  1. You don't need to cast her out on her turn. You can use her slow to die action to get her out just make sure to keep that 10+ in you're hand of course you need that anyway to cast her out at all. Aside from potentially giving you an extra attack this will eat up AP every time you're opponent wants to "kill" her. edit:ninja'd
  2. I was mulling over ideas for a Seamus crew a the other day and noticed that Bette Noir's spell Mark for death it only takes an 8 flip to get off, has range 12 and no resist and identical effects to Seamus's excessive bleeding trigger; target becomes insignificant at end of game unchea table Wp->12 flip or count as killed. There's one more model with a similar ability Hamelin, sure Hamelin has better things to do than attack 90% of the time but it's an option for a low def master (it is unfortunate that it's on a crow trigger though). Of course anytime one of these three could get a kill in one activation rather than just tagging a model insignificant you'd do so and any of these three could kill quite a few things. Against anything bigger though, you'd tag it with insignificant then tie it up with your weak filler models. Basically, if all three of these models survive 2-3 turns you're opponent should be incapable of acheiving any strategy or scheme other than slaughter or assasinate. My initial thought for a 30ss list is Seamus-2 cache Bette Noir-9 Hamelin-10 necropunk-3 canine remains-2 canine remains-2 cache 6 I know a Seamus list without belles is blasphemy but it feels like a lot of filler models are needed to make up for all the point concentration in Bette and Hamelin. Also Seamus can summon belles but not dogs and punks. All the usual potential shennanigans apply of course like getting more dogs and having them kill each other an Seamus off one, collect counters and summon a belle then have copycat summon Seamus from 15 inches away on it's second turn then walk, shoot, summon, walk to cover. In a brawl I'd figure either McMourning for his huge ss cache and pick up the sebastian and zombie chiuaha to get the flesh construct factory going or Hamelin assuming he has most of the minion's abilities and can team with Seamus.
  3. Another big thing that while each master has a subfaction of sorts (models associated in fluff and often mechanics with a particular master) masters from the four main factions can recruit anything from their faction. This can give you a very different feel and often a more powerful/versatile force than than their starter or a crew exclusively from their subfaction.
  4. I agree with everything timelapse said about the executioner but, this thread should be about the jackalope which I plan to proxy with a simple white rabbit from one of reaper's familiar packs.
  5. I guess I've been doing it wrong I've been using washes. . . To make creases darker so they pop to the eye and applied haphazardly to give an area a mottled look and to fix a color that didn't come out just right.
  6. Thanks for the advice everyone. I'll try some of these on my next project. Is matte mediium the stuff that makes water/ilce effects? Oh, and is there a way to cut regular super glue to make something more like GW thin glue?
  7. I've heard people talk about making their own washes. Are they just paint and water? If so what proportions?
  8. A lot of really great points have been made in this thread but I had a thought that nobodys adressed; How can you dislike the figure/stats of all low ss figures? That's alot of figs! I could understand not liking molemen and gamin but. . . Death Marshalls Witchling Stalkers Guild Guards Steampunk Arachnids Canine Remains Crooked Men Necropunks Belles Terror Tots Sorrows That's alot of models to dislike. It makes me wonder if what you don't like is not having a high enough cb to hit more often than not and enough damage to kill most models in 1-2 hits. As a general rule that mindset wins lots of small battles and loses games in Malifaux. Here's some general and specific advice. General. 1. In tournaments where you can't change your crew then your crew needs to be able to do anything ie win at any strategy or scheme (I've observed that tourneys are use each scheme once so in three rounds you'll use all but one scheme in book 1). Running nothing but "the elite" leaves too few figures to have them where they need to be for VP. 2. If you have fewer figures than your opponent try and make each figure worth 2 or more of theirs. The penalties for firing into mellee are pretty harsh in Malifaux. Another thing to keep in mind is a 50mm bas figure with 2" attack can mellee models up to 5 inches apart from each other. Specific Jackelope would have been a good addition it's got dec's ent odds of killing a gremlin and it's multiply ability makes it a steal at 1ss. Since it can be thrown away tieing up the sabertooth ceribus would have been great. It speed gives you pretty much an auto win on treasurehunt. If you had it and a rattler you could split them one going left the other right when your opponent splits his force move the cerebus to the other side of the table leaving several of your opponents figures 20" or so from any of your models. The Cerebus can charge something 20" away from where it starts
  9. I run the same list but don't have a convict yet. I also want a december cultist to switch in when I need the stealth deployment.
  10. I'm planning to go this Saturday to see if the info I got about there being a pretty regular informal saturday group is accurate. I'm not sure what time I'll be there but I'll post when I'm leaving. I take the T from Dorchester so it takes over a half hour to get there. Oh I just checked their website and there's an event anyone know if their event's tend to take all their space and leave no tables for open gaming?
  11. Y I might try to get better picks this weekend. Also I wanted to point out how I posed lillith's swprd tilted to the side like she's holding it casually. I feel it fits better with the way she twirls her hair. I kinda picture her as a Buffy villian. Also it's closer to her art.
  12. Hey I was wondering if any of you guys were regulars at Hobby Bunker I asked about people playing mailfaux they said a couple guys come there most Saturdays. Oh and the guy, Jon I think, that I was talking to about deadlands I lost your e-mail. Drop me a line it's hand_of_vecna@yahoo.com.
  13. I decided to play up the nature aspect of neverborn while downplaying the demonic aspects. Took new better pictures also added Zoraida, coming soon Waldgeists! Oh the group picture has a malifaux deck and blood counters in the shot because it's going on my henchman application. All the Nephalim's hair is painted green with flock glued on top. I glued the young's wings onto the tot's and gave the young wings from a reaper fairy wings pack(tot wings broke off and got lost ordered some bits from reaper that will look better than my origionals) the weapons also came from a reaper pack. The tree stumps came from a model train shop. All the nephalim have three washes a green followed by two browns. The tots have a flesh base, the mature a combination of spacewolf grey and mithril silver and the young are halfway in between. I glued her arm so that her sword is held in a more casual manner. I felt this fit better with the way she's twirling her hair. Also I gave her wings to make her fit in with her Nephalim better. Sorry my Zoraida pick kinda sucks, my camera is shit and the only reasons the rest of the picks are as good as they are is because I played around with the lighting alot and she's so dark I couldn't get it right. Her skirt is the same color as Lillith's jacket and her skin is the same as the Mature Nephalim's with a touch of black added to the base coat.
  14. Love that Horecat. If you have access to a bits box you should add a bloody stump of an arm or something.
  15. Very nice, I'm not sure why but those figures give me the impression that they all love their jobs especially the open coffin marshall. Something about them projects alot of energy even though LJ is usually a very cool/dour crew.
  16. Wait, he was in bed in the middle of the night! What self respecting evil henchman/gravedigger is in bed in the middle of the night? More likely it's the middle of the day because some foolish lawman(well woman actually) demanded a dual at high noon. If the color similarity is intentional and meant to be kinda tounge in cheek funny I whole heartedly approve.
  17. I like the overall look of you're crew but I think you should have used a more dissimilar green from your rotten flesh for the matching clothes. It put the image in my head that mortimer was flashing me and made me wonder what I was looking at in the case of the figure in the back corner with the jacket and hat. It also gives me the image of Nicodem in a upscale boutique comparing cloth swatches to undead flesh.
  18. Anothe reason to dop the peacekeeper for executioner; it'll save about 15 bucks. Also then you can dop 1 4 pointe fo 35ss and 2 for 30ss.
  19. Hey are you still active? Where in Boston do you play?

  20. You should consider fielding an executioner regardless of what master your running. He should be able to kill a belle a round and if his non critical attack can kill he can trigger final repose. Slow to Die and loves his job should keep him in play against the hoard for awhile. Try to flank the summons spamming master and lay the hurt on them but first, take out any counter producing models; zombie chihuawa, mortimer, sebastian. They should be hard pressed to deal with an executioner coming down the middle and a ranged attacker flaking them while the rest of your crew supports them taking out whatever undead they can.
  21. I see one problem it would be a bad decision tactically, further exposing one of it's biggest weaknesses. All but one of it's figures (the most expensive) generate corpse and blood counters and guild has no use for corpse counters. Lady J and Executioner have last rites which helps if they activate in the right area before a token gets picked up and it may still not be the best use of their AP. A cheap militia or dog would also have low WP making it easy fodder for Pandora.
  22. Ya it is odd. Like I said though the 30ss Ramos list I wanted to run really needed to be able to swap models. I wanted to run Jonah, Alyce and Brass Arachnid with 2 aracnids. It should be a strong steam roller but with only 3 non-insignificant models (well at least four really since I'll get a free arachnid at some point) and two models that want to stick close to the master it would be really weak in some senarios. I needed to be able to swap stuff out for scenarios. Like I said this seems like a sizable boost to anyone running guild and annoying for everyone else. I just thought that Zoraida could make a good ace in the hole for a Nephalim/Lilith crew. Anyway Matt told me this shouldn't be a recurring thing.
  23. It all look very nice but, I think the blue/purple tinge of the rotten belle's skin is too close to her dress which I love. I think a fresher flesh would look better. Very nice overall look though.
  24. So a couple weeks ago I picked up mailfaux and was told the first tourney at my store would be held at the end of July. It was going to be with 30ss crews but, you could bring up to 40ss in models and build your crew after rolling for strategy and seeing what master your opponent is playing. So, basically the way Malifaux is meant to be played with a reasonably restriction on the pool of figures. I was planning on playing a pretty standard Ramos crew with just figures from his sub-faction and the outcasts associated with him with a pair of december cultists to swap in when needed. Well, apparently this tourney is being played in bizzarro world and our crew is fixed but, we can bring a second master. This seems wierd as hell since so many master's synergize heavily with their subfaction minions. Anyway I don't like my options for an all comers 30ss Ramos list, so I'm considering Neverborn specifically a Nephalim heavy crew and switching between Lilith and Zoraida. Is this worth trying or should I just make a dedicated force for one or the other? I've heard some lament about the difficulties of growing and maturing nephalim while others have said Zoraida's Obey )and another from her voodoo doll) is a big help. I know at least one person is just going to ignore the changing masters option and I doubt he's alone. This also seems like a big boost for Guild which probably has the best plug and play Masters. My wife was planning on playing Perdita and will probably end up buying and bringing Lady Justice to switch out with.
