  1. Yeah, it's right in the definition in the book. Don't know if it has it that way on the card too, as I don't have them Olin front of me. But I definitely know it's in the book, cause I was reading up on the doves last night.
  2. I was under the impression the tournament on Sunday would just be a normal tournament, and that the Map League wouldn't be starting until Thursday evening.
  3. You can't use the free soulstone to summon things. But yeah, I think doing Reactivate, then summoning a dove on each activation is a solid move. They only cost 1 SS that way. So, just leave yourself with 6-8 SS to start with, and then dump two on the very first turn. For only having 6 SS left, you'd get 2 doves, as opposed to building them into the crew to start with and only having a cache of 4. And if you really don't want to give up the soulstones for the Doves, should be easy enough on the first round to dump 2 cards for an extra SS.
  4. Those are pretty nice pics for a phone. Paint jobs look great too! I still need to practice making such crisp transitions between colors like you have, and how to properly apply the ink wash to really make things stand out. Nicely done.
  5. I'm just wondering when we'll see the Leviathan. 100mm perhaps? :spider:
  6. It doesn't matter. You can have a patented process to use a laser to cut granite rocks, and some other company can come along, and use the same laser, and the same process, but if they are cutting sandstone instead, then they can file their own patent on that. Did you read the above post by MiketheMerciless?? This isn't "litigious behavior". It was actually BF being nice, and giving a head's up to the other companies that they had a patent which would be issuing soon, and so the other companies should be prepared. This gives Outrider or whoever, a chance to change their own process, or check to make sure they aren't violating BF's patent ahead of time. They could've been jerks about it and not said anything, and then when the patent issued, start sending out Cease and Desist letters, or demanding payment for using processes which fall under their patent. I see this as actually a fairly nice thing to do, that they weren't required to do as far as I know. Seems like people just blew it way out of proportion.
  7. LOL Well, I don't keep my fingernails very long at all (tend to chew on/pick at them...i know, bad habit). Maybe it's just the table surface you guys are playing on. I just try to keep my deck near a table edge so I can just slide them off the edge. In any case, I've found the Puppet Deck easier to pick up than the regular cards at least. The PD is much tougher to shuffle though. I can shuffle a regular deck with my eyes closed if need be. But the PD cards will easily slide out from between each while shuffling and it's tough to feel when they do that, so I have to keep my eyes on them, or else...*whoosh!*...cards everywhere! (Yes, this has happened at least once already, lol)
  8. That's fantastic man! Nice work on the patterns. I actually just started my Cassandra last night. I like the mole on her cheek as well. I might steal that idea.
  9. Isn't the Pandora Avatar a 40mm base vs. the 30mm for the regular version? Again, if your LGS doesn't care, it's not a big deal I guess.
  10. Since I work for a company that puts a lot of time/effort into developing manufacturing processes though, I can understand being able to patent this. What they would be patenting would basically be process. There is probably very particular details like the type of laser, speed of cutting, intensity of the beam, foam material type, cutting angles, etc. All of these probably required months of development testing, or hiring people who are experts in these areas to develop said process. Again, Battlefoam likely spent a lot of money to do this, and are just trying to make sure that they can recoup those expenses through sale of their product. Come to think of it, there's plenty of things in my industry where the patent law doesn't help us enough, and we end up getting hosed for it. We do all the engineering work, and somebody else reverse engineers it (not even close to as much work involved), and then sells a cheaper, inferior product. But the systems in place don't prevent this, and thus make it tougher for us to sell our product. In the end, we stand to potentially lose money because of things like this. It causes us a lot more work and headache to go to our customers and try to convince them why it's worth it to spend the little bit of extra money for our OEM parts.
  11. Well, true, that's always an issue with patent law. It's a matter of proving who came up with the idea first. Sometimes it's just simply that two companies come up with at the same time, but Company A is much larger, with better lawyers, and is able to get their patent through the system first, thus killing Company B. Honestly though, patent law has been around long enough that anyone who comes up with something and doesn't patent it immediately, it's kind of their own dumb fault. Still not right for another company to steal it, but that's how things go.
  12. AHhh...that's why, I hadn't finished reading through all of Book 2 yet. 'Asset' is the new Special Forces distinction. Also sort of seems like most of the Unique characters are listed as 'Members' while the non-Uniques are 'Assets'. Not across the board though. So it still stands that in a Brawl, you would have to start with Hoffman and then bring in Ramos. I still think it sucks that you have to pay the additional SS cost for bringing in any Arcanist constructs at that point, but I guess that's sort of the balance of determining Brawl lists, as most of the more powerful Master combos come from cross-faction pair ups.
  13. That's one thing I still haven't been able to get straight. Which ones are which??
  14. Well, you got to think about it from the company's perspective though. They probably paid good R&D money to develop that process. Now some other company wants to come along, basically steal their idea, and produce the same product, but without spending the money up front in order to do the research and stuff. If the US Patent laws didn't prevent this kind of stuff, then companies would either go out of business because some one else was always stealing their ideas, or companies would stop coming up with new ideas. It's not necessarily a perfect system, but it's there to keep companies from screwing each other over. Based on my limited understanding of this situation, it seems to me that Battlefoam is in the right here. They have a process/product that they spent the time/money to develop, and someone else is trying to cut in on their action. They have every right to say "Hey, that was our idea first!"
  15. Just use your fingernails along the edge and bend the card a little. Remember, these aren't like regular paper cards, so repeated bending while trying to pick them up won't ruin the cards like a regular deck will.
  16. Well, customs is there to make sure people are paying the appropriate taxes on imported goods. A lot of people tend to mark values on the customs form that are a good deal lower than the actual merchandise inside the box. So, it wouldn't surprise me if they randomly open packages now and then as a sort of spot-check inspection type of thing. I have no real idea though, as I live in the US, so I'm just speculating. That seriously sucks though. Why would you have to pay more than the book itself costs in customs fees??
  17. Awesome! Can't wait to pick up the box set then. Not terribly thrilled about branching out into yet another faction already (Only had Viks until 2 weeks ago, now just starting on Arcanists [woo hoo Colette and Ramos]...and already interested in Hoffman), but I had way too much fun painting up my Nightmare version to not play with him at least at some point.
  18. There was a thread in the Rules area asking about that. I don't think a Marshall ever weighed in on it, but the general consensus is that you didn't need LOS as most abilities are pretty clear when you do/don't need LOS to utilize the ability.
  19. I'm mostly interested to know if the sculpt will actually be different, or if it will just be smaller.
  20. Yeah, that look is apparently more popular than I realized, lol. I swear, I didn't know it when I chose to do that to mine.
  21. A Colette box set and some Coryphees might be good for you then. Lots of crazy tricks, weird triggers, teleporting, pushing large distances, free disengages, + and - flips....I'm still trying to figure out how to actually run her correctly.
  22. Haha, yeah, the hammer is pretty close, that's for sure. I just couldn't resist the hooded visage, plus the green scheme that Wyrd used on their studio model. In case you didn't see the thread with my pics, Johan is here: http://wyrd-games.net/forum/showthread.php?t=14413
  23. I played a 30SS scrap last night with the Viks, 2 Ronins, Student of Conflict, and Bishop, against a Marcus crew, using very few beast, but including Hans, a Conflict Gunslinger, 2 December Acolytes, and a Moleman. I crushed him with only having lost Bishop (darn Convict Gunslinger high attack/damage flips and Rapid Fire). But Bishop's +2 Df spell really was awesome. He survived two full rounds of attacks, only taking 2 Wds, while almost all of my opponent's squad took attacks on him. That 8 defense is brutal against any non-Masters, as you start with about a 3 or 4 higher Defense than their attacks. Makes it crazy tough for them to actually hit him. I don't know that I'll play him all the time, but I at least understand how to use him a bit better. Bishop's Adaptive Fighter was also very strong allowing me to pummel the tunneled Moleman, thanks to Bishop having two different ways to gain "ignore armor". As always, the Ronins were strong as well. I utilized one to completely lock down Hans for 2 rounds where he ended not being able to do anything, as he had to Disengage AND use his (All) action and take the :-fates in order to do anything at all. He missed his attack the one time, and failed to disengage the other time.
  24. Awesome!! I love the suitcase. Would go along well with my Dr. Doom inspired Johan.
