  1. I wouldnt mind all new factions. Maybe not even so much oriented around a real life nation but maybe rather religious factions, fictional goverments etc. We will see though!
  2. Hasnt it been said the factions are not going to be the same? I can see some coming from and to Earthside but not all. Guild: sure thing, I'm thinking earthside goverment style. So armies with soldiers, mech and tech. Tyrant Cults: Cult of December being one already hinted at. Im thinking norse barbarians in Victorian times. Ten Thunders: in the aftermath of the Blackpowder Wars they might be moving in en masse... Well organized crime syndicate trying to take power during the chaos, why not!
  3. I'm hoping for all new factions! I don't mind seeing resemblances, but please give us more new design stuffs! From what I can see in the art it looks like its Eartside Guild (which doesnt so much have Ortega's, Witchling Stalkers etc.) vs something that makes me think of...Slurids! I'm thinking we get certain factions from Alt-Earth and maybe one or two monsterous/alien factions mixed in. Doesnt mean the Earth factions need to be all Human though . The Blackpowder wars already hint at constructs, undead and magic practinioners. I am hoping that the characters are still there, like hero leaders with special abilities and such. A bit alla Warma/Hordes, with the Casters being the bad-asses.
  4. I actually think this has a lot of potential. I'm hoping for about 20/30 models as an average. I don't think that massive armies would suit me do to painting restrictions. However I love the more army like feel of it! Reading the short fluff on the Black Powder Wars I am even more excited! Thinking of armies based upon nations with Magical as well as Steampunky armory in a setting that is alternate earth baesd makes me squeal in excitement! Im picturing Cthulhu-like cults as fully fledged armies fighting against British Royal Guard with some gentlemen mages helping along. Sorry, my imagination went haywire there, but thats my hope and (based on what I've seen) idea.
  5. Yeah I can see the joy you had in painting them up! I'm still looking into getting Gremlins and, as I am not to much of a modeller, checking out the use of Liquid Greenstuff. Wish to see the full thing painted! And offcourse Lenny etc.
  6. He looks great! Did you have lots of gap problems with the jaw? The paint job itself is sweet so far! Love the green toning!
  7. Yeah, as far as i know from TTB everything native to Malifaux is "neverborn" although the definition is mostly used for the sentient Neverborn.
  8. Well I think Those are just animals warped by magic? Or is that to easy?
  9. Well I think Those are just animals warped by magic? Or is that to easy?
  10. Well with the magic flying around earthside I wouldnt be surprised either . Interesting! Just like the bit in M2E saying that the Neverborn actually tap into the "primodial" magic of Malifaux instead of the more surfaced magic from the Arcanists.
  11. I believe though the Avatars arent all Tyrant Manifestations, maybe they become tyrants themselves though slightly?
  12. Interesting! Maybe something that came through the breach to earth? Who ever said it wouldnt go the other way around?
  13. That might also be the case, humanity peeking through the veil and taken their inspiration for myth from another dimension.
  14. The TTB story hasn't changed no, it just describes the world from the view of a death sentenced scholar. Hence the "gods" reference. A human civilisation able to overcome illness and death would qualify as "Gods" to the eyes of earthside humanity. So the Neverborn, or to specify, Lilith, Pandora and Nekhima (I butchered her name didnt I? *to lazy to look up*) are remnants of this former civilisation. High end (although twisted) mages so to speak that changed their appearance to fit with earthside mythology and drive earthside humanity from Malifaux. As they are probable conduits to the Tyrants. Just wonder about Zoraida's story, she came from earthside waaay back as I understand.
  15. So where did you get the mages part? (It sounds good, just havent heard it before). I do believe that is the decadence and hubris (its always decadence with those civilisations) that got the Neverborn to become feral and tribe like, in a way not willing to make the same mistakes and build another civilisation where magic does their work. Indeed Collodi has been spoken of as a sort of entertainment, brought to life to entertain children, gone mad now after the apocalypse. The one thing that is strange to me still is how the Nephalim and Lilith look quite different in all aspects. I almost believe that Lilith is the true descendant of the natives and the Nephalim are her creations, indeed to fight her war. The Gremlins I believe where simply human once, with Lilith and Pandora for instance being greater mages/gods who although twisted still hold some degree of their power from before whereas the Gremlins where just regular folk so to speak, twisted without any willpower or magic to resist. Its rather cool how there are hints everywhere but no real true story. I do think you might be quite right on the mages part. TTB describes a scribes view of thing and tells them to be "gods" which is quite a logical description for mages so powerful. The M2E book also hints at the true magic, not the magic that the Arcanists find in Malifaux... I believe that the Neverborn tap into the magic of the world that has been corrupted to its core, unleashing the true potential of Malifaux Magic but with it slowly creeping more towards the madness that drove the Tyrants.
  16. Well reading the TTB books they are talking about lesser and greater gods, seeing though that for instance Tuco has been "changed" as well as Zoraida I believe that they are twisted by the fallout that still marks their world after this god war.
  17. So I know this topic popped up more then once on this forum but with the Through the Breach RPG, books and Wyrd Chronicles I'd love to see what we know and theorize about the Neverborn as a race or whatever So let me kick off with what I piece together: At some point in the history of ... (We only know the city is called Malifaux, the plane/land itself remains unnamed) there lived Lesser and Greater Gods who became tyranical and mad with hubris and power. So the Gods warred upon each other and madness, plague, death etc all where unleashed upon their world as these deities waged there war. After all was over and the Tyrants where "defeated" the remnants of this world wrecked with madness and twisted by the post apocalyptic world they where lett with regrouped into feral tribes. After the breach reopens though the Neverborn (collectively as a race) started to war on the humans as they are not tied to the fate and rules of their world and as such have the capacity to either unleash or forever banish the Tyrants. Thats just my collected wisdom added with my theories. So what are you guys theories?

  19. Wayland Games, www.waylandgames.co.uk, has the Punk Zombies and Nicodem box down for 28th of February. Havent looked at the other factions but there are releases for February 28th planned anyway
  20. Thinking about the greater and lesser gods thing might they not be a kind of manifestation of the trickster god? Loki, the Fae etc. Malicious little spirits n such like every mythology has?
  21. Good to hear Yool! Welcome to Malifaux! No WYSIWYG here concerning model weapons (so far) mostly because everything can be glanced from the cards.
  22. What drew me in at first was the detail in both figures and the game. With only 5 to 10 models I could have cinematic battles with mini's doing all kinds of cool stuff. Often more so as with any big army games. The fluff is what nailed it down as my number 1 game! Their combination of different themes makes the world and setting a vast range of imaginative stuff where everyones favours are catered for. Also the card mechanic and the combo and synergy potential is brilliant!
  23. What I know from various sources: Neverborn are descendants of the former inhabitants of Malifaux. Those original inhabitants in turn are described as being greater and lesser gods...My Theory based on that is that the Greater Gods became the Tyrants, the lesser one's gone mad in the aftermath of trying to contain/destroy the Tyrants became the Neverborn. I believe that the Nephilim's Angel/Demon appearance support this theory, being a wink at "Gods" and "Angels". I also believe that the human forms taken by Pandora and Lilith are very much part of their terror campaign. I would certainly be scared ****less as a beautiful looking woman starts cleaving trough my mates with total lack of human emotions or motives, that is a frightening paradox! As for the Gremlins, I believe they might have been a sort of "imps/elfs" or whatever helpers to their Godlike brethern (lesser or greater). Now without this leadership adopting human ways as a way of structure and guiding culture. Just my thoughts based on what tibbits we actually know.
  24. Pictures are up on the releases page! Brilliant models! Loving McMourning and M&SU boxes.
