  1. *grin* *grin* Man Mako... you take all the fun out of keeping a score board! *grin**grin*
  2. I agree, Wyrd certainly deserves Kudo's for having the fortitude to take on such a drastic change. Understanding that the forums are only representative of the wider community and that this poll is likely very biased (based on reasons already posted), it can be construed that the move will be successful. With the poll hovering between 75% and 80% fully embracing V2.0, I imagine that falls within Wyrd's measure of success. I certainly foresee a split in the community where 70% - 80% of the current community moves forward with V2. I think it would be nice if the other 20% - 30% could find a way to continue to enjoy Malifaux as well, especially if it means they continue to lend some of their purchasing to Wyrd (perhaps for models or fate decks).
  3. If I remember correctly, he had a great time as well! If I really dig into the haze of my memory, he even played in the 30 person tournament and his 2nd round opponent ended up on the top table at the end of the event. **snark on** Your son must be wicked smaht (speaking with a New England accent) to have understood Malifaux V1 that young, considering how inaccessible it was! *grin* **snark off** ---------- Post added at 12:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:59 AM ---------- Man, This thread is just too much fun... every time I think I am out, it pulls me back in! Come on DGraz, after this long we know the truth..... *grin* ---------- Post added at 12:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:02 PM ---------- That makes a lot of sense.
  4. Just wondering why quitting is a better option over playing "Against all odds still play Malifaux 1.5" as the poll has it? Personally I am a bit disappointed that the local scene around me has opted heavily for 2.0, but that just means the frequency of my games is dropping way (way way way) down from before 2.0. I am even getting in a game of good old Malifaux Classic today. ---------- Post added at 11:48 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:46 AM ---------- I am interested in how you feel the new version has changed? Considering over half the models in the game are not even being tested yet I cannot see how anyone has gotten in enough V2 games to say this won't happen again.
  5. I picked up "What Lies Ahead" as the first expansion the core set. It has 4 new cards for Haas-Biroid and 2 new cards for the other 3 corps. More importantly (I found), it has new agenda's for all 4 corps so you are not forced to use ALL the neutral agenda's for your corp decks. Check out the online deck-builder app here (http://www.cardgamedb.com/index.php/netrunner/android-netrunner-deck-builder). I find its a great resource for planning out the new expansion I want to pick up before I buy it.
  6. There is a fair amount of information out there on what specific people do not like about V2. I talk a bit here and there about it on my blog, although I have tended to focus more on what I liked about Malifaux Classic. Josh@TTB spoke about his thoughts on a recent TTB episode (episode 29). And Wiseman spoke about his thoughts on the recent Soulstone Train (episode 12). I do not think Spencer@Cheated Fates has spoken out yet, but he and I have discussed doing a V2 review at some point in the future on Gamers Lounge. Overall, it may take a little digging but there are some places you can look into what people are unhappy with. Also keep in mind that V2 is still in the public Beta, so while very little is expected to change some things are still evolving. I know that speaking only for myself, I am holding off really digging in on a podcast episode until things settle out a bit and we get the best picture of what V2 will look like.
  7. It's only been a week since the last posts Redd..... And I find it funny that people seem to have missed Mack spoiling what the scifi art was for on the D6G podcast interview he did. *grin*
  8. I'm in! I think I'll bring my 10 Thunders so now I need to work out my hiring pool!
  9. I am looking forward to hearing the feedback on this during the upcoming TSR!
  10. @Ausplosions, what is it about Pokieprawns concerns or his/her posts that has you so incensed? I would have thought that as a henchman, you would have been more welcoming to someone with a post count under/around 50. Especially someone who is new to the game and expressing their concerns about the edition change. I am sure your comments are truly changing his/her mind about those concerns and showing what great henchman leadership we have to welcome new players. @Pokieprawn - there is currently a real mix of concern, trepidation, and excitement within the community around the upcoming release of Malifaux v2.0 (M2E). I can certainly understand your concern and have seen some of my own local communities containing new players who have also stopped their purchases to "wait and see" whats coming. Wyrd has said that the public Beta will release a set of rules on May 31 (in or around I believe) and then you will be able to see for yourself if this is the game for you. Your previous posts show a fair bit of excitement getting into the game, so I recommend waiting to see what those open beta rules look like. Then, before you go to ebay, look at your local community. There are many games that release a second edition and have groups of players who keep playing the edition they started with. As my locals have told me, "It's not like Wyrd is going to come to your house and take away your models and cards!". I am sure that there will be lots of comments from a variety of sources (Open Beta Forum, Regular Forums, Podcasts, Blogs) to gather a host of opinions and use that information to make up your own mind on if Malifaux (v1.5 or v2.0) is still for you.
  11. Justin talked at a bit of length about Avatars and that they will be hired, and no longer for 2ss each. He said that he felt part of the reason avatars have not worked so far is that they are all 2ss, and thier prices needed to be stratified. I think that was in the Through the Breach interview. I have only made it through a few, so it was either Through the Breach, Malifools, Voices of Mars or Aethervox.
  12. Funny enough, there are areas where the concern is the other way and people are worried about a wholesale switch to 2.0 and a loss of a Malifaux Classic community.
  13. I know my daughter is really excited about this, I hear about it constantly.... "Daddy, when will my new plastic PW set get here???"
  14. I could have asked the same thing, but we're being civil, right? *grin*
  15. I've used it. It is not a common every game occurrence, but I certainly held it as an option that I have made use of at key moments outside the "Slow to Die Heal" use. More importantly, I have used it in conjunction with prevention to keep masters alive and viable on the board longer in a game. It was a good option to have.
  16. I really wish my thank you button would stop disappearing... thats gold!
  17. Miss Rage and Miss Vitriol... damn, that doesn't really work. Maybe we're getting Miss Understood as the Miss model this year.
  18. But Nathan... the internet is made of Rage and Vitriol.... *grin*
  19. I'm not sure that's fair Ooshawn... Wyrd is certainly not Hasbro/Wizards nor Games Workshop. As an ex-GW player who felt burned by GW because I was their customer, I have not felt that from Wyrd yet. I think Wyrd deserves the chance to succeed or fail in maintaining our trust all on thier own. They certainly communicate much more openly than GW ever has.
  20. I have seen lots of references to how much trust Wyrd has built with the player base and have always been on the front end of championing Wyrd. I think the part that has me most worried is one of the comments on the Through the Breach interview with Justin. It sounds like the people who did the writing for the first 4 books (Keltheos and NerdElemental) were only involved in the initial draft of the V2 rules, and now they are not. I certainly understand the reasoning Justin gave (They just were not in synch with the full time guys in the office making constant changes) but it still worries me. The people who brought the game this far and built up the trust are no longer driving the boat. I certainly think there are reasons to be worried that the new developers could steer us in a different direction than has been taken up to now.
  21. War Gamers consortium also has an audio interview up on You Tube:
  22. Listening to the podcasts it sounds like they have cut back on a lot of the abilities on the cards. Perhaps those abilities have been moved to the new upgrades that were mentioned. Scaling back on the number of abilities each model has would make it pretty straight forward to fit the new cards onto a playing card size.
  23. Listening to Through the Breach's interview with Justin (and later with Mack?) and I am really enjoying it. It sounds like it was supposed to be held until the public beta, especially as it sounds like they are reading from a rules document. Lots of references to specifics! Lot's of information about what we will be seeing in V2.
