  1. So what we're saying is there's lots of ways to run Nicodem effectively!
  2. For the record, I buy canine remains to summon punk zombies or whatever else is required at the time... but I don't waste time killing them off myself or using any decent first-turn cards to do so early on. They can be very useful minions in their own right, especially for 2ss, and once they die in turn 2 or 3 I'll have the cards to turn them into punk zombies or worse...
  3. Heck, if you had enough canines you could take down a master this way, as he'll eventually run out of soulstones and cards to cheat with.
  4. I run him much like TimeLapse, though I'll often have a rotten belle thrown in the mix too. They are also excellent at range. (0)Arise is important, but (0)Bolster Undead is his bread and butter! Try hitting a juicy enemy living minion with Decay or a crooked man's cave in, then following it up with Mortimer companioning all your canines; each canine can (1)Charge wounded living models, at Cb 6 with Nico's Bolster, and their ability that gives -2Df to opponents facing multiple dogs to boot, they will tear pretty much anything apart: So first dog (1)charges (Cb6 vs Df at dmg), then (1) strike for its second action. 2nd dog (1)charges (Cb6 vs Df-2 at dmg), then (1) strike follow up...etc
  5. Good stuff! Any chance you could get a bit more light on the front of the models?
  6. I guess some stuff just wasn't working (or at least not as clear) as origionally intended, so they distinguished "ignore" and "immune" as different effects in the errata and changed a lot of stuff from "ignore" to "immune".
  7. No worries, had a bit of a Eureka! moment when I finally figured it out, thought I'd try and save some people the headache.
  8. Yep, same reasoning applies to Undead, Nightmares, and Spirits.
  9. If something is "Immune to Morale duels" then The Box Opens would cancel this immunity. However, Terrifying is a special type of Morale Duel, and the rules for Terrifying state that only living models take Terrifying tests. The fact that the construct is no longer Immune to Morale Duels doesn't matter, as only Living models take the test. Make sense? Similarly, almost every other ability in the game that is considered a Morale Duel (there aren't that many) also only specifically target Living models, so again , even though the construct has lost its immunity to Morale Duels, it wouldn't be forced to take a Morale Duel that only targets Living Models. So, for example Coppelius' ability "Deeply Disturbing" causes "living models within 3"" to take a Morale Duel. Despite not being immune to Morale Duels, a Construct wouldn't take this test. Conversely, the Mature Nephilim's Rip in Half trigger makes "all enemy models within 6"" take a Morale Duel, so a Construct within range of The Box Opens would have to take this Morale Duel. And to your specific questions: (a) they would still be unaffected by Terrifying, and ( they would always be affected by something that caused them to simply Fall Back, even if The Box Opens wasn't in range, since it is not a Morale Duel and there aren't any models in the game that are Immune to or Ignore "Falling Back".
  10. I take him if I need him to grab an objective far off in the field. He can deploy pretty close and get there to (1)interact by turn 2. Then wait until the rest of my crew engages his crew, and bring him in to provide supporting fire with the harpoon. I don't have a cerberus, but I do have a Necropunk for my nicodem crew and I also never seem to get the masks needed for his Leap abilility. I'd take the acolyte as an objective-grabber since he's 2 points cheaper and I'm not gambling on a specific card draw in turn 1. I think he can be a good support model in many strats/schemes, but he's far from obligatory. His special deployment and immunity to ranged attacks and charges until he's in position are IMO his most important abilities, and the harpoon is a nice bonus.
  11. "Lies make baby Jesus cry." ―Todd Flanders Even with dice games people have been caught bringing in weighted dice to increase their chances of success. I know of one large (40-50ish players) tournament where one player brought a 40k army that was a 300-400 points over the 1750pt limit, without a list, and claimed ignorance when he was finally busted in the last round (at the head table of course). I think it's sad that some people seem to enjoy going to these lengths despite the hollow victory they will earn in doing so.
  12. I find it more amazing that Goat Boy is in 2nd place in Alternative Adventure miniatures with 112 votes while Doppleganger is last with only 24 votes. I'm not saying any of the other miniatures on the list don't deserve to be there, but friggin GOAT BOY?!
  13. Looks decent! My typical list looks like this minus the Necromancy with a Crooked man and a Rotten belle thrown in. I like having a few more soulstones myself as well.
  14. Great report! Love to see your pre-game strategy/scheme thoughts laid out. Also, totems get sacrificed if their master is killed or sacrificed, so the Wendigo wouldn't have outlived Rasputina!
  15. The Steam-ecutioner is pondering opening up a barber shop... of horrors! Nicely done.
  16. I don't think any one of the masters would have a *huge* advantage over all the others. If Nicodem could manage to stay away from the other masters my money would be on him simply because of Bolster. And Kirai's spirits should be very afraid of a few Severe damages from a Crooked Man's Cave In (spread 3 blast markers around her low-Wd spirits a few times and they won't last long).
  17. Nico and 2+ PZ's is way more bent than Killjoy, and Nico can summon them off a single corpse counter! Only trouble will be pinning her down. Lure would help (focus for 8Ca with should do the trick).
  18. Yep, Rogue necromancy would do it, especially with a nurse you're not afraid to use nearby. Anything with Paired melee weapons and/or Focused melee strikes would obviously be prefered to something without a to attack. A Punk zombie or two (especially if Bolstered by Nicodem) would make short work of the duet (or at least force the showgirls to burn through soulstones in defense).
  19. I'd have hard time believing you weren't going for 'where the wild things are', the resemblance is uncanny! Well done. Can't wait to see it painted!
  20. If you can get some on the coryphee/duet's defense/resist then that helps big to cancel out their . Targeting her Wp instead of her Df is slightly easier (especially for the single coryphees, unless Collette is nearby, in which case go against Df). Use your master, use soulstones, and hit 'em with Severe damage a few times. Don't waste your time with ranged strikes, spells that are ranged strikes, or blasts, as Bulletproof 2 and Evasive 3 neuter their effect quite.... effectively. Are you using a specific crew that is having trouble against them? If you're ressers, then which master?
  21. Love it! You've got an awesome collection of terrain thus far. When are you gonna get around to painting it all?!?
  22. As a Pandora player I was curious. Might be fun to take a Mature Nephilim against Resurrectionists in future...
  23. I had a good look through both books and found only three instances of Morale Duels that don't specifically target living models, and those are: The Lawyer's "Cross Examination" spell, The Mature Nephilim's "Rip in Half" trigger, and The Hanged "Last Words" action. These three all cause Morale Duels against any model, and if they were to happen to be within "the box opens" range would even affect models normally Immune to Morale Duels. Pretty short list.
  24. Yep, if an ability/spell/etc said "target model takes a Morale Duel" without specifying a type, then it would affect any model within The Box Opens 12" range.
  25. True, though to be clear Pandora's trigger is in no way a Morale Duel, nor are the spells that trigger it. It simply causes a model to Fall Back, so it applies to all models in the game (bypassing all immunities/models unaffected by Morale Duels). And like you said, while they'd theoretically be forced to take a Morale Duel despite being Immune to Morale Duels (thanks to the Box Opens), they aren't affected by the Morale Duel if it doesn't specifically target that model type (ie Terrifying and Coppelius' Deeply Disturbing only ever affect living models). Whew!
