque gang which had both the best and worst rolls ever. Almost every game one of my gangers would die from his injuries, but thankfully I had the "Settlement" territory which always managed to provide a new ganger to replace the dead one. If anything I'd say GW did the best customizable games of that sort. I dunno what Dogs of War was like, but with GW you had thousands of bits readily available to add to your guys as their loadout changed. Which reminds me, back when I worked for them there was a memo sent round the GW stores telling us that players were henceforth not allowed to use 40k equipment with their Necro gangs - they'd only be allowed to use those bits sold in Necromunda branded packs. Their reasoning was that it was a seperate game and therefor none of it should cross over with the other games. All the staff said they could stick that one straight up their arse.
  22. I'm up the other end of the country, In East Kilbride just outside of Glasgow. There's a gaming club there one of my old coworkers runs, and it's going from strength to strength. GW really have their claws in, but after talking to some of the members they'd just love to try something else!
  23. Well, thanks for the big welcome! As for what factions i'm into, so far I like most of them! One I'm definately trying is the Cult of December - their play style seems pretty similar to what i'm used to with Cryx for warmachine, what with all the ice-constructs behaving like arc nodes. Aside from them i think I'll also try the Gremlins, though Lilith's brood also sound pretty cool - I like the mad stuff they can bring to bear. With the Gremlins it's more the fun factor, plus painting them should be a good laugh.
  24. I'm based in East Kilbride, just outside Glasgow. I know of a couple of people that play, and as I make my presence felt at the local games club, hopefully i'll entice some more folk into giving Malifaux a try. Right now all they play are GW games, and last week i introduced them to warmachine which they all all very interested in now. I'll ease Malifaux in soon, as soon as I get enough stuff painted up to run some intro games. Problem is, running intros for people who are only used to Warhammer/40k can be an intense process - as I said earlier, they're too used to just lining up and shooting. Adding this like Focus allocation, Fury leeching, a Draw Phase etc and getting them used to it will be a pain. Ultimately, I'd prefer to play a game with people who know what they're doing and give a running commentary so beginners can watch and learn.
